Default Anyone else have a ganglion cyst?

I know this is such a random post to put on a weightloss forum but ive posted in general chatter

Today i was diagnosed with a ganglion cyst , which is basically a lump in your wrist.
Ive had this lump for some time now but i noticed it was getting bigger not by much but it had increased in size. At frist i thought id done something to the bone but now its visable and you can see the ball like shape and it is a cyst.

The doctor said they are harmless and in most cases disappear on their own never said how long but dont think mines going away any time soon. Its not painful so she said its nothing to worry about but it does get in the way like when im in the gym doing weights my hand isnt as flexible as the other.

Anyway just wandered if anyone has one / had one? as its all new to me.

and how long it took to go away thanks

I have had more than one, and they didn't go away by themselves. The doctor removed them.

I had one in my teens, and my doctor pushed on it, really really hard with his thumb to break it (well to try to break it, it actually didn't work).

It did eventually go away, but not for a really long, long time. Now I have one on my ankle, and I've had it for at least four or five years.

My mom has gotten them. Hers never went away on their own neither. She had to have them removed.

I have one right in the middle of my hand. I press on it for a few minutes a day and it's decreased in size but I can't figure out how to get rid of it. (I tried the book-thump method and it just hurt and didn't do anything. )

I had one on my hand when I was a teenager. The doctor told me to hit it with a heavy book. It worked and hasn't come back since.

I had one in my right wrist and just went to check it and it is gone! I had it for a few years wasn't too bothersome. I remeber it going down in size once and then back up and now it is gone. Not sure when it left

This sounds exactly like mine. It's in my left wrist and it started super small around 7 months ago and got larger. now it's the same size it has been for awhile but I can notice it standing out. My doctor says that I have to have to removed but if it does go away on it's own it Definately takes awhile.
I'm not sure how people smash them or break them, when I press on mine it starts to hurt too bad, I guess I'm a big baby!

My friend's son had one last summer. He fell and hurt his wrist. The next day, the cyst appeared. She took him to the doctor, and they put a cast on his wrist all the way down to his thumb because even though they didn't see a break on the x-ray, they wanted a cast on it to make sure it wasn't actually broken. When they took the cast off 2 weeks later, it was gone, and there was no break, either. Weird, huh?
