Is this heat interfering with your routine?
I can handle 80. I can handle 85. I can even handle 90. But 100? Heat index 110? Seriously?? I woke up at my usual 5 a.m. this morning to walk my dogs and I knew I was in trouble. The air was thick and moist (yuck!). I live by a bay in an older house with no air conditioning except for a window unit in one room. Guess where I've been all day? When I walk out of this room, it feels as if I'm walking into a room where someone has turned on a furnace full blast.
Not only could I not go for my bike ride this morning or do any of the house cleaning I planned on, but I also found that I was drained of energy. I wanted to pop a DVD into my laptop and do a 10-minute sit-up routine and just 10 minutes of strength training in the "cool" room, and I couldn't even muster up the energy to do that. Arrgh!!
Anyone else hatin' this heat like I am?

The only thing that interfers with my exercise (at the Y) is a hurricane or nor'easter. I live on the water, too, and it is humid. I can't stand to be outside, hence the Y.

Oh dear, yes. One example is of one of my favorite exercises, my weighted hula hoop, which I can do for an hour onwards and hardly break a sweat.. but has left me drenched in 20 minutes the past few days. Yuck! I've cut it down to 30 minutes of hooping a day and a bit of work with my hand weights but I'm not even going to dream of taking my dogs out or doing anything outside until this weather cools down.

I moved to AZ a few months ago, and it's wayyy hotter out here than I am used to! So I play a dance game on the wii, I really work up a good sweat on that! And I wait until about 7pm to go on my daily walk. I always take cold, cold water. I'm drenched by the time I get done, but it's manageable

As well as staying hydrated, anyone experiencing this heatwave should also make sure they're getting enough salt.

Oh yeah!
It's hot! Probably not as hot here as most of you are experiencing, but still, it's hot for us. AND we don't have AC. I don't want to cook. I don't want to move. It's hard to do much of anything. Sure there could be ways to work around it, but I have to say I'm doing a lousy job of figuring out what they are.

Good post! Personally, I do all my exercise at the school gym, so the heat has actually HELPED my routine. Because I think, "Gawd, if I'm going to be this sweaty, I might as well be exercising!" If my routine involved anything outdoors, no way could I handle it. Y'all be careful in this weather! Stay hydrated!

yep... and I sweat tons in the heat, lol. I had to do a quick mile walk to get my cat's medication and as soon as I got home I ran for the garden house and just drenched myself in nice cold water

Yes!! You are not alone...our head indices have been 108-115 this week and it has completely drained my energy. Just being outside for 5 minutes wipes me out and I'm ready for a nap. Can't wait for this heat wave to go away!
