I copied and pasted the recipe from allrecipes.com and then changed it a bit to match my tastes and P1 guidelines.
Ingredients
1 cup FF plain yogurt
1 tsp lemon juice
2 teaspoons ground cumin
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 teaspoon cayenne pepper (or less if you don't like it too spicy)
2 teaspoons freshly ground black pepper (less for less spice)
1 tablespoon minced fresh ginger (I used less and powdered)
3 boneless skinless chicken breasts, cut into bite-size pieces
4 long skewers
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 clove garlic, minced
2 teaspoons ground cumin
2 teaspoons paprika
1 (8 ounce) can tomato sauce (no sugar, of course)
1/4 cup lite coconut milk
1/4 cup LF cream cheese
1/4 cup chopped fresh cilantro
1 can chickpeas
Directions:
In a large bowl, combine yogurt, lemon juice, 2 teaspoons cumin, cinnamon, cayenne, black pepper, ginger. Stir in chicken, cover, and refrigerate for 1 hour.
Preheat a grill for high heat.
Lightly oil the grill grate. Thread chicken onto skewers, and discard marinade. Grill until juices run clear, about 5 minutes on each side.
Heat oil in a large heavy skillet over medium heat. Saute garlic for 1 minute. Season with 2 teaspoons cumin, and paprika. Stir in tomato sauce, coconut milk, and cream cheese. Simmer on low heat until sauce thickens, about 20 minutes. Add grilled chicken, and chickpeas. Simmer for 10 minutes. Transfer to a serving platter, and garnish with fresh cilantro.
I usually add a few whole cloves, as well as a dash of ginger, cinnamon, and curry to the sauce too.

I made it on Sunday and was really impressed with how well it came out. Like I said, I played with the amounts for some of the spices since I didn't want it overly spicy. I even added a dash of curry. I also liked how replacing the traditional cream with the coconut milk and cream cheese still gave it that creamy taste but without all the fat. I hope you like it!
I thought this was fantastic!! My family loves Indian Food and this was really good. I did add about 1/2 teaspoon of coriander, tumeric, curry powder, and cardamom and its almost like we were at our favorite restaurant.
This was awesome. I used diced tomatoes (and then ran my immersion blender through it), and added some white pepper, garam masala and hot madras curry powder to it to bring out the spice a bit more. LOVED the combo of the grilled chicken with the sauce. I made some brown rice (that I baked in the rest of the coconut milk + water) and then sprinkled the entire dish with cilantro to freshen it up. VERY good and figure friendly.
Made it tonight as I started salivating for Indian! It was great and a definite keeper! I added curry as well (2 teaspoons to the sauce, not marinade). I'd caution not to let the char marks get on the chicken (the yogurt burns easily and the char doesn't taste good) so place it on indirect heat on the grill.
I think next time I will make it with smashed cauliflower to sop up the sauce. YUMMY!!!
I attached two photos: marinading and then cooking on the stovetop.
Your pics look delicious! I'm making this again tonight, and for the first time with the recipe I actually get to use the grill since it's not 10 degrees out like the first few times I made this. I add curry to the sauce too. I love that spice! I think I'll try it with cauliflower this time too!
I have looked at this recipe over and over again for months but I think your pictures have sealed the deal. And I think I actually currently have all the ingredients in stock. At first the long list scared me, but it's actually not so bad! Thanks for posting pics!

Welcome! I try to post pics every time I make something new. and it's not that hard because you do the chicken first and then work on the other portion!
Made this last night, so easy and yummy!
Didn't feel like grilling so I cooked my chicken in the oven, on the broiler. They didn't have the "grill" flavor but still little char marks on them. I broiled about 10 minutes on each side while I did the second half of the recipe. I have so much left over! I am adding red lentils to my leftovers and it is amazing!
