Question Vegan bread spread ideas

Does anyone have good ideas for a vegan bread spread/pâté? Or maybe some interesting sandwich ideas. I'm not thinking of lettuce/tomato combination. I'm craving something salty, but it has to be vegan. There are no ready to eat vegan foods in stores in my area, so I would have to make it from scratch.

Olive Spread

Tapenade, also made with olives, also has red pepper and capers.

Oh, and I have a friend who adds cooked edamame to her guacamole. She calls it "edamole!" Less fat, more protein than regular guac.

pesto, hummus (YUmmmmm, try the pine nut for something different). Organic peanut butter. tofuti dairy free cream cheese. Guacamole. Roasted red pepper hummus has a bit of a spice to it. Vegan butter spread (good earth brand). Garlic "dipping sauce" (i make a vegan garlic bread as a treat with dipping sauces from the pizza joint!) or honey mustard dipping sauce from the grocery (check the ingredients!). Also our deli does a guacamole salsa combination so you can get both on your bread or chip

Green pesto (I use the Pesto Genovese by Sunita, only good vegan pesto I've found), tomatoes and salt. Alternatively, margarine, sliced tomatoes, fresh basil leaves and salt.

Marmite!

Here is a "light" hummus. Obviously you would have to use a (soy) alternative for the yogurt.

I love artichoke and roasted red pepper tapenade.

It might just be easier to make an artichoke tapenade or spread. There are plenty of recipes out there using either fresh or canned/jarred artichokes.

you can always make hummus from roasted red peppers or sundried tomatoes - even from edamame, garden peas, and other foods.

I'm fairly sure that most, if not all, of the recipes for them would be Vegan.
just check google for recipes that fit your diet plan(I'm not a vegan).

oh man... baba ghanoush! yummm.

saute some mushrooms and add some salt, maybe spread some pesto and add avocado to make a sandwich. if you like it, sauerkraut is awesome on sandwiches and generally salty. i found a recipe on allrecipes for a grilled eggplant and tomato sandwich. it calls for goat cheese, but you can leave it out. you could add veggies to it, also.
