Lightbulb SMOOTHIES! Share your favorite recipes!

I'm currently using intermittent fasting and calorie counting to win at losing. I am interested in collecting a bunch of smoothie recipes and possibly replacing one of my "eating" windows with a smoothie window. My sister recently turned me on to smoothies (not the high sugar chain smoothies of course). She makes what she calls super food smoothies. They litterally have everything but the kitchen sink in them. I'm looking for mostly natural ingredient recipes (i.e. no scoops, powders, packets, etc...) that I can have fun with on my smoothie day. If it works out, I may replace a weekend of windows with smoothies just so I don't have to worry about food and can give my body a little vacation.

My current favorite is this:

1 small frozen banana
frozen mango pieces
frozen peach pieces
2 handfulls of spinach
1 small apple
small dollop of greek yogurt

Blend, blend, blend! Yum, yum, yum!

Yum! That sounds good!

My sis says that if you sneak veggies in at a ratio of 40% veg to 60% fruit you can't tell it's there. I'm currently slurping down a smoothie with everything in my crisper drawer in it...

strawberries, banana, apple, mango, grapes

cauliflower, broccoli, spinach, carrot

greek yogurt

It's pretty darn good

What a great thread!! I usually throw whatever I have in the freezer...lots of fruits, and some frozen acai berries but I never even thought about throwing veggies in there! I can't wait to try!

We are smoothie addicts around here and are living on them with the hot weather. My current favorite is carrot cake:
carrots
1/2c cottage cheese
1/2c greek yogurt
half a frozen banana
some good vanilla & cinnamon

I don't need any additional sweetener if I use half a banana. I do like to add chia to mine for bulk and fiber. If I need more protein I use 100% hemp powder.
I've also seen these with some frozen pineapple added in

Have you tried Organic Valley lowfat, plain pourable yogurt? I LOVE making smoothies with it. It's only 110 calories per cup. I blend a cup of it with 1/2 cup frozen berries (I like blueberries or cherries) and 1/2 a large frozen bananas (when my bananas start to brown, I freeze them. They're super sweet, so no extra sweetner is needed for my smoothies). I blend all of this using my KitchenAid hand blender (one of my FAVORITE kitchen tools), and I enjoy my fruit and yogurt "milkshake." I like the ever so slight bit of tang and tartness from the yogurt.

YUM! All of these look so good. Thank you ladies!

@Cyndi, where do you buy your hemp powder? I used to get hulled hemp seeds from my mom and LOVED them sprinkled on my yogurt. She bought them online but I don't remember the place. Hemp is such a perfect food, I'd love to add it to more but I need to find an afordable vendor.

@Lin, no, I haven't used the pourable yogurt in smoothies. I guess I hadn't thought of it. My hubs loves to drink that stuff but I think I never touched the stuff because of the thick texture. I think if yogurt as needing a spoon not a straw... I'll have to give it a shot. Thanks

I've found it at my local co-op and the Whole Foods and Trader Joe we go to sometimes.
