I thought I would start a thread for updates for anyone who is super close.
Today I had my 35/36 week appointment -- so I had my Strep B swab and she checked positioning of the wee one.
Apparently she's got her head firmly on my cervix. The doc seems surprised and happy about that she's all the way down. My cervix is closed so she's just waiting for the doors to open.
Although I'm not due until July 1st and I really wanted a July 4th baby, I wouldn't be upset if she came a wee bit early.
We're having some minor issues with feeding. She had a posterior tongue tie that was keeping her from latching. Luckily after being beat-up by her nursing, a lactation consultant diagnosed the problem and she had minor surgery to have it fixed (very quick clipping). However, her tongue is still not trained to take to the breast so I'm pumping, using formula supplements, and finger feeding her until we build up her muscles. It is excruciatingly slow but I am hanging in there. I try not to let it break my heart that I can't breast feed her right now and that this is just a blip in her life... but it's HARD!
Can't wait to be back here to lose the baby weight! But not for a little while yet.

I said it on the other thread, but Congratulations!! She really is just beautiful.
My second one was tongue tied and I wish they would have caught it earlier. It made for some amazingly painful (and sometimes not terribly effective) nursing for a while. He didn't have surgery, but they might have to do it when he gets a little older, if it affects his speech.
You have a good attitude. It's hard when the breastfeeding doesn't go exactly as we'd like; but, the point is that she's getting the food she needs and will grow up strong and healthy. You're doing a great job!
Oh wow Jessica! She is lovely! Congrats on doing the whole thing without drugs. I used the hypnobabies program while I was pregnant but ended up having an emergency c/s. Way to stick with the breastfeeding! We had a really rough go of it for the first 5-6 weeks. Its totally worth it to stick it out though!!!
