Smile SBD Chat - Wednesday, June 22

So what's up, Chickies? I'm "up" - way too early again! I go to bed around ten but seem to be wide awake before four a.m. I know we need less sleep as we get older but under six hours is just wrong.

Disney, Jazz and I do pet therapy first thing this morning rather than at noon because I have a Quilting Group pot-luck at then. My contribution is that food porn Bacardi Rum Cake which I will resist. It's the kind of food that is addictive - one slice leads to more. I know there will be salads and some sort of meat so I'm sure I won't starve. Supper tonight will be light, especially if lunch is carby.

Since I'm up too early, I'm going to make good use of my time and quilt for an hour as soon as it gets bright enough. I do have lights in the studio but ... In the meantime, coffee and Net meandering a.k.a. wasting time!

Happy Hump Day to us all!

Good Morning

Ruth! I'm up early, too. Unfortunately, I've come to consider 6 hours a blessing. Oh, well. I'm going to make good use of my time, too. Bing has already had a short brushing after his bath yesterday. Your quilting group sounds fun. I think I'd have to pass on the rum cake, too.

Thanks for all the kind wishes yesterday. It's definitely a lot less hectic here...we will get used to it. I lucked out yesterday. I was dragging late in the afternoon but decided to find a second wind. I bathed Bing and headed to the farmers market. It was hot, but I saw lots of friends. As we were headed to the car I ran into a chiropractor acquaintance (kind of loony) at an office near my car. 1-1/2 hrs later I came out pretty worked over. Her new office has all kinds of equipment...one called a spirobed?? And then a deep massager that looks like an orbital sander. She was in the mood and I needed it. I gave her $40 and half my tomatoes.

Today...VBS by bike at 7, then home to (hopefully) lounge around and try a new recipe for dinner. I hope I can manage to avoid the weeds in the garden...or point them out to DH before I leave.

Have a great OP day everyone!

Hey Ruth,
We ran the ac all night because it is so humid here right now. I'd honestly rather deal with the extra electric bill than sticky weather. For some reason my building really holds heat (good in winter, not so good in summer) so if it's hot one day, even if it's breezy the next the building stays really warm.

Just a regular work day today, nothing special. I cleaned up my son's room yesterday and got some stuff off the floor which was great. I realized this is the last weekend we are home, and then we're away in various places for the next four weekends, so I really do need to make a list and get on it for exactly what needs to get done. And, with school ending next week there's a bunch of stuff I can get rid of (aka old assignments). Yippee! Have a great day everyone.

Happy Hump Day to you, Ruth. It sounds like you have a nice day ahead of you, and stay strong around that cake! It's my favorite, and I'm well aware that one bite leads to another, and another, and another.
How did Disney make out at the vets? Was it just a tic bite, as you suspected? Give her and Jazz and extra scritch for me. Soon!

I'm only working 1/2 day today. Or at least that's the plan, anyway. Things change often. The girls and I are spending the morning with Grandmama and Granddaddy, and they'll entertain their grandparents while I run the vacuum and do any other chores that they need done. I know the girls will eagerly eat my share of what ever goodies Susie has made for our morning tea.
I think I'll spend the afternoon enjoying a little Me Time in the pool. It's not very often I get the chance to just float around on my raft without being splashed and knocked off of it.

Good morning It really is Hump Day for me, I have to work Friday morning. I took some time off yesterday to meet DW at the docs so will make it up Friday morning. She has an appt. with the specialist Monday morning so we may start to get some answers.

Much needed rain is in the forecast and I'm heading over the mountains today and tomorrow. I'm so glad I bought that rain coat back in Maine!

Good morning. I haven't warned DH yet but am hoping we finally get back on our bikes today. I've got to run to the store this morning then get my beans out of the crockpot. Tonight we are going out to dinner for our rescheduled Father's Day. DH chose a steak place so I'll have not problem staying OP, just with quantity! DH plans to install a new kitchen faucet today; he started last night but couldn't get the old one out. Does not bode well. He'll want me to stand there and "help."

Matilda, I hope your day is uneventful. How is DS feeling? Our old brick house does the same with heat in the winter. It works to our advantage, keeping it cool in the summer...but that's because our mtn temps drop down so much at night.

Linda, wish I could join you at the pool today.

Cyndi, glad that Julie is going to see a specialist on Monday!

Ok, back to work. I'm catching up on my rescue paperwork reminding myself that these pups will find good homes.

Linda, Disney was her usual good self at the vet. She had a nick, not a tick, in her ear that got scabby and infected and Dr. Leslie cleaned it up and gave her a shot of penicillin which she hated. It's looking better now.

If there's any rum cake left, I'll freeze you a slice. By the way, it lasts forever - a woman near here sent one to her soldier son in Afghanistan!

Good morning ladies. Haven't checked in for a while. Busy here. Still dealing with husband not feeling well. Took a couple weeks "off" sort of from calorie counting/low carb...went out to dinner a lot with DH and managed to only gain 3 lbs (which is back off). But my body is looking fatter....weird. It's never happened to me before (I'm running and lifting) and my legs look less muscular than ever. dropped a size in clothes. Anyway...I started fat flush this week (haven't even told my husband yet). Not sure the timing is perfect since we're camping next week....but I'll just prep good before we go. Horrible headache yesterday and today but also TOM so I'm double whammied. One day on plan and I'm down 3 lbs. Haven't weighed this morning yet. Last time I did this I lost 11 in week 1 so I'll be happy with 6 even. I just really need to get a jump on the loss here. Fat flush phase 3 (lifestyle phase) is like SB so I think I should be good. Going to read up on that incase something special comes up I can still be on plan. How is everyone doing? Staying busy? Enjoying the weather?? Glad to have some time to be back and check in. I've missed you all!!!

Karen, I hope you do get on your bike today. I detest standing there while DH fixes something...now I get him to call his friends from the TBI group then I watch them all (3 guys) figure it out.

Kristen, I was thinking of you just the other day. Glad to hear you're hanging in there with WL and that you have a "plan."

Great morning, everyone. Now that the school year is over, I spend the days with my two kids and my girlfriend's two as well. I do NOT know how people actually HAVE 4 kids (or more . . .)! I only have them from 8-5 four days a week, and I am tired after only two days!

Overall plan for the day - breakfast is done, computer time is done, and they are happily playing in the basement now. We will spend an hour or so at the bowling alley (kids bowl 2 games a day FREE in the summer for the cost of shoes), have lunch, and then hit the pool for the afternoon. Tonight is kids eat for $1.99 at Friendly's, so expect a trip out there. They have a delicious (yes - delicious - even at Friendly's) chicken/apple/walnut salad that I love.

I think of all of you with your various pets, kids, and chores. I am really glad to know you are all out there.
Linda - I am with you about the pool time - we will head to the pool , but I have learned to not bother getting on the raft with the 4 of them around - lol.
Karen - the last time DH tried to fix something like that, we had a flood of epic proportion. I now have a "Steve" who comes and deals with whatever I can't do.
Debbie - hurrah for rescue dogs. My mom works for a golden retriever rescue - you do great work!! Both the dogs and the people benefit in so many ways.
Ruth - I am dreaming about rum cake now . . . mmmmmm.
Cyndi - I am saying a little prayer about that specialist appt.
Matilda - please come visit me and help me clear out MY kids' bedrooms! I think I need a day when they are not at home to actually get anything DONE in their rooms.
Kristen - great news finding ways to avoid the regain!

Everyone - be well.

Good morning,

It's been crazy at work today so I have no time for personals. Doing good food wise so I am hoping to see movement with the scale this weekend. I have at least moved away from weighing everyday to only weighing in on the weekends.

Good morning beach babes!

Like Pearlrose, I've got a hectic day at work so I can't chat for long (last day of work before the horse trials!). Hump day is not starting so well for me - Atkins shake was foul, woke up several times during the night so I decided to sleep in rather than exercise, chiropractor took longer than usual so I got to work late, and all there is to eat at work is instant oatmeal. Bleh. Hope everyone else is having smoother sailing than I am today!
