Default today I ran a mile!

I can walk forever, and I can walk quickly for a very long time as well, but I have never been a runner. I've been on a diet, and have lost a good deal of weight, and I haven't been going to the gym as regularly as I would like, but I still do some form of exercise everyday. So yesterday I went back to the gym, and I started running. Previously I was only able to run a max of 3 min, yesterday I was able to do six! I was so thrilled with myself, and I gave myself a goal that I would be able to run for 10min straight by the end of june. Well I went back this morning and I got on the treadmill, started running and was tired at 3 min again, but I wouldn't let myself quit until I got to the six I hit yesterday, by min 5 I had hit my stride, and a girl (a very pretty much skinnier than me girl mind you) got on beside me and started running in the same pattern, so that made it easier as well, plus it gave me motivation. Today I was able to run for 11.5 min straight which equaled about 1.21 miles. What I was giving myself a month to accomplish I found out I already could do if I didn't let myself quit. So proud of me
Side note: I definitely out ran the skinny girl who quit after 4 min of running

Awesome. For me, having a athletic goal is as important as having a weight goal. One propels the other. I am so glad you met one of yours! congrats!

What an awesome accomplishment! I guess we can all do more than we think...we just need to push ourselves harder. You should be really proud of yourself!

Congrats! When I finally hit my first mile, it was very similar-- I wanted to stop after 4 minutes but talked myself into sticking it out for 6. Ended up running 1.25 miles when the farthest I had done before that was 0.5!

It's amazing what our bodies can do when our minds don't get in the way, isn't it?
