Default SBD Chat - Thursday, June 9

Good morning. We had a terrible storm with wind and rain last night but there doesn't seem to be any damage around here. It came on quickly at the Church social and there was a stampede into the hall from the folks eating out in the drive shed. I worked until after six as planned and then came home to my own salad with grilled chicken. Disney was under the box spring in the spare room waiting for me to lift it and release her.

I have a slight headache this morning, a rare happening for me. I'm treating it with coffee and aspirin and somewhat enjoying not leaping into my day. Lots got done around here yesterday so a bit of the pressure is off. Later today I may go to town to pick up my weed whip and pressure washer plus a few things for the wedding on Saturday. I think I need to buy a half slip to wear under that dress. Who knew? My floor length Victorian petticoat from my Mill costume just won't work.

So what's happening chez vous?

Good morning Ruth and all!

Ruth - hope your headache goes away! I was realizing the other day that I never see anyone wearing slips anymore....

I'm sipping coffee for a few minutes, time to get the DD up (DS already is!) for their last day of school today. Unfortunately, I have to work!! We went to the local pool last night with the 95 degree temps (we don't have a/c!), I think that season pass is going to be well used!

Have a great day!

I swear I had a whole wardrobe of half and full slips. I must have pitched them when I was liberated from power-dressing! I'll feel a tad archaic shopping for one today - maybe Sears?

Good morning,
Ruth, I dislike morning headaches - I hope the caffeine and aspirin help. Could it also be allergies? They have been so bad here this year. We had the a/c on all night because it was so HOT and today they predict almost 100 degrees...today is my son's birthday. I hear him stirring in his room right now. He is so excited because we are taking him shopping and he has a "budget" of what he can spend...he keeps asking what his budget is and talking about his budget. He is so cute. I will most definitely be off plan today as we are having pizza for lunch and going out to eat for dinner. Both my husband and I took the day off to spend with him. Hope everyone has a great day!!

I hope everyone stayed dry, Ruth! Poor Disney, though. I bet she was relieved to see you! Advil was first thing on my agenda this morning, too, and I hope your headache is gone soon.

I woke up with a sinus headache and a summer cold. Ugh. Not fun. At least today should be an easy day and there are no plans for after school, so I should get home at a decent hour.
I need Advil and lots of coffee before I get my day started.

Tywnn! Try to stay cool today! Ugh, I don't think I could bear this heat without AC!

Matilda, tell your little I wish him a very happy birthday! That is so sweet that you and your DH took the day off to make it extra special for him.

Good morning I tried to start the thread earlier but a power flicker rebooted my computer and lost everything. It's been a stormy morning here.
So for once the scale was kind to me and gave me the gift I wanted - down to 138.8 this morning Now to keep at it once the annual piece of birthday porn is eaten.

Ruth - Congratulations on sticking to your food plan yesterday. It was a good salad day. Happy shopping

Twynn - I think this summer the pool pass will be well worth it. If it starts off this hot I worry that it will continue.

Mathilda - Happy Birth Day Mom! Sounds like a fun day.

Cottage - Do you have the storms too? I wonder if that's contributing to the headaches. Allergy season has been brutal here. DW missed several days of work and her eyes are still quite swollen.
See you tonight for wine

I'm going to get on the road early today so I can end early. Not sure if I'll grill or grab takeout tonight. Tomorrow my weekend starts!

Good morning friends!

I'm sorry about the headaches - I hope you'll both be feeling better by the time you read this post.

I got lucky yesterday afternoon - Fergie decided it was way too hot to put the garden in. I got quite a bit of my end of the year paperwork finished while sitting in front of the fan, drinking ice water. Today was supposed to be Field Day at school, but we've postponed it til tomorrow because of the heat. Friday's a much better day for Field Day anyway, but I feel badly for parents who arranged to miss work today to help and now have to scramble to rearrange things.

I'm starting to recover from the all the indulgences while Cathy was here - my capri pants feel much better this morning. The scale is warning me that I need to stay on track though so I'll skip the "make your own" ice cream sundaes at school this afternoon.

Happy last day of school to your kids, Tammy!
Happy birthday to your son, Matilda!

Cyndi, enjoy your birthday - and I love your suggestion in yesterday's thread! (It was already locked when I saw it.) I'll be looking forward to kayaking with you soon.

Enjoy your steamy Thursday friends.

Good Morning

Hi everyone! I got some needed sleep last night and now the gang is starting at me waiting to go outside. Today it's Denver w/mom. I'll drive and take my bike for an extended ride while she's at the Dr. Partly cloudy here....too bad it's not a painting day.

Ruth, I hope your headache passes!

Matilda, happy birthday to your DS. Have fun with him!

everyone else!

Have a great day!

Good morning.

Ruth - Hope your headache is better already! I have slips stuck in an under-the-bed box from my working woman days. Last time I wore one was probably a wedding too.

Twynn - Last day - hurrah. Keep cool.

Matilda - Happy birthday to your son. The shopping sounds fun. Enjoy.

Linda - Sorry you aren't feeling well.

Cyndi - Do you mark your birthdays by what you weight too?! Have a great day and a fabulous year.

Heidi - I remember volunteering at field day with my boys. And I even remember doing it myself way back when! For me it was like a track meet but for my boys it was more games and fun activities.

Debbie - Enjoy your ride.

So it seems I may have broken a toe. Or just really, really jammed it. Either way, I'm less bothered by the fact that it hurts and more upset that I had great plans to be back on track with working out. The good news is I CAN wear my running shoes so actually did my workout with mom yesterday then a short stint on the elliptical while being careful. But maybe by the end of the day I had overdone since it hurts more today. Sigh. Darn!!!! Last time I broke one, two summers ago, it put me out of commission for weeks and was even longer before I could get my foot in my cycling shoes. Oh, and with this heat - my sandals are a no-go too

Other than that little wrench in the works, I'm enjoying having the house to myself. Good thing my husband went to LA instead of me and my toe!

Good Morning Everyone!! I had computer issues yesterday. It's kind of scary to learn the types of cyber attacks out there.

It sounds like most of you are beginning to see some of the heat we have been having in the South. Summer has arrived.

Yesterday was my weekly weigh-in and am happy to report a 3 pound loss!! I am thrilled because that is 1/2 of my monthly goal...woo hoo!!! So let's keep on keeping on and maybe I can beat my own goal....sweet.

Got to run...have doctor's appointment for followup from a surgery last month. Maybe a little shopping and pick up some groceries but I will NOT go down the ice cream aisle. It is my weakness this time of year.

Have a great OP day...be safe

Life is good...complain and remain

Good morning beach babes!

Cyndi - Happy Birthday! Please share your birthday food porn adventures so we can vicariously live through you! =)

Karen - I broke a toe a few months ago by simply jamming it into a door - OOUUCH - I feel your pain! You know what thought kept me going working out though? In Jr. High I knew a kid in a wheelchair, and he had the buffest arms, chest, and shoulders. He was one of the hottie cool kids. Anyway, the idea is that there's lots of exercises that can be done sitting down.

granchick - Congrats on your loss! And it's only the 9th!!! Way to go

Oh yes - I stubbed it on a chair. Stupid. I just don't know if it is officially broken but it doesn't really matter. Worst part might be that I broke this same darn toe stubbing it before. Klutz!

But the good news - while it hurts to walk, it does NOT hurt to elliptical!!! There goes my excuse not to exercise.

Crack slaw for lunch. Yum.

Just popping in to say hello. Bad day here. One of our off-duty police sergeants was killed in a motorcycle wreck. Sad day at work, for sure. Hope you ladies are doing well. I'll try to pop in this weekend. I have GOT to do better checking in here!!!
