Default Steel Magnolias #26

Good morning gals. Well, we had the ac guy come back out again yesterday because the compressor wouldn't come on and he changed out the capacitor and left but the house didn't cool off and it would stop. Well, Jack and I but the bullet and turned it off and left if off all night even though the temp was near 90 in the house. This morning it is about 85 out but we turned it on and it is working fine. It has a shutoff to keep it from burning up and the house was so hot yesterday because the ac didn't work all weekend that it just couldn't keep up and shut down. I am going to keep an eye on it and see how it doesn today, but I can already tell the difference this morning in the house.

Jack's plant all were complaining of the heat so they put them on 6-2 shift, which made Jack mad. He hates the early morning's anyway and having to get up at 4 now doesn't make it any better. He now has to go to bed around 8 to get 8 hours of sleep and how ridiculous is that! On top of that, we think he stress fractured his foot at work yesterday but since it is oji, they send them to a minor medical place. This dr told Jack with his knee they are given instructions to fix it and send them back to work, no time off, which wasn't the problem, but she didn't even haved it xrayed saying he couldn't have stress fractured it. How does she know without an xray? She put him in a boot and sent him back to work with advil!!! Told him to come back in a week if it still hurts and she will have it xrayed. He told her he can't wear the boot at work as he has to wear safety shoes but she was basically like, "not my problem." Royally oinked me off. He is in pain and limping this morning and says it hurts to put weight on it. We can't even take him to the ER or to the dr because if Tricare finds out about the oji they won't pay for anything we have done.

Gail: God will give you an extra crown in glory for you dilligence with your father and father in law. Truth be told, when the spouse goes the left partner usually gives up if they are elderly. I am sorry you can't make any headway with your dad, but the other one is certainly a character. Like you said, at least he has a positive attitude so he can dance again. Did you find any yarn??? I bought some great felting yarn in two colors a sold and a striped and am going to make duffer slippers for gifts. They are so cute and you can make them look like little ballet flats with embellishments and whatnot. I just have to adjust the sizes that are offered as the lady is German and uses metric sizes and European foot sizes. They must have smaller feet than we women here in the states!

Maggie: I feel for the kid, for sure, but like you, nothing is safe anymore and he should have kept his bike in the house. Jack had a beautiful brand new 10 speed stolen right off our porch and it was padlocked to the porch years ago when Jay was little. He bought it to ride to work at the base and it only lasted about a week. That hurt the pocketbook big time back then. My hair has thinned a lot too from meds and such and coloring it red hides the thinness. I have always has super fine hair anyway and as I got older thinned out a lot. It isn't perfect but except for a wig it is the best I have!

Jean: We are supposed to get to 96 today and 98 on Thur and Fri. The only thing good about that is warming up the pools. Used to be you went into a department store and were measured for bras, now you grab one off the rack and hope it fits, which it rarely does. Jack was looking on Google Earth at the Missouri and a good part of the interstate is parallel to the river so it is likely they will end up having to close it. I just hope it doesn't swell up the MS again as we are finally below flood stage.

Susan: Sounds like you had a lovely relaxing time. The problem with a new ac unit is $$$$$ You have to have them to replace it and we just don't and comfort or not, I am not taking on another bill by financing it. I am working very hard to get our finances in order for retirement, ie paying off everything I can and will suck it up over thousands of dollars of financing. I imagine in the next couple years we will have the money to let Jimmy replace our unit and we just have to keep our fingers crossed it will hold out I guess. I am a long way from clothing being too big, but I hope by the end of the year to fit into stuff I wore 6-7 years ago and if I am really lucky maybe the stuff I originally bought for the cruise a few years ago will fit me for next year, but not until the last minute I imagine. I have some really cute stuff, but if it doesn't fit then it will.

I gotta go gals and get some upstairs work done before it gets too hot. Have a lovely day and try and keep cool. We are having a country wide hot spell it looks like Faye

Donna Faye, my crown in Heaven will surely be tarnished because I have not always been the best daughter no matter how hard I've tried. I lose patience (my brother is so much better with Dad) and get frustrated and then I'll snap at my Dad and end up apologizing for how I said something. Sometimes I think Dad wants me to snap at him because I remind him of Mom then. Whenever I visit (and I do try to get to VA at least once a month and I do try to go more often than that but with gas prices, Wayne's work situation and worrying about him I know I don't get down there to see Dad as much as I should) Dad wants me to sit with him. If I get up he wants to know where I'm going (to the bathroom) and if I go outside or run an errand he wants to know when I'll be back and if I'm not back at the appointed time he will phone me on my cell. After 24 hours, I'm ready to go back to Delaware...so my crown will surely be tarnished. I pray for guidance, patience, and wisdom each night before I go to bed. ......You know what? I didn't have the heart (my good sense kicked in) to buy any new yarn yesterday. I didn't even go near the yarn shop!

Susan, yes my Dad is depressed. I know first hand. I, too, have been on medication for depression. I don't take anything now. I still get anxiety and panic attacks but a therapist I've seen in the past has taught me ways to relieve the attacks so I don't take any medication for those either. Wayne knows how to "talk" me out of an attack. I believe depression runs in my family. My Mom suffered from depression (but did not take medication). Both of my daughters take medication now for depression and the oldest also takes medication for anxiety attacks.

Maggie, I deleted my post from the end of the last thread because when I re-read it, it just made me so upset...but I will say this about suggesting Dad volunteering. Volunteer work is so far out of Dad's world of thinking I think he would be confused by the shear thought of it. (And Dad was a volunteer fireman when he was younger.) My Dad's day consists of waking up (from sleeping on the sofa all night long), changing into his day clothes, eating a small bowl of corn flakes, LOOK at the newspaper (forget reading it), watching tv, watching more tv, falling asleep, eating a HALF sandwich for lunch, going to the bathroom, watching tv, napping, more tv, my brother bringing over a hot dinner he may or may not eat, looking out the window, watching tv, going to the bathroom, then going to bed (the sofa) to sleep for the night. Throughout the day, my brother is over there at least a minimum of six times a day. If there is a bad thunder storm he will sit with Dad and watch tv with him. My ex-sister-in-law comes over every Saturday morning to clean the house and do his laundry (and yes my brother and his ex get along). Family members check on him but I think he depressed the heck out of them. They get frustrated/annoyed/angry with him. My aunt (his sister) has tried to talk him into going to see another specialist (for Parkinson's) in Richmond. She would set it up the appointment and take him. He refuses. My uncle (his brother) has him over for dinner once a week but if anyone he does not know is invited he will not go....of if it's cloudy outside he won't go then either. I've tried to get him to come to Delaware for a visit at the very least. He refuses. I tell him I have a nice recliner and a remote control. He refuses. You know his excuse? He takes too long in the bathroom. I tell him I have three bathrooms and he can take as long as he wants. When Wayne drove down at Christmas to pick up his Dad to bring him back to Delaware for the holiday he tried to talk my Dad into coming also. He refused. I've tried everything I know. By the end of my visits with Dad it is a relief to drive home to Delaware. I am blessed to have the brother I have...and you know my brother has not always been the best brother or son for that matter...but since he's stopped drinking (he's now a recovering alcoholic) he's been wonderful.

Jean, I want to say hello...and good morning...but I'm worn out from typing about my Dad...but you have been so kind in your support to me about my Dad and my father-in-law....

...and oh yeah...update abut my father-in-law. He saw the surgeon that did the work on his leg, yesterday. The doctor wants him off his leg for another 4 weeks. Marvin is choosing to stay in the rehabilitation/transitional hospital he is in now until he is officially released. He's in good spirits. But I think he needs a break from the food in the hospital. I'm going to suggest to Wayne that we take him a pizza (he loves this) on Saturday night and we eat with him. And my oldest daughter is going also and that will be a surprise to him (and to my Dad as well as she will see him also).

Good Morning, Flowers! The sun is shining, NO wind, and it's a cool 51 degrees in my corner of the world. We are taking our senior pastor and his wife out for lunch today. The church is having a farewell dinner the 19th, but we will be in MN so will miss it. Other than that it's just sorting through the never ending pile on the kitchen island, and a couple loads of laundry.

"Gma" -- Thank you for starting the new thread today. I hope your air conditioner continues to "work" enough to keep you comfortable. I was sorry to read about Jack's foot; I can't imagine why they wouldn't take an x-ray to prevent more damage if nothing else. I know when your foot hurts you hurt all over! You will enjoy wearing your new cruise clothes and be right in style by the time you are ready to leave.

Gail -- I had to chuckle about your crown being a bit tarnished! Bob would get upset with his mom because she would either twist the facts around or play innocent when confronted about a family matter. He'd pin her down on the facts until she would admit she didn't know for sure. She spent her last year living in an assisted living facility (her choice) here in town. We've never lived in the same town with either set of parents so it was an adjustment. He's one of four children but the oldest and only one living in IA while I was an "only." How did the interview go for Wayne? Are you knitting lots of dish cloths?

I need to get dressed and get busy. Hope you all have a wonderful Wednesday!

Jean -- from Iowa!

Good afternoon, ladies! It's 92 degrees, but not humid.

It's 81 in my house and I can live with that. The AC man came. I thank God for not letting my house burn down. There is a second breaker box outside the house for the AC (it goes through 2 since it is also on the breaker inside. That box is what blew up and it melted all the wires! Anyway, I'm getting an electrician to replace that and then they will replace the AC and heat so that will be done. I cancelled my trip to PA and the other 2 retreats I had scheduled for this year. Getting this stuff taken care of is more important. It's going to be $5,500 for both. I also thank God we have this honest AC/Heat business in Yorktown that does a good job and doesn't rip you off. They have done work for us in the past.

I did my water Zumba and water aerobics this morning at the Y. The water sure felt good.

Faye, you'll be needing those smaller clothes before you know it. Poor Jack has had so many knee problems and now his foot! I'd be going back to that doc every day until she x-rayed it.

Gail, I am with Fay - you are a good daughter and daughter-in-law and will have extra stars in your crown. And not buying yarn yesterday makes you a saint.

Jean, I wish we had a bra fitter around here. Sometimes Macy's or one of the other department stores has one in for a day or 2 and you have to make appoints, but it only once a year. I'm sure the young girls would sell us wonder bras or some such.

Hi, Maggie!

Have a great day!

Susan -- I'm also thankful you didn't burn your house down! I sometimes think repair businesses take advantage of women who live alone, but it sounds like you have an honest one working for you. It's good to get everything fixed asap, but I'm so sorry you have to cancel your quilting trips to do so. Congrats on doing your exercise today! I sure don't need a wonder bra as I have more than enough "wonder" as it is! It is thundering and the rain has begun so I'm shutting down the computer for the night.

See you all tomorrow!

Good morning ladies. It only got to around 78 and is supposed to be about 96 today. Unfortunately, the compressor on our ac turns off when the heat is excessive due to it continually running so then the house heats back up. It is something for the time being we will have to live with as the only solution is replacing the unit with a bigger one and we found out yesterday because it is tied in together they would have to replace the whole ac and furnace unit and it would cost us about 7-8 thousand dollars so we just deal with it and cool the house down when the temperature is not so high then turn it off when the compressor turns off. Our heat index will be around 103 today, ugh!

My plans for today include a haircut and nail job and getting a couple grocery items then back home until it is time to pick up Jack.

My son called yesterday afternoon to tell me my oldest sister's son's ex-wife though they were on and off again all the time was dead. They are still investigating but according to Jay she killed herself by driving 90 mph into a tree. She has had long time mental problems and over the last few months has attempted it a couple times so though they are grieving, I doubt they are surprised. I saw a picture of the van at the tv station website and the whole front back to the backseat is gone. It is a pretty horrific picture. Please send up prayers for my nephew. He is going to have a rough time of this for sure.

Susan: We had something similar except we weren't home. We were on vacation and had left our cat at the house with Kelly going to peek in on him from time to time. The ac quit working and come to find out, something upstairs on the furnace burned out and we are lucky it didn't burn the house down frankly. Glad you found someone reliable to replace and fix it up.

Gail: Anyone can get frustrated, angry and such with someone with depression issues because they are hard to deal with and nothing interests them so your crown is not tarnished. A lot of folks would stick someone like your dad in a nursing home and forget about him as it is easier. You have loved and cared for him even through the most frustrating times. You cannot do much with someone who is mentally sharp enough to make his own decisions and refuses help. I am sure your FIL had a good time with his pizza My prayers are with you as I know it takes a huge amount of strength to juggle what you are.

Jean: I am so irritated at that dr I can't stand it. He came yesterday afternoon having worn safety shoes all day that have steel toes and hard thick soles with his foot killing him. He put on his boot as soon as he got home and took his crappy medication they gave him but is going to have to put up with this until Monday afternoon when he sees her again. I told him even if it feels better, tell her is it killing him so they will xray it to make sure there are no breaks because it will cause him a lot of trouble later. I broke a bone in the exact area he is complaining about about 36 years ago and still have tinges of pain every once in awhile. He says it hurts to put weight on it and to me that signals some of a break.

Well I am going to go and put the dishes away and maybe knit a bit before Jack gets up in just a bit. Boy, I thought taking him to work at 6 was tough! Faye

Good Morning, Flowers! It's a cloudy breezy morning in my neighborhood. The weatherman says it will get up to 90 today, but it sure doesn't feel like it now. I have WW later and need to work on my ironing pile.

Beth calls after work while she is waiting to get on the interstate near the flooding in SD. She said there is talk of closing the interstate next week, and that there are sheriff deputies checking IDs of people trying to get off the interstate. She has to call every morning before leaving for work to see if she can get there and they have electricity. Bob was at a meeting last night and one of the guys was going over to help sandbag today. He said that some of the "fancy" home owners are taking out light fixtures, woodwork, and cupboards. There was an aerial picture in the paper today and the houses closest to the river all have pools. I can't imagine what a mess it is going to be to clean up afterwards. There is a park where lots of weddings take place and they have been cancelled for the summer. Brides are trying to find alternate reception areas because their first choices were places along the river. I can't help but feel there will be some major law suits against the Core of Engineers (?) that ok'd the water release. These dams were supposed to prevent flooding.

"Gma" -- The estimate for a new furnace and air conditioner seems really high to me. Will you get a second opinion? It is so sad about your nephew's ex; I will include the family in my prayers. Has Jack tried a gel insert in his boot? I know that sometimes helps cushion the foot. I really feel for him! Enjoy your haircut and getting your nails done today.

I need to get dressed and get busy! Have a terrific Thursday and enjoy!

Jean -- from Iowa!

Good morning, ladies. Only 84 right now and it's supposed to be in the high 80s today -- and low 50s tonight!

Faye, my townhouse is 1853 sq. ft. and the new AC and heat is costing $5500 installed. I'd get some more estimates before the thing goes out altogether. I really feel for Jack. That was terrible about that girl. The poor thing must have been so depressed and full of dispair.

Jean, they said they were opening the flood gates to save the bigger towns down river. I doubt you can sue the government.

I have quilting bee tonight so can enjoy Sandy's AC. LOL

Have a wonderful day!

Talking Titilating Thursday

GOOD AFTERNOON MAGNOLIAS

I slept in. It sure felt good. It is 90 degrees as I type and the talking heads say it will get up to 95 before the day is over here in the Heartland. Our trip to buy jerkey was a bust. He had sold out over the holiday weekend and the new bach is not ready. Well it wasn't really a bust for we had fun going and coming from that butcher shop which is over an hour away. He makes the absolute best. I should just make my own for I know how. My mother taught me and I have Emerials recipe. She also made "bathtub rootbeer" and I am not going to do that though for I don't have a huge wash tub to use and don't want to order one. Nor do I have a bottle capper device. She made awsome catsup also. Had a nice zing to it. She took the Sunset Magazine for the West Coast and got some great ideas out of it and had "can do" so made some neat things. But her root beer made the best root beer floats I have ever had. Now I settle for one made with sugar free A&W root beer and ff sf vanilla ice cream. A&W root beer is the best on the market I do believe. Barts runs a good second. I like to on occasion make a freezie. Mix the root beer and ice cream all up in a blender. Life is good.

DONNA FAYE That is a tragedy what happened. I certainly hope that your nephew gets some good counseling to get though these troubling times. Some of the best training I had was in how to deal with suicidal folks. You need to get a commitment each day from them that they won't do it that day. Each and every day as they are getting treatment. Suicide is such a final act. Isn't it fun to get your hair done and your nails all spiffed up. We are running about the same temp here as you are there in TN. I am so thankful that this air unit works well and keeps us cool. If the unit goes ka-put the church will replace it for it isn't something we would take with us when and if we ever leave here. We bought the fridge and freezer and washer and dryer because we wanted to keep them otherwise the church would have bought them for the house. We put up ceiling fans and some window treatments ~ but will just donate them for we certainly won't be taking them. We always leave a house in better condition than when we moved in. I just hope this air conditioner doesn't go out since they are a high ticket item.

JEAN Fargo floods every year. I wonder why they don't just bite the bullet and make that river deeper since it is so shallow and escapes its banks every year. Every year it floods at least it did when we lived in SD. But the floods are worse this year all over the world. Those folks that are taking the things off the walls and such are probably under insured. Most of that "stuff" they are taking out is custom made and very spendy. They are thinking of rebuilding. I say dig that river deeper to handle the water.

GOOD AFTERNOON SUSAN & GAIL Hope all is well with you this day.

I need to figure what it is I am going to make for dinner this day. Shopping in the freezer I can come up with a nice meal.

Susan -- I am wondering what will happen as the Missouri waters combine with the Mississippi and move further south. I hope people are paying attention along the way. Have fun at the quilting bee tonight and stay cool. I hope your place isn't too unbearable for you to sleep.

Maggie -- I'll take my 85 degrees instead of your 90! The wind has picked up but so has the humidity. The neighbors have trees with those little whirly whigger thingys and they collect by my front door. I would go scoop them up but until the wind quits there is no point. Sorry you didn't get your beef jerkey. I thought sure you were going to say you would make your own. We haven't heard much about Fargo flooding the last few years. I'm thinking that is the Red River, right? I know the Mighty Mo comes from MT.

My mashed potatoes and ice cream caught up with me at WW -- a pounds worth. I am so hungry for Chinese so may suggest that option for tonight and start with a clean slate tomorrow. Onward and downward we go!

As you can see, another early morning for me. The dog woke me up having to go out again so I thought to heck with it I would just stay downstairs and sleep but it wouldn't come so here I am. We are going to have a heat index of 105 today so I am staying home and staying indoors.

I got my haircut and nails done and a bit of shopping, but frankly in the heat it took it out of me and I just grabbed a sandwich and a diet coke on the way home and ate it driving then dragged in my store purchases and crashed on the recliner in the dark for an hour before I had to go out and go get Jack. We did Olive Garden early for dinner as my legs and feet hurt from retaining water from the heat. It was a pleasant dinner than we came home and just relaxed for the evening. I did a quick load of laundry so Jack would have fresh city logo tshirts he could wear as he only has two as the rest of them haven't come in yet. It is much cooler to wear the white tshirts that the dark uniform shirts to work and I don't mind.

I am so very proud of my nephew who has dug deep and found the strength to do what needs to be done. He went along with his bil to identify the body so her boys wouldn't have to do it then they went to the facility there in town that handles rehabs, mental illness, etc to find out why she was released. She has been in and out of that place over the years and a lot recently I understand and actually on the day of her death was in the center and was released to "self" even though her records clearly state she should only be released to her sons or husband because of her instability. They released her at noon and by 3 she was dead. I hope they sue the heck out of the dr and hospital for just letting her go like that. That is not to say that sooner or later she wouldn't have accomplished what she did, as people who have suicidal issues unfortunately sooner or later find a way, but she wouldn't have died at that time if they had only called my nephew or her boys. I just feel so bad for my nephew and her sons.

Jean: Believe me, at least we here in Memphis are paying attention as the river is on the rise slowly again. Hopefully, it is down enough to be able to absorb the swollen Missouri's waters. I was reading the online paper from South Bend last night and it said it was 78 degrees there and we were at 98! I told Jack and he kind of groaned and said that would be nice. I guess though when you are freezing and in feet and feet of snow, you can say that about us. Ugh, I read your post quick and originally saw you say your mashed potatoes and ice cream caught up with you and thought, ick who eats that together??? I could be a Chinese food addict so I really have to stay away from the stuff except once in awhile. We love PF Changs and I have this little shop that has good stuff too. The big price tag would be because the furnace and the ac would have to be removed, all the ductwork coils and all would have to be replaced, a bigger box to handle the bigger units, etc. So basically you would be putting in a new furnace and a new air conditioner. Jack was just talking with a guy at work who does HVAC on the side and he said that is the kind of price we would be looking at to increase the tonnage on our ac unit because to accomodate we would have to rip out everything. I know when we had the furnace replaced about 5 years ago if we had had to pay for it we would have had to fork over a few thousand dollars. We ended up paying nearly a thousand anyway even with a home warranty.

Maggie: I like A and W too. When I was a kid they had "Dog and Suds" drive inns which had great root beer. Do you remember when you were real little your mom could get you a root beer in those teeny tiny mugs? I always wanted one of those mugs but mom couldn't afford to buy us all one so I never did get one! Jack and I like IBC root beer too.

Susan: Our condo is about 100 sq feet smaller than yours and is basically a townhouse too. Do you happen to know what your tonnage is on your ac? We have a half ton at the moment and the guy who worked on our ac said it would probably be a lot better if we would up it 1/2 to 1 ton more. We are thinking of getting a portable ac unit to help with the cooling for now. Our ac works fine as long as the temps are like they are right now, but what happens is the house gets too hot for the ac to keep up with it and it runs constantly without stopping so it has to have a breather so to speak to cool down so the compressor will stop and when it does no more cooling of the coils. We haven't had this hot of weather this early in a long time so I hope this isn't an indication of how summer is going to be only worse.

You gals have a wonderful weekend. Jackson called me last night as he has gotten most of his birthday presents. I told him that his big present would be there tomorrow (today now) and he said why and I said because Nonny and Granddad wanted to get him lots of presents and he again said why and I said because we love you bunches and why and on and on. I gave up and told him I loved him and ask to talk to his dad!

Good Morning, Flowers! The sun was peeking out when I got up this morning but has disappeared. If it comes out and stays out it will be hot and sticky again today. I have an appt. to get my glasses checked this morning; I don't think the prescription is right, and I'm still having issues with the no line working on the computer at church. I don't know if the people in the office don't communicate with each other or what, but I've called with questions and/or concerns which take sometimes up to a week for an answer.

"Gma" -- I woke up around 3 and couldn't get back to sleep. Bob was restless and said he'd been up wandering around because his stomach hurt. We didn't eat all the same things last night, but I was fine. I couldn't get back to sleep but was determined to stay in bed. I hope you thought of me while you were eating at the OG! We are going to an "Elvis" program/play of some sort in Sioux City next week with another couple. I'm hoping we will have time to eat first and OG will be my choice if asked. That really is sad about your nephew's wife being released from the facility. It makes one wonder if anyone anywhere does their job correctly any more. I have a little A & W mug; I think we (I know I didn't do it) stole it when we were teenagers on the loose. There is an A & W on our way to the cabin and we sometimes will stop there on our way home. It's hard to believe Jackson is 4 -- time flies! What is his big present? Kolby would just lay the phone down and walk away if Beth wasn't right beside him.

I need to get busy and start another SOS box. I visited with a neighbor who lives nearby and she has a "hoarders" room too! They are adding on a double garage to the double garage they already have and she expects the "hoarded stuff" to spread! I would lose my happy home! Enjoy your day today!

Jean -- from Iowa!

Talking Finally Friendly Friday

GOOD MORNING MAGNOLIAS

It is currently 83 and expected to climb to 93 by 5 o'clock this day. I have decided we didn't have any spring but jumped right into summer again this year. We don't have 4 seasons here but three. Our library here in this little burg has a deal where I could download Audiobooks and eBooks on my Blackberry. Such a deal to be able to do that and not have to buy books for the phone ~ just check them out of the library. That is if I want to read a book on my phone. They are getting just too cute with the downloads available. We have certainly come a long way baby. Yep I can remember those old dial up phones with a party line and our phone numbers were just a few digets. Life is good. I need to clean off my desk so I can tear off May for it is already the 3rd of June. I have a few things sitting on that area. After all it is on the middle of the surface of the top of my desk. One of those big desk calendars. Will is out doing some yard work and they dogs are helping him. Beanie loves to be in the thick of things. Ole Ragg Mopp just kicks back and watches and lazes in the sun. They are fixin to remodel Applebees and Will had to take some pictures of some of the items they have hanging on the wall for the museum. If they don't have some of the "old" items they are taking down they can get them from Applebees for the museum. The pictues were to check if they already have those items or not. Anyway so we ate there last evening. I didn't choose from the WW offerings but went for the ribs. Yikes. If I show a loss this next weigh in I will be surprised. Shame on me but they were so delicious and it has been a long while since I had any so good. I'll not snivel if I show a gain. I am back on it today though. Gonna be OP the rest of the week which is 3 days. It was worth it, so there. I ordered something real neat that I am looking forward to getting. Since it is so humid here at times my spices in my jars tend to clump. I put rice in some of them but found something I know I will like better. They are called "Spice Saver Tablets. They are food safe tablets that absorb moisture and you just put one in a spice jar and it goes to work. Now I will just have to figure out which ten spices I want to put them in. If ten aren't enough I know where to get more. I want them especially for my lemon pepper, garlic and onion powder and some of my spice mixes. I found them in a catalogue called The Artisan Table by Cooking Enthusiast.com. I have bought several neat "different" things from them through the years.

DONNA FAYE Oh my. With that on her record that she only be released to a "person" and not on her own ~ they definitely have a law suit. Did you know that A&W have made little mugs but they are smaller and in colors and plastic. I used to have a couple of the small origional glass ones but they have gone by the wayside during some move or another.

JEAN Another garage! Wow she must be serious and her husband is an enabler. That is a sickness that does have a cure. I do hope you get your glasses deal fixed for that is miserable when they don't work right. I know for I once had the wrong perscription and it was terrible. Keep on them and they have to make it right.
