Daily Weigher Question
I weigh everyday... but I am leaving on vacation this afternoon. I can't decide if I should take my scale or not. I am afraid that I will get anxiety worrying that I've gained weight if I don't take it. But, I also think it is a bit overboard that I feel anvious at the thought of being without my scale for 10 days.
What do you think?

I think that if taking it helps you stay on plan, then you should take it. hope you have a great vacation!

You do not need your scale to know if you are eating on point or not. By now, you should be able to eyeball your food and know how many calories are in most things. Just stay away from creams and sauces - but keep to veggies, light dishes marked on a menu. If you have a smart phone - google that.
I mean, really, what will a scale tell you? That what you ate yesterday was high sodium? That what you ate two days ago was high calorie?
Being that anxious isn't healthy. This is life and life includes vacations and being away from your normal routine. We have to learn to work around life. Look, Jomatho left for a vacation, didn't lose a ton, but didn't gain either. She came back refreshed and raring to continue on with her journey - vacation didn't derail her. If anything it helped her keep at it. Thanksgiving, Christmas, etc... they are times we will eat a bit more. What's important is to realize it and work off those calories in the weeks following. It doesn't mean we should give up that pumpkin pie for the rest of our lives.
Now, I know you are closing in on 100 pounds lost. I know how powerful those numbers are right now ESPECIALLY since you just came off a big stall. But don't let that ruin/taint your vacation with your husband - which I know you need. Just do the best you can with being active, making wise food decisions and drinking water - not calorie rich drinks. It will be OK.

I love berryblondboys' response! I think it's the perfect suggestion, summed up very nicely! Besides, if you and your hubby are really having fun, your weight will be the very last thing you'll worry about (several naughty winks)!
Enjoy yourself. The scale has a place... at your home.

Funny. Because I am leaving on vacation today too. Scale is packed. Hate to admit it but it must come with me. I could use the scale at the house I'm going to but it's not MY scale and I don't want to question the other scales accuracy.
Safe travels!

I would take the scale but try not to use it, but I would like to know that I have that option if I should become anxious. Also, keep in mind that when you eat out, you may retain a bit more water than when you eat at home, so don't be surprised if the scale reflects that....also, I think flying increases bloating too. Food for thought.

It's a little too heavy for me to want to pack, but I am debating taking mine as well. I actually think I may just weigh when I get there, on my Mom's scale, and use that as my baseline 0.00 for the trip, so I can gauge up or down as needed. But I may not even do that. In past trips, I have used my food logs and not, not weighed at all, and still been fine. So for me it is all about what is comfortable in a given situation.
Were I you, I'd probably leave it at home because I'd just continue my food log, but you know your own tendencies. If not logging your weight daily would cause you more stress than watching salt gains on a vacation, then bring the scale!

Does your scale need a vacation, too?
Mine never does. It cheerfully waits for my return.

If it isn't very heavy, I'd bring it.

I would definitely leave it at home. Because the whole time, whether I saw a loss or gain, I wouldn't believe what the scale said. It has to be in MY bathroom, sitting in the EXACT same spot for me to count it as accurate.
Plus, as others have said, this is a vacation, so enjoy yourself, but be mindful of eating as well as you can and being active. If this is indeed a lifestyle change and not a diet, then you're going to have times when you cannot weigh yourself. Enjoy yourself knowing that even if you come back with a couple (only a couple!!) of extra pounds, you know have the knowledge and tools you need to get right back into your routine.
To all the lucky ones heading out on vacation, have an excellent time!

I am away from home, and thus my scale, every other weekend. I swear I have a little whoosh after each of those weekends. It is a mental thing. I still eat on plan, but I don't think about the numbers. Mind-body connection. I wouldn't bring it.
