Default SBD Chat Friday May 20th

Wow, what a week for a vacation! Today it actually might not rain but we're pretty tired of being here at this point. Plum Island saved the vacation yesterday. I discovered it was only an hour down so we went there and had a really good day. Today looks even better there - almost sunny and 60! We are packing up and heading down for the day. The combination of rain and cold has made it challenging but it was still a relaxing week away from home.

I packed my hoop and have had fun with that. We also had an overnight visit from a good friend who lives north of Boston. I can't regret a week of vacation but I sure would have liked better weather. All the rain and inactivity is probably going to show on the scale too.

Hope your Friday has some sun too!

Best bird of the week:

Good morning!

It's an exciting day here: my teen has senior class day and is giving one of the two senior speeches. Lots of grad parties tonight.

I am still baking up a storm for our grad party next week and have something in the oven already that needs to cool completely before the next steps which I'll do later today. Still trying to figure out the new oven; the temps seem off So far I've made four kinds of cookies and not had even a nibble!!!

TallandThin - I usually come back and read either later the same day or the next morning.

Cyndi - Hope you have a great day today. Bummer about the weather.

Have a great day everyone.

Cyndi, sorry about the weather. It's been a bummer week here too and it shows in my mood. Is that a beaver in the tree? Silly thing! Doesn't he know to cut down the tree before he eats it? Must be an American beaver.

Wasting Time, funny but I am in the middle of baking too! I have four food porn cakes in the oven right now for the bake sale tomorrow. Now that I think of it, this is the first time baking a cake in my new oven - I hope it's dead on! I have three kinds of cookies to do alter too.

Struggled through yesterday doing the first payroll for our students. I keep hoping it'll get easier but ... Never mind, their cheques are done and on the desk at the Office. The first day of the season is tomorrow and everyone - except me - is excited. If you ever come up this way, let us give you a tour. Here's the link if you want a preview.

It may not rain today! Right now we are in a pea soup fog and need some sun to burn it off. We had several t-storms yesterday and poor Disney is a nervous wreck. She has decided that behind the toilet is a good place to hide. Jazz doesn't seem scared but hangs out with here anyhow.

So I'm in gear. Later this morning I'll lug my many pots of plants over to the Church and set up for the sale tomorrow. There are about 100 pots over there already that need to be priced as well. I'm hoping to get to the greenhouse to pick up my front porch planters. It'll sure be nice to just sit out there and sip morning coffee next week even if we get more rain.

TGIF after a busy week.

Cyndi ~ That's a shame that the weather is playing such havoc with your vacation. Have a good day at Plum Island, and I hope the day stays dry!

Karen ~ Sounds like a very special day for your son, and for you, too! Happy Birthday to you!

It looks wet outside, but that seems to be becoming the norm. I think I may drive out to a plant nursery and look for some interesting flower combinations to plant in my hanging baskets that are (usually) in the sunny areas of my yard. That will lift my spirits on this overcast day.

It's a porcupine and sooo cute way up there in the tree. A couple of years ago we saw one sleeping in the same area. Apparently this one was getting ready for a night out

Hope the sun makes it your way this weekend Ruth! I'm looking forward to some plant sales at home. I have bare spots to fill.

Good Morning, off to the library to work today then have a spinners/knitters meeting tonght.

Cyndi, I only live 45 minutes from Plum Island and haven't seen a glimmer of sun here, so glad you found some. There are some beautiful beaches in Mass. Up in Maine the botanical gardens in Boothbay Harbor are gorgeous.

Waisting time, congrats on avoiding the cookies, that's a lot of temptation. My daughter was baking brownies the other night for school and I was mighty tempted.

Have a great day everyone.

Nan

Sheesh! I'm Canadian and didn't recognize a porcupine! I guess I need to start wearing glasses when online.

LOL...I recognize the porcupine! I thought, "uh-oh, hopefully no poor vet will have to pull out the quills on some adventurous dog's nose!!"....but don't tell anyone, they're fun to pull out!

I decided on my spare day off, that I will be building an ark. Time to draw up the plans!

Good morning

Well the doctor loaded me up with muscle relaxers and pain pills so hopefully it will be gone soon. Mainly just bothering me when I sit and when I drive.

Scrambling to get everything done before Sunday for graduation party. DD1 has dance recital on Saturday as well, so very busy weekend.

My folks and two of my sisters will get here today and tonight, so I am looking forward to visiting with them.

Sorry no time for personals.

Loved your bird of the day picture Cyndi gave me a smile.

Make it a great day everyone

Apologies for the following moment of maternal bragging My son not only did a great job on his senior speech today in my very biased opinion, but he won an award for being one of the top ten students based on GPA. (There were actually 17 since the numbers were tied, but still.) Anyhoo, just had to crow for a minute.
