Starving all day.... Grrr.....
Well, since buckling down about two weeks ago, I've had really good success, dropping a whopping TEN pounds... (although at least three or so was bloat, water weight, night time weigh in, etc.)
But all of sudden yesterday, I got super hungry. Stayed on plan anyway, but woke up in the night a couple of times feeling hungry. Today it has just been relentless. I'm eating an amount that usually satisfies me and I'm just starving.
Not really tempted to go off plan and eat, and I've employed drinking water and chewing gum to distract me... but after I eat, it's like I've hardly eaten.
I think my body is just going Yowza what happened...!?!?!?!
Hope it's better tomorrow.

Are you pre-TOM? That happens to me either the day before or the day after TOM. I can't seem to get enough in my body.

Maybe you honestly need more calories for a bit...maybe you could experiment. Try eating just 100 more a few days and see how you feel and what the scale says. But maybe Emme's right and it's just good ol' TOM, throwing one of those lovely curve balls.

I agree with the TOTM, this month I had terrible PMS and my goodness was I starved! I just added in a few extra snacks like a babybel mini cheese or some fat free yogurt.

I'm with you again Uber! I've been SO hungry all week this week. TOM is due in a few days so I'm hoping it's that, but it could also be the fact that I haven't binged in 10 days so my body hasn't been getting as many calories as it's been used to for a while.
Let's hope we can both get through the hunger and come out the other side with the scale co-operating!

I'm with everyone else about TOM. I want EVERYTHING edible that crosses my path right before. And it is hard to keep yourself from eating it all! Add a couple extra snacks maybe?

Could be TOM. I also recommend trying to eat 3 meals and 3 snacks a day this is what I do and Im not hungry unless its the week before TOM I just try to drink alot more water around that time. If this is the begining of your journey I remember the first few weeks I felt like I was starving but knew it was ok to feel that way it went away you get use to it.

Maybe try adding in a little extra protein? When I am ravenous like that I will replace some of my carbs with either fat or protein and it seems to help. I've had days where there's nary a carb in sight because I'm eating nothing but protein and/or (healthy) fat. It seems to keep that gnawing hunger feeling at bay on days like that.
BTW - WAY TO GO on 10 lbs lost!!! You're a rock star!!

When this happens to me, I see what my nutrition profile for each meal looks like and mix it up.
For example, if you're a high protein in the morning kind of girl, try doing a complex carb for a day (like oatmeal). Or if I have a lot of veggies at lunch, I bulk it out with more protein. Sketch out your calorie profile -- maybe you need more calories in the morning or lunch and less at night (or the other way around).
Sometimes my body just gets used to a particular way that I'm eating and when I mix it up, it takes my body longer to respond with hunger -- kinda like exercise.

I was like that this week. I felt like I was hungry the moment I finished eating. I just HATE that! Turns out it was my TOM. All better now.

i get that before my period.
it's hard to take, especially when you're doing so well on plan.
it will pass though, i'm sure.
hang in there.

I agree with Gale about the protein. Some days you are dying from hunger. When I am I eat a boiled egg and hope it kicks it. Then I am thankful the day is over. Sad. I know, but it is unbearable sometimes. I also try not to eat apples when I am hungry. For some reason they make me hungrier. I also eat a nip of cheese (like a tiny square of feta - 50 cals) or a piece of turkey lunch meat for 50 cals. My sister eats a handful of nuts to chase away hunger. I don't because my hand can accommodate about 20 nuts.

I wrote this last year to explain those "hunger attacks" and plateaus -
So Metabolism sees a calorie defiict and goes knocking on the fat cell doors. The conversation with the cells on the first floors of the "fat hotel" goes something like this:
M - "Hey, send out some of that stored energy, we've got a deficit here."
FC - "No trouble, didn't you notice we have a revolving door here? Take what you need, we know you'll be giving it back."
But Metabolism doesn't give anything back, Cary sticks with her plan. Now Metabolsim has to climb up a few flights to the next floors of the hotel:
M - "Hey, send out some of that stored energy, we've got a deficit here."
FC - " Well, it will take a while, you haven't asked for a donation in so many years that we put the extra in the back. Go ask the neighbors while we sort out what we can give you and check back later"
So it takes a little longer to empty out these fat cells, but eventually Metabolism becomes such a pest that they let that fat go. But STILL Cary sticks to her plan. Now Metabolism is climbing to the upper floors:
M - "Hey, send out some of that stored energy, we've got a deficit here."
FC - "Zzzzz" (These are the Rip Van Winkle of fat cells, haven't been bothered in 20 years).
M - "Hey, I'm not kidding, I need that energy!"
FC - "(yawning) Who are you and why should we give you our stuff?"
I think right now they're negotiating...
But Cary WILL be sticking to her plan.
So hang in there. I think those annoyed fat cells send out hunger signals right before they give up and let some more fat go.
