Question Graduation??

Just wondering if anyone else has a child graduating this year. My oldest is graduating next Saturday, but today was the Senior Awards Ceremony. She had to wear her cap and gown and every time I see her in it, I can't help but cry. I'm sure I'll be a complete wreck next Saturday!!

It doesn't matter that there are still 5 younger kids at home, it's hard to let any of them grow up.

Mothergoose...no kids graduating yet (son graduates in 2005), but the empty nest is calling me, too! I took daughter to color guard tryouts at the high school last week (she will be a 9th grader next year, and yes, she made color guard ) and it hit me - my baby is going to be in high school! I nearly started to cry...

The day I graduated (I'm the oldest of two), my mother was preparing my graduation party and realized she had to run to the store. She promptly drove off the road and over a huge arrow sign (the one that would alert any normal driver that the road turned). She had to have the car towed home. She called me crying and told me the story, so I asked her what else she was doing besides driving and she told me she:
drank a cup of coffee
smoked a cigarette
read her list of thing to get
made a call on her cell phone
and then decided to find her checkbook under the seat

I laughed so hard. She was so mad that I was laughing.

Don't try to do too much on graduation day.

Wow, Holly! Close to your graduation and almost to Onederland. This is a great year for you! What is your degree in, by the way?

My youngest graduated last June and moved out in August, but I wasn't an empty nester for very long since she came back to live with us in January. All three of my children have come back home at some time or another after they've left. Since we've always had children around from the time we met 22 years ago (his and hers, and then one of our own), we were kind of looking forward to an empty nest!

i'm getting a BS in computer science. i'm SOOOOO ready to get out of here. and if i'm 199 when i do, that will be awesome. if i don't quite make it, i will right after!

my mom wasn't TOO upset when i left. i spent 3 years at a junior college, so i didn't move out until i was almost 21. by then, it was time. and my two brothers, ages 17 and 15, still live with her.

Good major, Holly! My DH is a software engineer (actually now he's a firmware engineer) who got his BS in CS and then an MS in CS.

Congrats on surviving that freshman year, Apryl! It can be a rough one.

Congrats, Holly!
