Bummer, I lost a whole post and have to start over so I imagine this one will be shorter. We are going to be very hot today at around 90 and with all this water around the humidity is going to be brutal. One of the corp of engineers said the Mississippi is normally 3/4 mile across, and it is currently 3 miles across!!! It is supposed to crest tonight sometime and stay that way for at least 10 days before making its way back down so I imagine Jack will be working this way for awhile.

Susan: I sure hope Glory is on the upswing. Does she have asthma or COPD issues like you do? That was some meal you were able to avoid most of. I imagine the cake alone could have put a lb on you if you ate a whole piece. Everything did sound delicious though.

Jean: Hope you, Bob and the kids had a great time together yesterday. I do wish the two kids lived close together so that we could get together as a family more often than once a year, but is isn't to be so we enjoy it when he can. Alicia called me last night to wish me a Happy Mother's Day. She had been in Indianapolis all weekend doing a mini marathon. She is such a sweetheart to think of me because Jay had already called me as did Kelly earlier in the day. Kelly bought me a gift card to Knitpicks so I will have fun picking out some new yarn when I get that. She had them email it so me, but it hasn't gotten here so far. If it isn't in my email by this evening I will let her know so she can contact them. I am sure she did it yesterday and they probably weren't processing anything yesterday. They don't do immediate stuff at that site.

Maggie: I imagine the doggys are all up and at em this morning. Fortune is driving me nuts. He wants to go out constantly, won't lay still, etc and I know it is because he doesn't understand why his routine is messed up, but it is taking its toll on me, especially when Jack is sleeping because he is barking, which he never does. He went out this morning and refused to come back in and I was in night clothes, but had to trudge out there and haul him indoors.

Not much else going on. Should finish that sock today as I am about 1/3 of the way done with the toe now and it goes pretty fast. Hope you gals all have a great start to your week. I am going to go and get some canteloupe and a piece of lowfat frozen french toast and have breakfast. Have a good one! Faye

Talking Marvelous Monday

GOOD MORNING MAGNOLIAS

What a georgeous day here in the Heartland. It is 75 now and I would like it to stay there but the talking heads say it will get hotter. I am a very happy camper this day. I showed a loss of another pound. Yep I am down a pound even after yesterdays celebration (which wasn't really that out of line). I am just 4 pounds away from being able to move a weight chunk over on my scale. Right now it sits on the 250 mark and after the loss of 4 more it will be sitting on the 200 mark. And the next time it gets moved over will be to the 150 mark. Now I get to start a new week with a load of brand new 49 points to spend as needed. We finished up the fresh pineapple yesterday but still have a few strawberries. Need to get to the store and load up on fruit again. WW sure did me a favor when they made most of the fruits points change. We have 3 collage graduation parties to attend this week. I am really going to have to have my will power working and just concentrate on having a good time and stay away from the food. I have not yet planned this days food but have a bit of time left before I have to think about that.

DONNA FAYE Our electricity was acting funny last night while we were at church and Will didn't miss a beat while preaching. Off and on several times. It wasn't quite as dramatic as one time in MN there was a huge clap of thunder hit and the lights went out and it was pitch black dark in the building while Will was making an inportant statement. Quite dramatic. It was still light outside last evening so we could still see. I sure hope that Jack can keep getting to work and not get stuck there and can't get home. Better to be stuck at home. The mighty Mississippi is spreading out quite far. We have bottled up our waterways and they want to be free. The doggies are gone somewhere with Will. I seem to remember his saying last evening he was going to the nursery to see about some plants he wants. Going to get that sock done this day are ya? I need to finish up a building and I don't have the gumption to do that today. I have other things I need to do this day and need to get to them.

JEAN, GAIL, SUSAN I know all of you gals are doing well this day and in to something.

Have a wonderful start to a new weight loss week y'all.

Good Morning, Flowers! It was pretty dark outside early this morning so I thought sure we would get some rain sometime. The sun has come out so it's quite humid and warm at 76 degrees. I went to the church office this morning; my part would go so much faster if people would use assigned envelopes and write checks rather than cash. I finally got smart and put check envelopes together and cash envelopes together so that helps speed the process a little. On my way up the street I saw an elderly man sitting at the end of his driveway; today is recycle day and his bag was sitting beside him. He waved at me and I stopped to help him up. He kept saying he was fine but I hung on to him and walked him back to the garage. I just phoned his wife to make sure he was ok; she said he has a skinned up elbow (through his jacket) and a scraped knee. He was pretty wobbly but determined to get in the house by himself.

We had a little black furry visitor on the deck this morning. Ernie was meowing softly where he usually has a "get off my deck" howl. I talked to the half grown kitten and it came right up to the screen and went nose-to-nose with Ernie. I'm sure if I would have opened the door it would have come inside. The cat hater has his live trap set next door so I hope the cat doesn't go that direction.

"Gma" -- I can't imagine all the flooding. I see it on the news and am in awe. I hope your electricity has settled down and no more outages. I'm sure you will get your sock done and on its way soon. Fortune reminds me of having a determined 2 year old!

Maggie -- on losing another pound on your way down the scale! We often grill more meat than we will eat at one time. Bob had to refill our grill gas tank and he said the price is almost three times what it was last year. Our car gas just dropped 10 cents this morning!
I need to check of leftovers for lunch and get a start on that before Bob gets home. Hope you all have a marvelous Monday!

Jean -- from Iowa!

Talking Back To Yack

GOOD AFTERNOON MAGNOLIAS

It is now 93 degrees here in the Heartland at 2:55 in the afternoon as I type. Of course our air conditioner is on and the ceiling fans whirring. We just got back from picking up the dogs from their groomer giving them a bath. They both smell so good now. Just now for it doesn't take long for them to wear out that nice smell. We stopped by and got our coffee and a wonderful blueberry muffin. It is so nice that we have learend to split things. You gals are gonna love this. Will told me today that a new Cabri by Whirlpool washer and dryer are being delivered tomorrow. He got a deal of about a $100 off the set. Awhile back we had discussed that we needed a new set of our own. The church currently owns the ones we now use for they were left here by a former preacher. If we have our own when we do leave here one day we can take them with us and rehook the old ones up. Meanwhile we will just put the older ones in the "storage" room which is downstairs also. Will does the laundry so he should have the set he wants. I don't think it plays music but it has lots of neat bells and whistles and sensors that let you wash small loads so it saves on water. I certainly don't mind at all doing laundry but don't do stairs well and he doesn't mind doing it. There just isn't anyplace upstairs for them to be used. It would be too much to have the house replumbed and make one of these bedrooms upstairs into a laundry room. I would like that but it won't happen. I got my Williams Sonoma Outdoor Kitchen catalogue today and they have some grill pans of perferated stainless steel I want to get. Probably have to wait until I get to put some money on my debit card next month. I tried to tell Will he could give me that $100 he saved on the W&D and I could use it on my stainless grill pans. He just shot me a look.

JEAN What a nice thing you did for your neighbor man and then make a follow up call. Neighbors need to look out for each other and you are a good one to have. I imagine charcoal bricketts are more spendy this year also. I think we are still using last years but in our smoker bbq-er we can use wood which is helpful. Will trimmed the apple tree and we have plenty of that wood to last this summer anyway. But in our Webber we do need charcoal. The price of gas stayed the same here and also in Texas.

SUSAN & GAIL Have a great afternoon.

Hi everyone!

I think my life has turned into a soap opera.

I had a very nice weekend, spending Saturday with my oldest daughter and my grandson.

I had a great time at the Maryland Sheep and Wool Festival up until about 12:45pm because...I FAINTED! Standing in line waiting my turn in the ladies room at the fair. I have never passed out before. It was so strange coming to with 3 EMTs and my friend hovering over me! And yes I saw my family doctor today who said it was sugar spike thing. Not only did I faint but I hit my face when I went down and I have the most purple shiner of all time. I look like someone beat me up. My glasses cut the bridge of my nose. And where I hit my face at the brow that is cut too. I have bruises and scrapes on my hands. Once I came to I was feeling much better. Before it happened I was feeling terribly nauseous and I honestly thought it was from smelling all that fried food the fairs always cook. I didn't realize that another symptom was extreme tiredness and let me tell you I was yawning like I needed a nap badly. Plus my blood pressure is high. Anyway, I had an EKG this morning and I'm fine. I go to get bloodwork done tomorrow morning. I have to make an appointment at a cardiac office to wear a heart monitor. And my blood pressure medicine is being increased to something stronger. I'm okay but I don't look okay.

Donna Faye, I thought about you yesterday...before I passed out. You would've loved all the vendors there selling yarn. What is so great was buying yarn from private sheep and alpaca farmers who spin their own yarn. I saw some gorgeous stuff! And yes, I bought some!! And I've thought of you constantly because of all the flooding that you are experiencing now. I'm so glad where you live you will not be flooded out of your home. Y'all just be careful.

Maggie, roses! That is so nice! I love the WW program with the free fruit. I surely did not get overweight by eating too much fruit! Congratulations on another pound gone...forever! I love those milestones. It felt really good to be able to tell my family doctor this morning how much weight I've lost since he last saw me last year.

Susan, I'm sorry to hear that your friend, Glory is so sick. I'll keep her in my prayers. You are a good friend. We all need friends that can stand in for our relatives when something goes wrong. I know I'm surely grateful for my friend yesterday being there for me!

Jean, bless your heart! I know the man that you helped was grateful for you being there. I'm grateful that my FIL's neighbor was outside to hear his call for help when he fell.

I'm okay...but my face feels weird. My eye is so swollen all I want to do is close it and I'm ending up typing with one eye open. I need to go put an ice pack on it again.

Y'all take care...

It is 91 degrees right now and has set a record . . . the weather channel said so. I am NOT ready for this hot weather this soon! I would like some spring weather days. I'm glad the computer is on the east side of the house because it is a bit cooler in here. No, I don't have the air on because I know it will cool down as soon as the sun goes down.

Maggie -- I have the Whirlpool Cabrio washer and dryer. I still like to think I am smarter than it is! We certainly couldn't tell any difference in our water and electric bills either. I would love to have the laundry room upstairs by the bedrooms; that makes sense to me! I'd probably never set foot in the basement if that were the case.

Gail -- I imagine you look like you have been in a fight. I feel so badly for you but glad that there is a simple explanation as to why you fainted. It's good that you are having a follow-up with your own doctor. Ernie and I took a nap this afternoon. I haven't been sleeping as well as I normally do and I guess that caught up with me today. I'm still yawning.

Bob is at practice so I need to do some picking up and decide on something for supper. Grilling hamburgers sounds like a good plan!

Talking Back For A Bit

GOOD LATE AFTERNOON MAGNOLIAS

You all probably know how much Will loves baseball. He has worked in it for years and hasn't done any since moving here. However, the gentleman that is head of First Calll where Will is a volunteer to arrange rooms and food for indigent folks was talking to him today when they were down at the phone place getting new phones for the volunteers to carry. Anyway he volunteers with the kids and asked Will if he had any experience ~ does he! Well he is going down to help the guy this evening since he is the only one doing it and Will feels sorry for him since he doesn't know much about the game. I can just see where this is going.

JEAN So we will have twins in W&D. Our basement is actually a floor below the main floor. Since this is tornado alley (used to be anyway) they built a lot of houses this way. Most of the rooms down there have wall to wall carpeting. I think the one Will uses for his reloading room has pergo flooring. But we don't get any flooding down there at all. The rec room which is below the main room up here is pergo also. It is just like a two storey house with one floor underground. Three bedrooms down there and three up here. Instead of a kitchen & dining room down there is a large laundry room. Two bathrooms down there also. I just never go down there. I told Will he could rig up one of those electric chair things on the railing that I could sit in and go up and down stairs and he said, "What ever for? There is nothing for you to go down there for." I go down the stairs to the basement at the chruch where the kitchen and dining room is but I am down there for a period of time before I have to go back up. If I did laundry here it would be just too many trips up and down the stairs for my leg. So that's that.

GAIL What a scare that must have been for you to go through. Now that you are getting all checked out with your doctor they can regulate your system and get you back to exact. It is interesting how our systems can alert us to a problem that needs to be taken care of. I bet you look cute with that shiner. Other than that episode I am glad you had a good time and bought some things that caught your eye at the festival. It is fun to go back to the doc when you have lost weight. I like the way the eyebrows go up when they see the change in numbers. You take care now and no more falling down ya hear! Steady as you go.

I need to go get something for Will to eat before he heads out to the ball field. Yack at y'all later.

Good morning to you all! Well I guest the river crested last night so we shall see how long it takes to recede now. They are saying at least another 2 weeks for it to be back to normal levels. I guess we shall see, that's all we can do. I saw a couple of recent pictures of one of the casinos an the entrance has the water up to about a foot from the top of those huge doors they always have. Some of them just have flooded parking lots, but a couple have some major problems looks like.

I picked out some gorgeous yarn yesterday and am adding a bit to it and will purchase in the next day or so. I also bought a book on learning to colorwork because that might be interesting to do sometime. I haven't done any intricate colorworking just stripes and I did a hat once.

Gail: Oh sweety, I am soooooo sorry. I know you must feel just awful. I have a friend who lives in Maryland and knits, that's the way we met online actually, and she always goes to that fair and is always so excited about it each year. My problem I think would be controlling myself! I was bored stiff yesterday because my yarn didn't come. I just don't want to start a new project because I need to get Alicia's started and finished before her birthday. I found a cute free pattern for coffee cup cozys for like Starbucks cups and such. I picked out some beautiful yarn to make several of those then I can give them as gifts and such. The pattern is 3d and very easy. I hope the bruises fade fast as does all your cuts and scratches and you feel better.

Jean: It is hotter than blue blazes here too and so humid you can hardly breath. My floors are actually sticky from humidity and I can do nothing about that. I am just thankful they aren't under water. My heart just goes out to all the people whose homes are under water right now and are leaving in shelters for maybe weeks. I think maybe next year we will replace my washer before it goes belly up. It is almost 12 years old and probably ready to go soon. I will get a bigger wash tub I think since there is plenty of room in the laundry room for a bigger washer. I think we will be having spaghetti tonight. I made Jack's favorite meat loaf, scalloped potato and baked beans for dinner, using things like egg beaters, ff milk, etc to cut the points a lot and cut down on ketchup with is high in sugar and such. It made the kitchen hot, but I turned on the exhaust fan and put a fan in the kitchen and it wasn't too bad. I know, seems like you jumped right from winter to summer! Did you see Arnold and Maria have separated? Wow, big surprise on that one, he being a Republican and she a very liberal democrat. I am surprised it too so long.

Maggie: Jack would love to do little league again I think, but with his knees like they are, umpiring, which he likes isn't in the cards anymore and his schedule now is so goofy that it is impossible. Hope you have a good day today.

Well short and sweet, but Jack just steped in the door and I want to talk to him a bit before he goes to bed. Faye

Good morning...happy Tuesday!

I have been up since 5am and out the door at 6am to go get the bloodwork done. It's about 8:45am and I've eaten breakfast, read the newspaper, and most of my household chores are done for the day. Too bad I don't feel comfortable about going out in public; I would go to the mall. Not going outside this house only to walk to the end of the driveway to fetch the mail. I admit I'm vain (sp?) but I really don't want to scare small children! Anyway, if I stay home I don't spend money. So I'll knit. I'll read. I'll try to find a new recipe for dinner tonight--(1) that Wayne will eat and (2) one that I have the ingredients on hand. I'm thinking fish as I have some frozen flounder filets and Wayne likes that.

Donna Faye, on our news last night the newscaster said it would probably take 2-3 weeks for the water to go down?! Is that right?! I feel so sorry for everyone that lives within the flooded areas of the Mississippi. I want to learn intarsia and fair isle and I've tried on my own and it doesn't look very nice so I'm hoping the owner of my local yarn shop will hold a class on how to do one of those. I feel intimidated by it...which I know will go away because I can remember feeling intimidated about learning how to knit a sock and now I can do that so I know eventually I'll be able to knit intarsia and fair isle. Knitting keeps me calm. Since I finished the baby blanket I wanted to just knit something simple and also use the KnitPicks Harmony needles I bought. I'm knitting a dish cloth! A simple dishcloth. And the needles are wonderful!!! I didn't buy the whole set of Harmony needles; I only bought a pair of size 8s. I highly recommend them. Do you have any of those? The points are sharp and the yarn sliiiiiiiides just right! I love your gift idea for the to go coffee cups. I have a pattern for those cozies I found somewhere on-line. You know what? NOW would be a great time to knit Christmas presents!! About the Maryland Sheep and Wool Festival--yes, you would be able to control yourself at some point because there is so much yarn! And a lot of the yarn prices are very very expensive especially for large projects. By going on Sunday, I did get a marked down price on some DK weight yarn that is so lovely--earth tones varigated throughout with a tweed like look to it--two hanks, 200 yards each, for a total of $20. It will be enough for some mittens and a hat for sure. I also bought 650 yards (fingering weight) of Silk Road from Kipparoo Farms--that is a beautiful pink-rose-purplish gray. That came with "Sheep Tracks Shawl" pattern. That was $42. And last but not least I bought some fingering weight yarn from one of my favorite vendors and that is Miss Babs. I bought two hanks in "Coventry" which is a tonal light creamy green and I plan on using that for a shawl. Total for that yarn is $48. I had to call it a day because well....if you could see how much yarn I already have. Donna, I donate yarn to the American Cancer Federation once a year because there is no way I'm going to be able to knit all that yarn up. BUT...my oldest daughter did say at some point she's going to learn how to kniw...and perhaps she will then "go shopping" at my house. I would love to sit and knit with you!

Maggie, oh yes, I remember how much Will loves baseball. He will be a wonderful volunteer and teacher. It's wonderful how much volunteering he does. He seems so busy! And I know he's a great preacher--remember you sent me a tape of one of his sermons waaaaaay back when! I am so scared that they will find I am diabetic from all the testing they are doing on me right now. Because whenever I tell someone what happened to me the first thing they ask is am I diabetic! And I know if THAT is true then I know it is a Godsend that I find out. Its just that I've gotten my act together in the past year where food and exercise is concerned.

Jean, bless your heart...91 degrees! I wouldn't be ready for that kind of heat either. All I can say is try to stay cool. One side of my house is also cooler. We were so excited when this house was built--all those huge windows over the three sliding glass doors in the living room....but the heat that comes through and yes, we have the glass tinted and I keep the drapes closed on the doors in the summer. This week we're only getting to around 70-74 degrees for the high and that is perfect...in my opinion.

Susan, I'm thinking of you and hoping your friend is feeling better.

Dr. Oz is on tv and I need to go watch him!

Take care everyone--I'll peek back inside later.

Good Morning, Flowers! The sun is shining and NO wind for a nice change of pace around here. The weatherman says 93 for today. I may have to break down and turn on the air. I'm glad the flannel sheets are off the bed!

Since it has turned HOT, I need to dig out Bob's short sleeved shirts for work. He headed up to the cabin today to do some painting. His secretary is gone and the farmers are in the field, so there really isn't anything for him to do but watch the clock go around at the office.

"Gma" -- There was a map of the Mississippi River flooding on the front page of the newspaper today. Memphis was on there and so was Vicksburg, MS, where another of my WW cyber friends live, but she's not close to the flooded area. I did see the news about Arnold and Maria this morning; I've always thought she looked anorexic. I was surprised to learn that Meredith Vieira is leaving the Today Show since she hasn't been there all that long. The coffee cup cozy sounds like a cute, fast gift to make.

Gail -- I'm like you and probably wouldn't go out with the scrapes and bruising so evident. Some people might assume you had been in an accident or beaten up. I can hear the geese honking; they have babies and are very protective parents. The neighbors across the street, on the lake, have a hunting dog that barks at everything; I imagine the geese are close by. What are Harmony knitting needles?

Maggie -- I'll bet Will enjoys working with the baseball kids. If the other guy isn't into the game he will really appreciate Will's help and expertise.

I have a load of towels to fold and another load ready for the dryer so need to keep moving. Hope you all have a terrific Tuesday and enjoy!

Jean -- from Iowa!

Good morning, ladies! It's 65 degrees right now.

Yesterday was applique bee at Bella and then I went to Glory's. She's a little better but not much. Today is work, the Y, quilt guild and Glory.

Wouldn't it be wonderful if we all had Skyp so we could see each other and talk - and knit together!

Faye, I see the MS River crested 1 foot lower than the big flood back in '37. What a mess that will be. It's funny because I got my annual flood insurance premium yesterday. Paid it today. I was thinking the MS was much wider at Memphis. The James River is 5 miles + through here. My scarf is coming along. We quilters also have a quilted version of the cozy for coffee cups. I made up a pattern for one for water bottles years ago. People love them because it keeps your desk or table dry.

Jean, you sure are hot! We're way below normal temperatures. My laundry room is on the second floor and I absolutely love it. No more toting clothes downstairs and up, just a few things from downstairs that I can carry in one hand. People who don't want to pay for insurance shouldn't expect handouts when disaster strikes. Responsible ownership means protecting your holdings. The people here are carrying on because FEMA isn't going to pay for those without insurance to rebuild and repair.

Gail, I have a sunroom. that is all windows on 3 sides and then 3 skylights in the roof. Sounded like a good thing at the time. It was so hot. I had all the windows and skylights replaced with thermal panes that have an R factor for the tropics. It's now a nice and cool room year round. We have several farms in Gloucester that have alpacas and llamas and sell wool rovings for spinning and finished yarn. It is so soft and beautiful and so, so expensive! 2 years ago I went to Mathews Market Days with 2 of my friends and we were walking along and suddenly Shelly wasn't there. We started retracing where we had walked and found her laying on the ground with an EMT over her. Low blood sugar made her faint. Now we make sure she eats before we go somewhere and regularly if we are out all day. I don't think I'd leave the house bruised either.

Maggie, Will is such a keeper. If you don't mind telling me, what happened to your leg? It's okay if you don't want to talk about it. We don't have basements here because of the high water level.

I fell in love with a McKenna Ryan (designer) quilt that is going to be a block of the month (each month we get another block) quilt at Bella. I've attached a picture below. Perfect for this area. I just love the colors.

Have a great day!

Talking Titilating Tuesday

GOOD AFTERNOON MAGNOLIAS

It is 76 degrees and fixin’ to be 92 by 5 pm this day. Will went to Wal*Mart to get Beanie a wading pool. They were sold out. Yesterday they had three huge stacks of them. The new washer and dryer are being delivered today as I type and Will asked me if I wanted to take a quick look at them before they got taken downstairs. I laughed. He has decided to not get involved with that coach after all. The man wants his own son to be the pitcher and that kid can’t pitch. The kid that can is in the field. He has his favorites on bases where they don’t need to be etc. Nope, It won’t work out for he doesn’t want to learn just wants help in controlling the kids and do it his way. He is going to have a rude awaking one day when he doesn’t even know the rules and is playing another team. I don’t have a clue what I am going to make for dinner but will find something suitable to my program in the freezer for sure. I am getting mighty low on fresh fruit and need to make up a shopping list.

DONNA FAYE Water, water everywhere. The mighty Mississippi has its own mind for sure. All this talk about knitting makes me want to get my hands in it. I do think this coming winter would be a good time for me to make myself an ecru throw of an Arian pattern.

JEAN I imagine you will be having trips to the cabin soon. Nice that Bob can get there and do some painting. Thanks for the heads up on that smoothie recipe. It will be easy to cut down from 4 servings to two.

GAIL You will be purple then green & yellow before you get pink again. I think I would go out and about and let folks think what they will. But if you feel better staying in then do so for if you don’t have anything out there you need ~ why go. I do hope you aren’t diabetic. That’s a whole new thing that takes getting used to.

SUSAN OK the story about my leg. About 10 years ago while living in TN I started a walking program and worked up to 2 miles a day. One morning I awoke with excruciating pain in my left leg that would not let up no matter what I tried. I was taken to emergency and when we got there and were entering the parking space the pain left and my left foot no longer could be lifted up. They put me throigh all the tests they could think of. I suffered a slipped disk in my back which left me with some nerve damage in that leg. I can push my foot down but not lift it up. I was diagnosed with a slipped lumbar disk that caused me to have “drop foot.” I wear a brace that keeps my foot up so I can walk. So I do best when I walk on even terrain. I do stairs one at a time. The therapist told me I could do things that flowed but not that do stop ~ start. I can do up stuff but not down stuff. So Will was given the choice of hiring a cleaning person or do it himself. That is why he does the mopping and vacuuming. I pretty much know what I can and can’t do now. I am so thankful when that foot dropped the pain stopped. Some folks that have this still have the pain. And those with diabetes can’t wear the brace.

I am sure glad those young men who are doing the delivery like dogs for ours are very friendly and think they came to play with them. Well Magnolias I am off to see what mischif I can get into this day. Everyone have a lovely day.

Susan -- I do hope Glory gets to feeling better soon! You are such a good friend to check on her and help with whatever she might need. The Weather Bug says it is 95 degrees here while my thermometer says it is 103! I'm sure it's not that hot because it never agrees with what the tv says. I did break down and turn the air on because I've been sorting clothes upstairs and it's much warmer up here. FEMA provided mobile homes (if one could call them that as they were pretty ratty looking) for the Iowa flood victims. Some people are still living in them which is sad but they have no insurance, no money and no where else to go. The quilt is beautiful! I would love to see it in person.

Maggie -- That's too bad about Will and the baseball program. The coach will have to learn the hard way. Unfortunately, playing favorites is the way it goes sometimes. It's the kid who warms the bench who could be having fun just playing the game. I had to at Will buying Beanie a wading pool! The little yappy, but cute, neighbor's dog has disappeared. The mom was out looking for her Sunday night. They let her run the neighborhood and I told her way last winter something would happen to her because she was running in and out of driveways with the snow piled high and she is white. I told her to check with the cat hater because the live trap is set again. I just hope she isn't a splat up on the highway.

Good morning. Still purple. Looks black-purple on my eye lid. I don't like this. And I'll be the first to admit I'm a tad nervous as to why I fainted because...

Maggie, that is the FIRST thing people ask me, "are you diabetic?" And I've thought of that and I'm sure the tests that are being run on me will find that out if I am. I hear what you are saying--let people think what they want for surely they will do that anyway and that old saying "what other people are saying (thinking) about me is none of my business" has a whole lot of truth in that. And yeah...I know trying not to go out in public is a clear case of vanity on my part. I'll get over this and I know I'll be laughing about this in the near future. Actually, I laugh and joke about it now but that's in the privacy of my own home! I do go out...when I have to: doctor's office and LabCorp. And I do plan on going to the grocery store on Friday morning EARLY when there are not as many people out and I'll make like a celebrity and wear my sunglasses inside the store. Anyway... Well for goodness sakes...I don't blame Will for stepping away from helping out. I just see nothing but frustration and annoyance dealing with that man that wanted help. Those kids need to learn the sport and it's clear they are not going to learn it! And as for controlling those kids, Will is not a babysitter. Furthermore, playing baseball is an activity those kids would want to play. How about learning discipline from playing the sport. Doesn't say much about the man that is running that team...into the ground before they even get started. Knitting a blanket is a winter-type thing and that sounds beautiful to knit!

Jean, Harmony needles are sold by KnitPicks. They are not only beautiful because of all the colors running through the needle but they are so smooth the yarn just glides off (but under control) wonderfully. They are not expensive. Go to www.knitpicks.com and you can see them there. Do you knit also?

Susan, I agree with you--Virginia has a lot of sheep and alpaca farms where they spin their own yarn. I've thought how cool that would be to make a road trip throughout Virginia going to all those farms! Of course, it would probably bankrupt me because that yarn is expensive but the colorways! I know you understand what I mean because you're a quilter and I imagine you get light-headed just looking at beautiful material and patterns! Hey! Maybe THAT is what caused me to faint!!?! I just got light-headed being around so much yarn!!! Yep! THAT's my story and I'm stickin' to it!

Donna Faye, you may be typing while I'm typing. If you are...I'll catch ya' later. Just stay dry. I hear the Mississippi has crested and now it will start receding. Just keep on knittin'! Are you a member of ravelry.com?

Not a lot of mischief I can get into being inside this house. The worst thing I think can happen is I could lose a stitch while knitting....and I really hate it when that happens!
