Default SBD Daily Chat: Tues. April 19

Good Morning

I was really careful to make sure I had the right day of the week. I really depend on you all to keep me organized.

I went to bed early; still coughing and having no desire to sit with the crunchmaster and watch "I Shouldn't Be Alive". The pool is closed today and tomorrow for post Spring break cleaning so my schedule is pretty flexible today. I'm going to clean out the refrig and do some pre-holiday baking....and maybe try my first batch of Kale Chips. I have 50# of beans in the car...I've been buying in bulk when I can. It was easier ordering them than figuring out where to put them. It's rainy here this morning. I wish I had some seeds in...perhaps I'll put that on today's list.

What is up in your world today?? Sit and chat before heading out.

Have a great OP day everyone!

Hi everyone:

Good morning. Did good yesterday re: my goals. I've got to break this cycle of up and down, all over the scale between 162 and 159. My goal was to be 155 at the end of April; I doubt that is going to happen. I did start exercising more this month, so I could be retaining water from that. We'll see. I'm just going to keep on keeping on and something's gotta work! Second day of spring break, and enforced 45 minute walk after dropping off son, which is fine. Yesterday I also did my mini tramp and lifted weights; today, since I have no lunch hour as I'm leaving early it will only be the walk probably.

Hope everyone has a great day...not much else going on here.

Good morning I am currently engaged in the battle of the hot flashes vs. the coffee. I refuse to give up the coffee. Then there's the insomnia.
Where was I? - oh yeah, morning. So it's cold and drippy here again. I'm beginning to think we are going to move from cold non-spring into hot summer without any real spring at all.

Debbie - Yuck, now the coughing crud. Hope that moves on quickly. Let me know how the kale chips turnout. I've been wanting to make my own.
I have the same problem with buying in bulk. I usually stock up when things are on sale and figure it out when I get home

So more calling today without any work meetings. I do have PT in the morning and an appointment with my new primary care doc this afternoon. I hope I like her. I'm super picky about doctors and loved my old one. At least we can get moving on this nodule thing so I don't have to waste any energy thinking about it. I picked her because she has a very interesting bio and lists one of her interests as nutrition and healthy lifestyle. It would be nice to have a partner in that.

Most of the day will be making phone calls but at least I'll be at home.

Hope your day is dry and breezy

ETA - good morning Mathilda! I'm fighting the same battle with consistency with about a 5 lb spread. Here's to more good days!

Matilda, I'm really hopeful that your new plan will shake things up. I find that general idea has been helping me drop some numbers. I haven't gone so far as purposely planning the low days but I seem to have one at least once a week and when I notice I don't try to jack it up to my normal intake. Yesterday was one...I had 700 +/- , was not hungry and just went to bed. Today I'll make sure to fully plan my day out.

Cyndi, I can't believe you haven't made the kale chips. I bought some the other day that were so delish and found there are mock recipes all over the net. Sorry about the body battle you've got going on. I did get 6-1/2 hrs last night. Could be better, could be worse. Not giving up coffee here, either. Best wishes as you meet with the new Dr.

Debbie, so sorry you are still feeling cruddy but I do admire you just keeping on and not giving in to the crud. Maybe pamper yourself a little bit today.

Cyndi, I hope your first meeting with your new PCP goes well. I am very lucky with my doctor and we've got a good partnership. By the way, rest assured that the hot flashes do go away.

Matilda, keep on trucking. I had major slippage this weekend (note there is no signature) but, like you, I refuse to give up. I just threw out a half box of Girl Guide cookies.

** Sigh ** Yesterday was another cold and windy day. I swear it didn't get much above freezing. I seem to be constantly cold although the house temperature is at 21ºC. I know I've lost a bit of my personal insulation but this is silly. I refuse to turn into an old lady who is constantly cold! Next bloodwork time, I'll get my iron levels checked.

It may not be very springlike out there but today is the day for spring check-up for my furries. They also get bloodwork done which will be a bit tricky with wee Jazz. He really needs a furcut and I hope Leslie can find a vein in all the fur. It must be nearly four inches long and he looks the same size as Disney. (They weight 12 and 24 pounds last time I checked.)

After that it's off to pack the Good Food Boxes for distribution. I'm hoping for something springlike in the veggie deliveries - baby carrots and celery are getting old but we take what the wholesaler sends us. We still have not made any progress in convincing people that Romaine is better nutrition than iceberg lettuce. They still pass it off to Bob's Diner in exchange for a donut!

Time to crank up the day. The sunrise looks relatively clear and I'm hoping it warms up enough to do some outside work. I need to clear off and clean my front porch to get it ready for painting when it dries up and warms up. Please tell me that it will!

Happy Tuesday!

In my dream last night I was back in college and could not find anything OP to eat in the cafeteria!

Anyhoo, the big news is that my son is officially going to USC next year So I will have one on each coast! Lots of stuff do do now to get him enrolled and at orientation, etc.

Here's the story behind my exercise with my mom: for my 40th bday she offered me personal training sessions. I said I'd love that but only if she did it with me. That was almost 8 years ago and she is still treating me We used to go once a week but after my surgery she graciously added a second day to help me get back in shape and because she was no longer loving her classes at her gym. It's been a great luxury and lots of fun.

Debbie - I keep meaning to try kale chips. Please report back.

Matilda - How's the food cycling going?

Cyndi - Our Spring seems to be missing too. Hope you like the new doc.

Ruth - I threw out food this week too. Leftover protein bars and cereal from my trip. Should have tossed them at the airport!

Have a great day everyone.

Ruth! I do hope your weather improves very soon! Thanks for the pampering suggestion. I do try, a bit. Unfortunately, my 3 needy critters always have something pressing...Kirk is being very helpful, though.

Karen, on the dreams...go figure. Congrats! to DS on his college choice. Whew! Thx, for the PT explain....I used to always know it was Friday if you were working out w/Mom but now I'm just confused....

Happy Tuesday!

It's going to be another cold and rainy day here today. I thought it was Spring. At least I have some fun plans for the day. I'm picking up Amber on my way to the farm, and we're going to spend the day at The Adventure Aquarium in Camden. I think Susie is going to come along, too, which will be great company for me.

I've tried those kale chips but wasn't impressed. I just can't make myself like kale, no matter how I prepare it. Let us know how your recipe turned out, Debbie, and I hope your cough gets better.

Matilda, keep on keeping on. We've all been there.

Cyndi, good luck with your new doctor, and enjoy your day of working from home.

Ruth, I hope the doggie check-ups go well and they both behave accordingly. I hope it warms up and you have a pleasant day.

Well, I'd better go blow-dry my hair and gear up my day. Have a good one, Chickies.

Linda, have fun at the aquarium! I may not get to the chips today but I'll definitely let ya'll know. Never made them cause I didn't think I'd like them. The ones I bought were great! (Now if I can duplicate!)

Good morning!
It's vacation week and I'm trying to make the most of every minute. I'm heading out the door for an appointment in a few minutes but wanted to squeeze in a quick hello, first.

Happy Birthday Tammy!

Happy Birthday Twynn!

My 2nd day of South Beach! Working hard.
Today has been bad so far. I live in the Ohio Valley the allergen capital of the world and when I wake up in the morning my head lets me know it! THEN my 12-15 minute trip to work took 47 mins!!!

My legs and feet are tight today... and I didn't do anything! My boyfriend's roommate finally moved out this past weekend, so I cleaned and moved and rearranged for 4 hours on Sunday evening. Last night I spent 5 hours cooking!! BUT now I have breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks through Friday! No reason to not eat right at work and school.

I am hoping to find a cheap belly dancing or zumba class that I can join up in. It sounds like I would like that a lot more than sitting on a treadmill and I HAVE to get active!

Have a great day all!

Morning everyone

Today I am taking my two fur babies to get baths and nails cut. Ds is home sick with tummy pain. We go tonight for a CT. This is just a follow up CT. I am also going to my first meeting with the parents of children with crohns disease group. Hopefully I will some great info or at least make friends with people who are going or have been through what me and son are going through.

Have any of you read the clean diet book. Nit was interesting and a lot of the same principles as Sb. I have had the book for a while but just read it. I like how she says to pack a cooler for the day with all of your food. That way your always prepared. I always have op snacks but I don't pack lunch stuff if I am out shopping and then have a hard time finding the right food.

Have a great day

Tammie

Hey all -
I am way behind here this week - spring break + mom here = LOTS of great things going on. I have taken this week as a pretty off plan week with Mom here, DD1's b'day, AND Easter - but so far doing ok. I have planned on hopefully a net loss of 4 pounds over the month, so next week will likely be a full phase 1 week to correct THIS week . . . but there you go.

Linda - almost ended up at the Aquarium with you! Instead, the kids, mom and I went out to lunch and went to The Aquarium Superstore - poor substitute in my opinion, but it did allow for a little room painting this afternoon. DD1 seems to be hovering between ice blue and soft green for her room . . .

Here's to all of the east coast getting a little sun sometime this week - maybe?

Be well!
