Default Kind of a gross, weird question

Weird question, possibly TMI.

I've cut out a lot of fat and some carbs and fats and I'm eating more veggies...great but I'm constantly running to the bathroom. My stool isn't solid and sometimes I have to go not even 10 minutes after leaving the bathroom. I'm guessing it's the fiber but here's my weird question (I don't know if my mind's just messed up lol). Am I pooing too much? It's hurting my bum but I kind of like it for the fact that I've been losing weight and it feels like it's going down the toilet lol. I just don't want to be doing something that's either physically or mentally unhealthy.

Sorry if this sounds really stupid >_<

How long ago did you change your diet? Your bathroom issues are normal when your first start eating a lot of fiber, but this should only last a few days. If you aren't already, I recommend you take a daily probiotic to help balance your digestive system.

It hasn't really been all that long so my body's probably just readjusting. I just wonder if after it evens out if I should take in extra fiber (I've got the kind that's a flavorless powder). My sister-in-law stays really skinny by taking diuretics and lots of fiber but I question how healthy that is.

Doesn't sound stupid! Now here's my TMI response to your TMI question

My habits changed when I started my diet. I go more frequently now, like 5-6 times a week instead of 2-3, and it's gotten a little softer, but not like what you're talking about. I also watch carbs and calories, a drastic cut from before, and usually get 35-50g of fat per day. From what I read, I think less fat can actually slow you down, so I'm not sure why you would be going so often. Are you thinking about going to the doctor? Having to go again right away seems like it might not be right if it's happening often.

I think 3FC's a safe place for TMI

I might bring it up to the doctor when I get my lab results for TSH. (still waiting to hear if I have a thyroid issue) Maybe my body's just weird lol

if it doesn't go away after 2-3 days, see a dr. asap! in the meantime, double up on the water because you are losing a lot of fluid that would normally be reabsorbed by your colon. It wouldn't hurt to have a no calorie gatorade/day, for electrolytes. hope your system rights itself soon!

I do have a tendency to get dehydrated (mainly because I actually forget to drink). I'll see if my roomie can pick one up on his way home.

I love TMIs!!!

especially about POO ! LOL

WHen I ate a lot of crap, I still ate a lot of veg/fruit, so I went a LOT, like 3 times a day, never had any problems.

Now I eat less crap, but still lots of veg & Fruit, so I STILL go a LOT, 3 times a day sometimes! again, no problems.

However, there was a period in between the 2 lives of great uncertainty LOL and it was not days, but months! of what you're describing -- almost like diarrhea, but months of it. Doc said it was normal, my body had been abused by food pretty badly for 20 years and was freaking out. After about 8-10 weeks, things.. **ahem*** firmed up wow, i love 3FC!

Yay! I feel more normal lol thank you. It's good to know that if it does go on it can be normal. I really have put my body through a lot of abuse all my life. Working on fixing things though

I noticed that when a time I was eating daily salads that I really started having to go to the bathroom often! And it was "different" too!

I noticed that I can't eat large quantities of bell pepper for this reason. Even though I love that veggie so much

The one time I was having frequent but painful trips - I was on some post dental surgery medications; It may have been the antibiotics (afetra few days, I had a skin reaction), it may have been my attempt to eat ground flax seed shredding my guts (because that's what my behind felt like), or some additional problem or allergy I don't know about yet.

I'm back on the daily salad, still go no.2 often but have a much better time of it. I'm also eating a LOT more meat and healthy fats then I used too.

Are you drinking extra water to absorb the extra fiber? That's important. Generally it's recommended that you increase your fiber intake gradually. Your body will get used to it, though- it's just not the most comfortable and fun thing to deal with! Feel better!

Oh wow..I'm stupid lol I totally didn't think about increasing water intake along with the extra fiber. I've always had such a hard time remembering to drink water. Thank you!

If you title your thread with "TMI," "Gross" or "Embarrassing Bodily fluids," I am guaranteed to read it! LOL. I love 3FC.

The first time I made a kale smoothie I did it with like.... 3 cups of kale? And it was explosive! Literally.

Absolutely, you're body needs time to adjust. But keep up the water intake.

I find myself staying away from fast food salads because I am incredibly sensitive to whatever additives, preservatives or sometimes just plain ill-handling of the food. Same result.

Who knew learning could be educational AND funny! Love the TMI talk...it helps to GET REAL about what goes on with these eating changes.

Thanks for the info and the laughs!

Hi! What you are experiencing is totally normal, so it should clear up soon. Is your sister in law taking the diuretics to often? This can be very dangerous if she is. But if she is using them normally or if her doctor prescribed them that is fine, usually there is just excess urination. I hope that helps!
