No Day 12 report. It's hard to get around at the moment with the flock of black puppies at my ankles. Sigh.
So I've sat down and done myself a Timetable for every hour of this week, it's one of the control exercises that I find helpful.
I've written to a clergy charity, to ask for financial assistance - boy, life is tight at the moment. (Dogs; Wages; Expenses of Office)
I've decided that I need to review the diet - yes, Again  I was spending so long trying to make food that I really didn't want to eat fancy schmancy, it really wasn't worth it.
On again. Off to the scales in a minute, I don't expect to have gained any but let's put a wedge in here to make sure I don't.
I'm so sorry to hear you are having financial difficulties. You did the right thing asking for help. That's why its there.
I have to agree with you - your menu sounded unappealing to me. To tell you the truth, it seemed like a form of punishment for having struggled for a while. I'm glad you can see that a change is needed.
All is not lost from that experience - it got you back to awareness of your food choices.
Sending you bright sunshine to ship those black pups to the pet store for good!
Today has been a better day, and I stuck to the calorie budget DietPower proposed. It's too high a budget really but it will gradually drop over the next few days, and at least I stuck to it.
The Vorderman programme - I've done before and loved it! but obviously, it's not right for me this time. One good thing - I found a magnificent quinoa recipe in it which I'm going to use in a couple of months' time when some veggie friends come for lunch.
The charity - well, it says it probably can't help me, as my struggles are caused by vet bills and by my parish not being able to afford to pay my full expenses of office. However, they are nice guys, and are going to send me a form and have me send them my statements etc, and they'll see if there is some category that will fit. Nice of them.
Shoo little puppies!! I hope it's not inappropriate for me to say so, but I'll be praying for you Rosinante. Depression is a tough beast to fight, I've been there myself.
I thought about your financial issues yesterday and had an idea that is used quite often here in the US.
If you are responsible for some utilities (gas, electric, water, phone, etc.), maybe you could call them up and explain you are short this month due to short term extra high medical costs (they don't have to know it is the dog's!) and negociate for a lower payment (and avoid extra charges for not paying full amount) for a few months. Most are happy to get a payment of something rather than nothing. And most don't want negative public relations problems.
Thanks, DixC, I appreciate you thinking about me.
Unfortunately, in the UK we don't have medical costs as such, and entering into an agreement with creditors/suppliers would
a) go on my credit reference file
b) have implications for my job, which requires me to be a charity trustee
Not long to payday, I just need to be careful for about 6 months.....
