Default new mom getting on track!

Hey all!
I have a five week old and am nursing. I am supplementing as well.. but have cut it down to only 1-2 bottles a day. Because of my c-section and whatnot.. my milk supply wasn't that great at first and my milk didn't come in for over a week after he was born.

I am getting ready to get back on track with weightloss today! and am glad we have this special group for breastfeeding mommies.. cause weightloss and breastfeeding is new to me. I nee dto keep that milk flowing!

Over the past 2 years i gained back 72 pounds plus that i lost... and since the baby.. i need to change that way I lost weight in the past.

Any tips?

anyway.. I just wanted to say hi since Im new.. I loos forward to chatting with you all!!

Welcome and congratulations on your new little one! Did you have a boy or a girl?

I have a 5 month old that I'm breastfeeding (I also have a 2 year old, but I'm not nursing him ). I have great success calorie counting. I was on Weight Watchers for the first few months but their new plan just didn't cut it for me so I switched to calorie counting.

Definitely make your top priority maintaining your milk supply, especially this early in. That said, I started "dieting" (for lack of a better word) when my youngest was 4 weeks old. It can be done, you just have to be hyper-aware of what your calorie level is at and your activity level as well. I'm assuming since you had a c-section that you aren't cleared for exercise yet? Make sure you take it really easy at first (as I'm sure you know), you certainly don't want to cause any issues with your incision.

Again, welcome to the nursing and pregnancy forum, I'm glad to see you here! There's a weekly weigh in for breastfeeding moms if you'd like to join us on there. This board isn't the most active among the 3FC lineup, but it's a really great group of women.

Thanks for the suggestions and everything Gale! so good to meet you.
Yeah, the doctor said i could walk and all that stuff.. but no marathons for a little while yet! lol
I have a boy, hayden, and i'm pretty lucky... he's such a good baby!

I will definitly be keeping track of what im eating and doing.. I was never much of a calorie counter.. but it seems like it's the way to go in this situation.. because i definitely dont want to risk my already not quite up to par milk supply!

side note: cute avatar picture! your baby is adorable! What cute little lips! hehe

Welcome and congrats. I have a 3 week old and am working on healthy eating habits for now. He's new enough and I already have to pump for school, so I don't want to risk my milk supply by cutting my calories much yet. I've decided to give it until six weeks and then cut in small steps until I get my weight loss where I want it. Best thing I can recommend for now is LOTS of water, I've already lost over 25 pounds, so it helps.
