I just saw this on Dr. Oz Show today and was wondering about it too. On Dr. Oz he only had a few of the things about it, but one was to cool your body because he says when you are cold you burn more calories? The dude who wrote the book takes an ice bath every day!!! Another thing was that you should pig out once a week???!!! Also something about doing squats right before you eat something bad or right after is supposed to open up your muscles to eat up the calories from the food? Seems weird to me, but the dude who wrote the book says he tested it all on himself. I dunno. But that was on Dr. Oz today. I looked further and found the guys site, http://www.fourhourbody.com/ his name is Tim Ferriss . Also found reviews of his book on Amazon and the very 1st review (scroll down) gives a pretty detailed review on what is in his book. So there is some more info.

did anybody watch Dr.Oz yesterday? i thought that 4 hour body was really neat. i don't think i could take an ice bath every day but i liked the protien idea. has anybdy heard about this 4 hour body ideas?
I also saw the show, he had some interesting ideas. I like the cheat day Idea,
but looked up his plan and the rules that he has are pretty strict.
Like no fruit, eat the same meals every day dont eat white carbs dont drink your calories (which I agree with.) I dont know about the ice therapy though,
That would be tough.
I thought is was an interesting concept. I can't eat 30 minutes after I wake up because I take synthroid for my thyroid and I can't eat anything for at least one hour.
I wonder if doing just a portion of these ideas would be effective? Just curious.
I've been doing a sort of cheat day, but I didn't like the way it was presented on the show. It was all sweets and pizza and looked like a big old out right binge to me. My heavier calorie days are filled with more healthy foods, increasing my calories with almonds, soy milk, bananas, an extra portion of oats and the like. It is not a free for all. Maybe I'll have ice cream or something, but nothing like what he presented. And what I am doing works!
I thought the muscle thing was interesting, doing squats after a high calorie meal. I thought drinking grapefruit juice prior to a high calorie meal was an interesting idea too.
yea i really like what i'm doing to. i feel like im getting healthier and my workout is tough lol but i've thinking about uping my protien intake and now i think i will! i just though that some of his idea's were interesting. like the cold idea i can tell it burns more calories becuase my treadmill is outside on the porch so sometimes i walk on it in 35 degree weather so i know im burning calories like a mad woman! but i could never take a cold shower unless my hot water heater was broke lol i like my showers to be 102 degrees lol
I just saw an old friend who is doing the lemon juice trick. He says that alone is why he lost about 30 lbs. in the last couple of months. He just adds lemon juice to his water and drinks it. That's one tip I'm going to try!
I signed up, just to see.
It gives me 1005 calorie allowance for each day. I have been eating around 1400 calories, and I have lost almost 8 pounds since 1/1... I have not felt starving. I feel if I cut 400 calories, I would be hungry all the time
Seems a bit gimicky to me but also we are all experiments of 1 just as this guy is so what works for him (being a guy especially) may not work for a women, especially someone who has been overweight their entire life such as myself.
An ice bath though? wow, no way, not unless I lived in Florida.
Quackery...with the exception of the Cheat day/meal! Dr. Oz IMHO is seriously a media junkie who teaches me virtually nothing other than how to get ratings!
I've personally tested the cheat meal where I have one meal of whatever I want (albeit pizza, take out, etc.) once per week/biweekly. It has kept me from having any stalls even though I'm close to goal.
Yea, I watched that Dr Oz show too. I like how he's not endorsing but just taking little bits from it and showing if it's plausible or not. Very interesting ideas...
I actually like watching his shows because even though he tells you things I already should know (as much as I have all been on the weight merry go round, I should haha) but he explains the WHY of it. That helps me a lot!
The explanation of how our muscles/fat react to cold gives me a little more motivation to go that extra mile while walking my dog in this cold a$$ weather
I tried the 4 hour body for 2 weeks. I lost about 5 pounds the first week and then gained it all back on my cheat day. The next week I lost the 5 pounds only to regain it back after my cheat day. I have come to the conclusion that cheat days don't work for me. I was also taking all of the supplements he suggested, in my opinion a total waste of money. The only thing that I will continue with is the kettlebell swings (amazing) and the HITT training. It may work but not for me.
