Default I'm expecting blood test results today...

I just called for them, the lady handling me for the study said that the doc who has them is in a meeting. She will call me when he gets out of it.

NERVOUS!

ha. They did sugar, but I don't think an a1c, just regular sugar readings, and cholesterol and hormones and all sorts of stuff. (It's for a bipolar study I'm trying to participate in that focus' on diet and exercise instead of drugs.)

I'll post the results here when I get them I guess! Wooo!

I got my results! They aren't too bad! I wish they were SLIGHTLY better...but...even though I was veggie for over a year, I was just recently vegan, so hopefully when they redo the test results in 6 months some values will be better.

These are fasting results:

My sugar was 111, a little high, it needs to be between 70-99

BUT: My A1c was only 5.5! Which is really good! (three month reading of sugar)

My cholesterol was slightly high at 209, needs to be below 200, and my HDL (good cholesterol) was a little low at 44. Needs to be 59+. She said exercise would help. With the fibro it's difficult. But I'm trying!

Triglycerides were good at 110.

My two of my thyroid readings were good, one was slightly high, the T4, at 12.6. Should be between 5-12. She said it's not significant enough to warrant any concern though. I do worry about thyroid as it just is what it is. I can't do anything to change that reading with diet or exercise. Does anyone know of any supplements that might help? My mom has hashimodos, so I do worry about my thyroid.

Those are my first readings in over a year!

Overall, she said I'm doing fine, and with the diet and exercise I should do even better at the 6 month reading.

Results seem pretty good to me - it'll be interesting to see how much they've changed at the 6 month mark!!

Not too shabby, Lottie! Keep up the great work.

Hey, if you think about it, why not search this thread when you go back in 6 months and update it for us. It'll be really interesting to see!

Whats an A1c? I did my annual physical and got the results last week. I was hoping for better results with the weight loss and low carb, no sugar diet. Glucose was 106. It was a 100 last year on the "eat anything you want diet".
I thought it would go down. Chloresterol tests were all normal. I was low on Potassium, Magnesium and vitamin D despite taking both D and Prescription Potassium pills. Well I don't exercise as much as I could/should. I'll have to work on that and hope that and continued weight loss will make a differance.
