Hi everyone. Today I'm beginning a quest to lose more than 100 pounds. I made the decision last week and I was delighted to find this website and a forum for people like myself.

My lowest adult weight was 105 pounds in 1981 but I have gained more than 100 pounds since due to a series of events... automobile accident, surgery, unexpected pregnancy all occurring in the mid-1990s.

If you're interested, my story and pictures are on my website I just created to chart my progress.

I weigh 225 pounds and hope to lose 110 in 6-9 months, by increasing my activity level and reducing my caloric intake.

I'm looking forward to getting to know you all better and offering my support. (I'm a pretty good cheerleader)

I agree with you, this is a neat website. I've looked around quite a bit and found all kinds of great information. Yes, 110 pounds in 6-9 months is an ambitious goal, but not unattainble I don't think. And if I don't reach it, I'll just keep going until I do. I don't have a formal plan but my husband is a health nut (runs and lifts weights and still has a 30" waist) and he suggested that I keep it simple: increase my activity and reduce my caloric intake. He set me up on an exercize program of a 1 mile walk or 30 minutes of rowing each day (he has a bowflex). Thank you for the nice welcome.

Pat - Nothing like those surprise babies to wreak havoc on the waistline! I lost all my baby weight from my son and was looking hot (132 and a size 8)....three months later...SURPRISE! ...I was preggo with daughter. I haven't been the same since, but I'm workin' on it!

Thanks Slimdown! I appreciate your compliment. I don't really create websites for a living but I'm a print journalist (I've been a reporter and editor) and I lay out the front page, the jump page and editoral page of the newspaper so creating a website is a breeze.

I LOVE your use of the word manatee. It reminds me of the Veggie Tales videos. Then I hear the song in my head:
