Default Severe pain in left stomach

Hi, just a few minutes ago I was laying in bed and all of a sudden the left side of my stomach started hurting really badly. It's still hurting. This has NEVER happened to me before and it was completely out of nowhere. I'm really worried and can't find a clear answer online. My mom told me that's where my gallbladder is and it can act up when you're dieting, does anyone know what it could be? I'm really worried.

Don't look for the answer online and don't worry - just call a doctor's office or a general "ask-a-nurse" line... They can narrow down the issue when you describe the pain/type of pain/duration/location, etc. Don't delay too long - you'll just add more worry to yourself.

There's not a lot of stuff on your left side. Lower left side could be pancreas, but way more likely just gas.

Lower right side, sharp pain, that gets worse when you press it down and let it go could be appendix.

Gall bladder is upper right quadrant pain, like near the base of your ribcage.

First, I was all "Left stomach.. like... 2?" LOL. I'm alright.

And I would do these things: Look online, call a nurse/doctor. I wouldn't let it go, though. Important things happen in there!!

Okay, so I went to the doctor. This morning I posted this thread when I was in horrible pain and didn't really know where to look, haha. Eventually the pain got so unbearably bad that I went to the emergency room. Nothing is wrong, they tested my blood and everything was fine. I got some pain medicine and was sent on my way. Hopefully it goes away on its own. Thank you guys.

Do they have an idea as to what caused it?

Nope. They suggested it was probably either gas or constipation, but I'm not constipated and I took gas-x before I went to the ER and it didn't give any relief at all. They did urine/blood tests and everything was perfect. My health is great, my liver/kidneys etc are great and I'm not diabetic. The pain seems to have completely passed, but it might still be the pain medication. I guess I'll see how I feel in a few hours. The doctor suggested that I go to an OB/GYN to get checked out.

I'm 99.9% sure I have gall bladder problems. Both of my siblings, and my mom had theirs out at very young ages. Instead, my doctor put me on birth control to help my ovaries (..didn't know I was having trouble with them??) - and said it could have been gas. Gah.

Hope your belly feels better soon!

I just had my gallbladder out a week ago. The gallbladder is NOT on the left hand side, it's situated right under/below the right ribs. I did have a little bit of pain on my left side, but 99% of the pain was on the right. Severe sharp stabbing.

If you do have problems with your gallbladder and yoru having left pain, I'd ask for them to check your pancreas. Gallstones can become lodged and cause damage to the pancreas.

Please have your ovary looked at. Been there, done that. I think five years ago I had a cyst that never was diagnosed, and then I had similar pain 6 months ago that was an ectopic pregnancy.

My mom suggested that it might be my ovary, because the pain was in that area. I should really go get that checked out. Thank you for the warning and suggestion.
