Default Holiday Exercise Cheering Section

Crunch time crunches? Shopping bag bicep curls? Parking lot obstacle course? Cookie sheet squats?

The holiday season is here and it's time to make the commitment to stay healthy during this joyful, hectic, stressful, fun, unpredictable and often unplannable, on the go goodie filled month. We all know the challenges ahead and many of us can remember the result of choices made in other holiday seasons. So while we are all doing the best we can with our food choices how about making a commitment to staying active. The one thing we can all do is find time, even 10 minutes a day, to move. Park a block away, use the stairs instead of the elevator, throw a 10 minute work-out on but move your body. Not only does it burn calories it's great for reducing all that holiday season stress.

Whether your goal is 300 minutes (10 minutes a day with one day off) or 2000 minutes join us in the exercise challenge. New Year's morning when you're writing that list of resolutions you will be glad you did.

*ETA - this thread is for South Beachers. There is another exercise accountability thread in the exercise forum.

And here I was thinking I could slack off some because the November challenge was complete today. Little did I know that you would offer up a new challenge and I'm not one to pass so here I go again. Plus, in my heart, I know that I wouldn't have exercised as much last month if it hadn't been for the challenge.
Even though I know I'm going to be busier and it's going to be harder to find the time, I'm upping my goal.

Goal: 800 - actual 1,020. I'm impressed! I met and exceeded my goal this month!

1 = 40 walking (new month, new start, new goal! And away we go!!
2 = 35
3 = 35
4 = 45
5 = 35
6 = 30
7 = 75 (30 walking and 45 cleaning out ditch along side the dirt road with hoe and shovel) whew!!
8 = 30
9 = 45
10 = 40
11 = 40
12 = 35
13 = 30 (walking the mall non-stop)
14 = 30
15 = 30
16 = 60 (30 walking and 30 raking leaves)
17 = 40
18 = 0 (family day)
19 = 40
20 = 45
21 = 45
22 = 40
23 = 40
24 = 0 zip, zero, nada, none!!!
25 = 0 OMG bad, bad, bad!
26 = 0 Fell off the beach hard!
27 = 40 Finally climbed back up on the beach!
28 = 45
29 = 0 Spent the day getting lab work and running errands
30 = 0 Didn't feel good so took the day off
31 = 45

Bring it!

Thumbs up

I'd love to be a part of this! Rather than track minutes though, I'd like to track sessions - each of my workouts varies in time. I consistently workout 3-4 times per week now and I'd like to increase that a bit, so that's what I'll be working on in December!

Goal: 5 Workouts/Week

Week 1: 2/5 so far!

Week 2: /5

Week 3: /5

Week 4: /5

Week 5: /5

I'm in! For whatever reason, I have just not been able to jump on the exercise wagon yet. Here's hoping this can kick it off! We have a trip mid month, but its to Disneyland, so plenty of walking will be in order. (Have to figure out how I'm going to count the minutes for those few days, probably just a flat hour or two)

My total goal for the month is 1250, but at least 30 per day. Every. Single. Day. (minutes are for cardio exercise only, weights, stretching, etc. won't be included in this total)

ETA- 12/13: Okay so this month's goals were totally unrealistic based on the amount of obligations I ended up with. Unfortunately, working out before work isn't an option either, so I'm ammending my monthly goal to 1000 total, with no dialy requirement. Still a push to make it, but I think this is more realistic.

I'm new around here, but I'm going to jump in. I haven't tracked exercise like this before, so I'm not sure exactly where I will end up. But I am going to be ambitious and say 900 minutes for the month. Not sure how that road trip will work out at the end of the month, but if I am creative with what I count as "exercise"(chasing after a toddler) it should be possible to meet my goal.

Goal: 900 minutes
Minutes so far: 311
Minutes I should have: ~348

1 - 25 mins balance ball/hand weights
2 - 0 Not off to a great start
3 - 25 mins of WII fit; 22 minute Jillian Michaels video
4 - 0

5 - 0
6 - 0 sigh...
7 - 31 mins wii fit; 18 min. kickboxing video; 10 min. walk
8 - 25 min run
