Default Feel like something is missing in life

Ok so maybe it's because I am not in the best of moods today but do you ever look at your life and feel like something is missing? I don't know why seeing that I have it pretty good but still have the piece that doesn't seem complete.

I have never graduated college and even without that, I have always managed to have pretty great jobs. I am 30 now, married with a one year old and am lucky to be able to work three days a week doing marketing for an IT company 15 mins from the house. But I still think that going back to school to get my degree would be a great option.

The problem is I don't want to start paying for classes and then a year or two goes by and I still don't finish and then feel like I just wasted my time and money.

Not sure what I would go back to school for since I have been in sales/marketing/finance for the past 12+ years, but nursing or even becoming a personal trainer sounds great since I would be helping others while doing it. Every job has its ups and downs but I really just feel like I need a change.

Trying to change myself by eating healthy and losing more weight but I still feel like I need to do more. Anyone else feel like this and what have you done?

Maybe you can consider a degree in what you already do...so since you experience you might be able to get better top positions after getting a degree...

I feel what you're saying tho....I've been going for a RN on and off since I was 19 now I'm 23 and I'm changing my major cuz I wasted so much time and money going for something that I knew I didnt really want in the first place.

i think that education is never a bad thing. If you feel like that will make your life more full then DO IT!!!! Come be a nurse with meeeee!
But even if it doesnt result in a new career, you will be that much better and will view the world in that much deeper of a way with every increase in knowledge that you gain.

You know I will graduate with a bachelor's in speech pathology soon (you need to get a master's to be a speech pathologist) but I am delaying graduate school because I'm not sure I love it. I'm thinking of going into special education or public health instead. Losing weight has made me want to make my whole life better, and to do things I'm truly passionate about.

Have you thought about taking classes at a community college purely because they're fun/interesting? Maybe a language class (which would have applications for future job prospects) or something related to psychology/sociology (again, applicable to your current job). Or even art/music classes if those interest you. Something to get you back in the "swing" of schoolwork, without feeling too much like work.

I sometimes feel that my life is missing something. I already have the kids, a job I like, a decent place to live that I am constantly working on making nicer. My thing missing isn't education it is a relationship. I have been alone for going on 5 years, and it is starting to freak me out! I worry I am always going to be alone.

I say go back to school and do what will make you happy! Good luck!

You might want to look into those schools for adults like University of Phoenix, the classes are accelerated, you take one course at a time, etc. I agree if you like what you are doing just get a degree in that and then you could probably make more money or get a better position if you are interested in that

i can relate. i'm a stay at home mama-i know what i do IS work and i love it. i have a 6 month old am very happily married. although-there are some fields i am interested in to learn more/potentially make a career out of one day. it may sound odd...but my goal right now is to lose this weight and then i have a feeling that whatever i want for my future will come into focus. something about the self esteem/feeling like i accomplished something, ect.

Schooling is always a good thing....and unless you are taking science courses or nursing - they last mostly forever. If you are in a science field - the usual cut off is 7 years before needing to retake it. And community college is the way to go rather than a for profit college like Phoenix. While those colleges are good for some...they are expensive. And sure you can get loans for school - but why if you can pay less at a community college? The trick there is that you can only transfer about 70 credits from a community college to a university. The rest need to be at the university level. Community colleges offer a lot of assistance that others don't AND they have on site traditional classes, on-line and hybrid classes.

All in all...I say go for it! It will also be good for your little one to see you studying and how important you see education.

Maybe you could go back to school and
do something you really like?

I've had this dilemma where I want
to do so many things. So I just said,
what the heck? Why not become tons
of things. Luckily, the things that I
want to do don't require many years
of schooling. After HS I will go to college
to become a policewoman, then maybe
later on I will be a pianist, teacher, or cake
decorator. Heck, I'll probably just do all of them!

I can never just stick to one thing.
I like to experiment too much and try
new things. Good luck to you.
