After having a CAT scan or of my neck last week and a fine needle biopsy yesterday, it is confirmed that I have a tumor on my perotid salivary gland. The good news is that 80% of these are benign; results will be back next week. Either way, it's coming out on November 11th, and it's fairly invasive surgery, as there are a lot of nerves and vessels in that area; this surgery means an overnight stay and about 2 weeks recoup time. If the biopsy returns a positive result, well, it would be even worse.
When one is healing from something like this, is it advisable to remain on weight loss calorie levels, or up them to closer to maintenance during healing? What types of food are best? Someone must have researched this. :-) I know that recovery is physically demanding, and odds are it will be painful to eat (they are removing a salivary gland) so this may be moot, but... well... ok, I'm afraid. The word 'tumor' is freaking me out. So far I've avoided blowing my calories due to stress eating, and I will keep doing my best. I've had surgery before, but not while dieting. I need a plan.
A virtual hug wouldn't hurt,either.
