Default Does anyone else have trouble eating enough calories during your time of the month?

Im struggling this week to eat at the least 1200 calories it has been usually around 1100 I know it isnt good to go under 1200 calories but when I have the TOM I am not hungry and have cramps. I stay under 1500 calories a day with usually being around 1200 something to 1300 something which I have no problem doing before and after my TOM I acutally ate 1450 before TOM started on Sunday and felt super hungry still but didnt eat anymore. I hate the old TOM what a witch . I also havent been wanting to drink my 80oz of water because Im bloated blah.

i'm sure that i would have the opposite problem. everytime, i'm sick or anything, all i want to do is eat. i don't think it's doing terrible damage just going a little under a couple of days. try to keep your choices healthy. lots of veggies. maybe tea would help?

I never have trouble eating. Ever. EVER. Even if I am nauseous - I can still eat! I don't know if that means I'd survive real well as a cavewoman or I am just a freak of nature.....I'm sure if the world was ending I'd settle down for a last meal.
The only thing that ever takes me off my game is severe anxiety and I don't recommend using that for appetite control.

I am having the TOM from heck right now. I am on Yaz which usually gives me like NO period... this month is annoying cramps. Ok... so I guess annoying cramps isn't that bad.

Anywho - usually about a week b/f TOM is when I get the hungries. I feel like I could just eat and eat and eat. Now that TOM is here... I feel pretty back to normal (appetite wise). But darn, I feel BLOATED. I thought I was going to BUST out of my pants yesterday.

I think TOM screws a lot of women up. I say, if you don't feel like eating - embrace it and relax and try to just eat healthy when you do eat. It's not like you are trying to stick to 1,100 everyday... it is only a few days a month.

There's nothing wrong what so ever with dipping below 1200 calories every now and then, provided of course that the calories you are consuming are highly nutritious ones. Look at it as a rare bonus in the calorie deficit department.

So there's nothing wrong with dipping under 1200 and IMO, everything wrong with eating while not hungry. Your body has more than enough stored energy to keep you going during days such as these. If you're not hungry - don't eat. Please don't be concerned about this.

And 80 oz of water? There is no need to drink that much water if you're not thirsty AND are bloated.

And to answer your original question - no, I have never, ever, ever experienced not being able to get enough calories during any time of the month. My problem was always the opposite one.

I'm the exact opposite. I am absolutely ravenous during TOM. And it's not just that I want to eat, I'm physically starving. I let myself eat more than my normal calories last time and once the water weight was gone I was actually down from pre-TOM weight. I guess my body needs those extra calories.

Yes, I get this! for about a week and half before TOM I have little appetite and I also get exhausted. I usually just force myself to eat regular meals anyway, because I will get light headed sometimes. But I notice after a few bites of something I will feel full and want to stop eating. I figure that can't be enough food so I just push through and eat anyway.

Jeez, talk about the opposite of intuitive eating! No idea what the best thing to do is in this case, or why it happens.

I lose my appetite completely during TOM. Like the OP I feel so crampy, bloated and generally miserable that even drinking enough water is a chore.

I'm not a member of the 100-lb club but I posted any way because I really identified with this.

I have the same issue, but only on the first day. The days before and after, though, more than make up for it, because then I'm constantly hungry.

I have never had trouble eating enough calories at any point in my life ever. I could easily eat 4000 a day and not feel physically uncomfortable.

While I'm blessed and never have cramps or anything aside from one to two days of being moody during TOM, I almost envy your diminished appetite OP!
