Kindle
My bf bought me one finally! It arrived today
It is this one here - http://www.amazon.com/Kindle-Wireles...pf_rd_i=507846
Does anyone else have one of these? I have a couple questions if so
1. Can you add custom screensavers?
2. Is there a way to access numbers via the alt key or something instead of always pushing the sym button?

I'm waiting for ours to come in the mail right now (my wife and I bought them as birthday gifts to eachother). I am super excited about the free, classic literature...I plan to re-read so many good books!

ooh onederchick does the first link work for the nook?
I have the nook I love it- same as the kindle- I was skeptic of an ebook but it made reading so much easier. I'm a huge novel person and sometimes it was a pain to keep the book open I give myself an allowance of 1 book a month but it's only around $5-8 which isn't bad at all IMO.

I believe it should, yes. With that first link you are just downloading them to your puter and transferring

I can't answer your questions Onederchic but... I love my Kindle!! As a book lover, I wasn't sure I could give up the whole reading experience - you know, holding the actual book, the feel of the pages etc etc. But I am a believer now. It's so great to take on trips and for reading in bed.

I can't answer your questions, but you have given me a great idea for a gift for a loved one! How is it for reading in the dark? Is it back-lit so that a person could read in bed with it?

No, it isn't backlit. The reason is that a backlit screen will wear your eyes out WAY faster than regular book, and they wanted to mimic the book reading experience as closely as possible. They do sell covers with built in reading lights or clip-on lights fairly inexpensively.

You can't do custom screensavers with the kindle as is. You have to look up one of the user modifications on the internet. I am not too trusting of those.
I have 2nd gen kindle which has numbers on the keyboard, so can't help with the second one.
I LOVE my kindle!

Onederchic - I noticed that the Amazon accessories were REALLY expensive. I bought a cover and light on Ebay for a total of 20 dollars - way more reasonable, in my opinion. Plus the cover came in pink!

I've got a pink cover too, and a pink Brite Lite to match! I got mine from Amazon but I don't remember how much they cost.
