Cool Silly NSV, but I can't stop thinking on it

I have NSVs almost daily when I realize I am physically doing something that I didn't even realize before that I couldn't do.

For example, when I was able to pull my undies on without losing my balance or having to step into them when they were on the floor, or the day I was pulling socks out of the bottom drawer of my dresser and I realized my heels were touching my rear end instead of my thighs and calves keeping them from touching. Another one was a few months ago when I was clipping my toenails with my foot in front of me, easily, instead of having to crook my leg to the side, take a deep breath and bend over clip fast and furious and sit up to take a breath before moving onto the next one.

Aside from fitting into smaller clothing, I haven't had a lot of visual NSVs. I look in the mirror and I see the same me I saw back in January. I just don't see the weight loss. But yesterday I finally had one.

I was wearing a skirt and blouse that hugged my belly region. I was sitting in the car and I looked down into my lap. I was honestly puzzled because I couldn't figure out what looked just plain WRONG to me. When it dawned on me, I asked the hubs, "Hey, did you move the seat?" "Nope," came the reply. "Didn't my stomach use to touch the steering wheel?", I asked. "It sure did. You've lost 100 pounds honey, where do you think it came from?"

Holy crow.. there was a minimum of 9-10 inches of space between the steering wheel and where my tummy was.

Hooray for physical evidence my brain can actually accept (since apparently the mirror just isn't good enough...)

Ha ha! That's a great one! It's amazing when the physical evidence starts to become evident.

I had a similar one in the car yesterday. I realized the seat belt was not choking me. I thought it choked me because I was short. Nope. It choked me because I was fat. I think my chest pushed the seat belt into a weird angle. Although I've grown an inch since losing weight, so maybe it was because I was short! LOL!

That is so great.

You sound like me. I still have trouble seeing the difference but I sure can feel it! I have not thought about it but, yeah, I have the same steering wheel thing. I used to have to put the seat back as far as I could and still reach the pedals and my stomach hit the wheel. Boy, when I get back in my car, I am going to have to adjust my seat to the old position and see how much space there is. Thanks for the idea!!

Thanks for sharing this! And I agree - not even remotely silly!

I've only lost 20 lbs, but the little NSV's are starting to hit me. I can look down and not see nearly so much belly between my boobs. My bras are on a tighter hook now, and aren't quite so full. DH says his arms fit around me better and he's starting to see some curve in my kidney area that hasn't been seen for a looong time. Yet despite the evidence of the tape measure, scale and my clothing, I don't see any difference in the mirror. I can't wait until I can clip my own toenails comfortably... and I'll bet DH is looking forward to that too.

I love the steering wheel NSV - I've had it too, and love to see how much farther I am from the steering wheel than I used to be. It's a little celebration every time I get into the car!

I also love that I can see both sides of my office chair on either side of my legs - same sort of thing; I just take up less space!

Congratulations on a GREAT set of NSVs!

That's awesome! I'm the same way: whenever I lose a bunch of weight, I just can't see it physically at all. It's all the little things around me that remind me! Right now it's just more flexibility, but that's from yoga. I can't wait till I'm thinner and my butt touches my heels!

I think this is an AMAZING NSV! Congratulations!

I can't wait until I fit in my car better.
