Default Dragging...

Hi guys -
I have really been dragging this week - can hardly keep my eyes open. I've lost 43lbs/3 months, so I'm sure that has something to do with it, but this feels worse. Besides getting a lot of sunshine and going on walks, does anyone have any other tips? I thought about an iron supplement, but it really upsets my stomach.
Thanks,

Hi hatethesweatpants,

Sorry to hear you're not feeling good. That was happening to me and it was absolutely the iron. If you buy the multi from the center, you'll notice it has NO iron in it. And in a normal diet, most americans get their iron from fortified breads and cereals - which of course we aren't getting.

Most of our on plan foods are very very low in iron, so I would recommend you try an alternative kind of iron. They say if it makes you naseous, to try a half pill and work your way up to a full one to reduce that impact. Also, you should take it on an empty stomach, but your doctor might recommend taking a higher dose with a meal to ease the nausea.

That did the trick for me, a couple months into the program i was super tired and didn't realized that there's so little iron on this diet. I started a supplement and now im all good.

Good luck!

I take iron supplements because I'm supremely deficient. I've heard my doctor say numerous times to avoid taking any dairy products with or around the time that you're taking your iron supplements. On the flip side, she recommends taking iron supplements with a glass of orange juice because it helps with the absorption process.

Have you tried a multi that has iron in it? I take The Vitamin Shoppe multi called Whole Food Women's One Daily -it's got 16% iron, but I know they have one that has more iron in it. Perhaps if you were taking in as a multi, it would help with the upset stomach?

cook your food in a cast iron skillet-- it's absorbed from the pan into your food so it's not as harsh as a supplement.

Also, I know this is off the current topic, but can some guide me on how to add the weight ticker. Thanks.

Are you doing MRC? This is the program I'm using and I'm now at 50lbs. It works!

The ticker can be accessed through your User CP (upper left hand corner), then click "edit signature". You have to be on the forum for a certain number of days and posts before you can access it.

Thanks so much for the iron supplement suggestion! I went from overflowing with energy my first week OP to positively dragging the next. I'm feeling much better now!

Happy to hear that! I've asked the center a few times and no one has a good answer as to why there is no iron in the MRC multi. When i take my own multi, i just have that, but when im on the center's multi, i do a 25mg supplement.

It's pretty strange though, when I ask the counselors where our diet gives us iron and calcium, they can't answer the question... so do watch out for yourself!
