Default Shorties

Was just wondering if there are any other "little" ladies here. I am 4'11" on the dot and 236 pounds (I am working off the mysterious 5 lb gain I had last week!) I see alot of people with about the same weight loss goals as myself, but most of them are at least half a foot taller than I am! Any other shorties around? Anywhere under 5'3" ? Just curious.

There are several of us that are 5'2". If you are looking for inspiration, you should look for Rockin Robin who is all of 5".

Default Woohoo!

Alright little ladies unite! HAHAH I am glad to see I am not the only "shrimp" here! It's fun being short, but being almost as wide as you are tall is a bit of a challenge! LOL I look forward to being short and feeling sexy! Pretty much everyone on this board is an inspiration to me! I was just looking for others who may be going through the exact thing as I am, by being the vertically challenged and overweight!

It's recently come to my attention that I am UNDER 5 feet, by about a half inch. Hmmm, I guess I should change my stats over there.

Weighing in at a whopping 287 lbs at my height was absolutely awful. I just about was as wide as I was high. Not the way it was intended to be.

But not anymore - I am petite and tiny and LOVIN' it.

I finally feel my body matches my height. It is a MARVELOUS feeling.

I look forward to hearing of your progress.

WOW! what an inspiration!

I will admit I'm teeny bit jealous when the 5'8" girls are my same weight and so much slimmer! But I need to get over as its one more form of self-pity and still part of the "Its NOT FAIR!" complex and work with what I have!

5'2" here! I don't get jealous of the taller chicks so much as I worry that they're going to think I'm whiny to be complaining about my weight when many of them would consider my weight to be barely overweight or even a healthy weight for them. I'm still obese at my current weight! I like being short, but hated trying to find plus size clothes in "petite" sizes. I always felt like an idiot having to ask saleswomen if they had the plus sizes in petites because I was anything but "petite". And even when I get to goal, I'm still stuck having to order most of my clothes online because most stores don't carry petites or only carry a few of the styles in store.

Go short chicks!

I'm 5' on the nose. Have been this tall since I was 12 years old. I used to always wonder when I was going to have my growth spurt like all the other kids did. Well, I did eventually have a growth spurt but instead of spurting upwards, I spurted outwards. I heard someone say once that it would be easier to jump over me than to walk around me.

One of my favorite quotes is, "I'm not fat, I'm just short for my weight!".

Thank you for all the responses I seriously felt like I was the only one out there ! HA Its nice to see so many of us so short! I knew that I wasn't the only short, and fat girl in the world but its nice to actually see the proof! Finding clothes is always a chore, especially since I am larger in the chest area (42 F, but I was a 36D in High School! Fredericks is my bra store and don't even get me started on their prices!) I also am thicker in the hips and butt area, so even if I find a pair of jeans that fit length wise, they are too tight in the legs and seat, or too loose in the waist or they just don't plain fit at all! It's always just a big pain in the butt!
If I want clothes to fit right, its a never ending process of trying on various sizes till I find something that is at least tolerable one way or another, and its always different at every store and it is usually always on the expensive side! I actually just got a pair of stretch jeans from Old Navy that had they not been on sale would have been $34.50, I paid $15. I was ecstatic because they fit me well, and though they are "skinny" jeans which most heavy girls wouldn't be caught dead wearing they hold me up and in pretty well, so I look better in them than I would look in a regular boot or flare cut jean. I get a lot of compliments in them and when people ask if I have lost weight...I usually tell them "Nah! It's just the jeans!" LOL
Though I am proud of myself I don't really want to start bragging till I have a number worth bragging about 20-25, 30 something like that I would feel proud to say, even though my grandmother was praising me for the 13 lbs I had lost already, since I know I still have a long way to go, I try to make light of it. Anyway, I just realized I was just blabbing on and on, I need to go make myself dinner and get my kids set for reading before bedtime!
Have a great night all my fellow shorties, and all my tall-ies as well!

I'm a shorty! I'm 4'10". Actually last time I went to the doctor they said I was 4' 9&3/4", I just decided to round it up. I have the same issues with clothes, working on losing the weight part.

So you are not alone, according to the posts above, I am the shortest one. lol tooo funnnny I wouldn't want to be any taller. I'm used to being this short now.

I'm 5'2" too! Boy, there seems to have been an over-stock in our manufacture!

I was 242 at my highest, and clothes are a huge issue for me too ~ to get my waist size in trousers, the legs are 6" too long and the gusset also!

Another shorty here, and with an unfortunately large chest (and broad shoulders) too! It definitely makes fitting a challenge, but that is all the more motivation to lose weight - so my petite height matches petite clothes! I actually like being short regarding some things (like my husband be so much taller ) but it does sometimes bug me that I think I should be a smaller size at a given weight, because tall girls are, and I'm not!

I'm here! 5'2"...268 at my highest! Currently sitting at 190-192, and my roommate who is 5'7" at 190 wears 2 sizes smaller than I do!! Crazy, but I guess that's how life works We're both doing the weight loss thing, so now that I caught up to her, it's been a fun challenge. David and Goliath!
