Default New Favorite Spices

My favorite recipes & spices change from time to time.
Right now I'm really loving spicy foods, I love spicy food anyway. I'm so glad my garden is supplying me with plenty of cayenne & jalapenos to spice up my food!
It's amazing how just a little heat can really change the taste of something.
It doesn't have to be really hot, sometimes just a little kick will do.

I've been chopping up green cayenne peppers and putting it in nearly every thing. The latest thing I put it in was canned tuna, it was really awesome.

I've put it in eggs, mushrooms stuffed with crab stuffing, steamed veggies, salads, salad dressings, marinades, chicken salad, laughing cow cheese, oh man the list just goes on and on.

Is there anything that you've tried recently that you really love & it doesn't have to be a spice, it could be anything?

Ginger. It's great in oatmeal or cottage cheese.

Hot sauce, pickles (used to hate them), crushed red pepper, reduced fat blue cheese crumbles, and feta. That's it for now, although every time I go to the store I try to expand my food repertoire.

I too love spicy foods. Cayanne is great stuff.

I need my food to be very tasty. It makes me enjoy it much more. I find it much more satisfying.

And wouldn't you know it, ginger is also something I use quite a bit of now too.

I make a great rosemary and thyme chicken. Two spices I never used back in the day. My whole family loves it.

I use cumin a lot too. I did use it prior to my weight loss, but I use it more now and in larger portions.

Flavor is good.

My favorites are:

- Sumac (so delicious over rice - gives a lovely tart flavor)
- Cumin (I mostly crave it in the winter, but it's good on almost anything!)
- Cilantro (makes everything taste super 'fresh' - I especially crave it in warm weather or when my palate just needs refreshing)
- Rose water (adds a little something extra to 'sweet and creamy' type things)
- Cardamom (amazing in desserts)
- Coriander (I love this in my favorite tomato-based mushroom curry!!)
