Arrow Figured out the secret

So many of you have been reading my posts about the fluctuating scale in the morning... well I have figured out that if I literally weight myself right after getting up than I am at a higher (perspective wise) weight. This morning when I got up I weighed in at 166.2 but then I waited 30 min and it went down to 165.6. That was the # I logged but gee whiz if I didn't jump back on the scale 15 min later and it was down to 165.2.

So I am now going to wait 30 min in the morning before weighing myself....I am also joining the gym today although right now I am so sleepy I cant see walking for 30 min this afternoon

Yep, that is what happens to me as well. I wake up pretty early each morning to let my dogs out ,(around 5am) weigh myself, go back to bed and up at 7am for work, weigh myself again and it is always about a pound lower. I never really understood why, but that is the number I use.

I notice the same thing. And it can be a pound or more. ANd I'm not going to the bathroom either. So, its weird that a pound can just disappear into thin air.

i get up and use the restroom, then i weigh myself naked. seems to work for me, because if i wait until after i eat/drink something then it adds more to the scale.

I usually find the same thing. But now I weigh as soon as I get up and leave it at that.

I found in the past I would start obsessing over the scale. I would get up, stand on it. Wait 30 min, stand on it again. Wait another 30 min and get it on again. Sure it would go down, but it was crazy what I was doing.

Sometimes on weekends I would wait two hours just to get the number as low as possible. Then I would eat breakfast late and have a late start to my day.

So now, I get up weigh - shower, enjoy a cup of coffee and get ready for work. Before I wouldn't eat or drink a thing until I got to work. Sure my scale is higher then it might be 30-60min later, but if I am doing everything right that number is still going to go down regardless of what time I weigh.

Me 3. If I sleep in, I always have a low number.

Me... 6th? Yeah, I do the same thing. Always confuses me, too. But hey, at least it's going down. I'm not complaining.

Ugh! Add me to the list! I woke up this morning and saw 146.8 on the scale, frowned, and took a two and a half hour nap... jumped back on the scale, saw 146.2, and then allowed myself breakfast.

I guess it is a bit obsessive. But I'm getting VERY frustrated with my plateau!

OMG if sleeping = weight loss than I should weight about 2 lbs now..hahaha

Just got back from the gym, got the membership thing squared away (they broke the fee up to 4 payments) and went to it on the treadmill. I haven't been to the gym in about 6 years or so and the new machines are wicked, they have places for your phones and water, and little 13 TV monitors on them. Now if they gym would get WIFI all would be good in the world. I did my 30 min walk and feel GREAT!!! No joke, this just might be workable.. whohooo

I figure as long as I weigh at the same every time day and the trend is down, I'm good.

That's not to say I don't do stupid scale manipulating!! I love to weigh after a good workout. It amuses me that after working out hard and having breakfast and TWO full water bottles in my system I can weigh exactly the same if not a half pound less than I weighed in pre-workout. I guess I lose a lot through sweat.

lol!

i have this same weird morning fluctuation thing going on too. all of it... weigh less if i get up later, weigh one thing early and then anther thing after another hour of sleep, have slept in late on the weekend to see what happens, etc. i'm so glad to hear that this happens to other people and that other people also try to play around and see how low it can go.

and to the op, congrats on the gym!

this goes along with research that lack of adequate sleep = weight gain. I'm not sure what exactly causes it, but i've noticed it too. wake up still tired--and I weigh at least a lb more than if I wake up refreshed and maybe a little later in the day.

I kept your post in mind this morning and decided to weigh half an hour later than usual. I was down .6 of a pound . I used to wait to weigh but lately I have been doing it early so I could eat breakfast. Thanks for the tip
