Default 17 calories for a night snack? WHAT?

So I guess I screwed myself over today. It's not a huge HUGE deal, but I normally like to have 200 left for a snack at night.

So far today I've eaten 770 calories. We're having sloppy joes for dinner. I'm only having one. I estimate the meat to be 500 calories, though it could easily be only 400 or 300. We get our meat from a guy and don't buy it in the store, so I don't know how to add that up. Anyway, one sloppy joe puts me at 1460 calories for the evening- my limit is 1477.

I'm kinda about that. I really like my night popcorn snack, 110 calories.

Do you think I should skip the joe all together (really not much to eat here until we go shopping), make a veggie wrap instead (it'll be thin- just carrots and broccoli), or eat the joe and just exercise my butt off?

I really want that sloppy joe, but part of me is saying "eat the veggie wrap- it's fewer calories (about 375), and you'll have more calories left over for the night."

So really it's up to me. But I figured I'd ask everyone else. :P

Eat the sloppy joe meat with a fork out of a bowl? That's the best part, after all.

Then you have your 100 calories for popcorn.

I think you are probably over estimating the calories in the sloppy joe. Just have a taste along with your veggie wrap and you should have lenty left for a night time snack!

I'm definitely over estimating the calories in the hamburger meat, because I don't know what they are. I usually overestimate them by 300 or 400 just to be sure. But I think I got everything figured out.

Maybe you won't be hungry so you won't want to eat anything as a snack.

Yes, it does happen!

Well personally, I'd go with the sloppy joe. I mean you need to enjoy some things every once in awhile and if you don't have much of anything in the house, I would definitely do it. Maybe skip out on a snack tonight or have both and just exercise more tonight or tomorrow.

I would have the sloppy Joe and eat tic tacs in the evening ( or whatever works for you . I have found that while dieting an usual big meal ( big for dieting purposes anyway) will fill me up much more than the same meal would before, so you might not even want the snack anymore.

Can you make a lettuce wrap instead of having it on bread? Iceburg lettuce makes good rollups. And seriously you need to get a handle on the portion size you are using for your calorie estimates. Buy a scale or use the cup measurement. Do you make your own sauce or use a canned brand.? Sometimes there is a lot of sugar in the sauce.

Add a big big serving of salad or cooked vegetables with your dinner. When it comes to be snack time-think first then choose.

(this is coming from a gal who KNOWS there is a box of crackers in the kitchen and is having a hard time with that)

I use cup measurments. We use canned sauce. The only time I ever over estimate my caloric intake is when I eat hamburger. I don't think anyone will go in on a scale with me (no job=no money).

Some suggestions:Try cutting some carrots (or other veggie) up into popcorn sized pieces to snack on
have 1/2 an apple
Go for a walk before you have popcorn.
try 1/2 of your normal pocorn serving.
ALSO- Bodybugg says a sloppy joe on a bun is 330 calories.

Just the meat and a lettuce wrap. Skip the slop part...lots of sugar. And then go to bed. Sometimes you just have to sleep off the hunger. How about right now have a big cup of decaf coffee. Then you won't be so hungry for dinner. Or you could take a very small portion of the sloppy joe and mix it in a giant bowl of spinach. This will fill you up nicely. Good luck tomororw will start a whole new allotment of calories.

You could have Jello! The single serves are only 10 calories. May not be the savory filling thing you want. But it will be something to at least eat so you feel like you're having a real snack.

and, with the 7 calories left over, you could have 1/8 tsp of cool whip on top! LOL

I would have the sloppy Joe, it'd be far more filling than a veg wrap. Or have the meat and sauce over your veggie fixings, dump the carby bun and then you ahve room for your snack.
