Default How much Fish Oil?

Can someone help me please? I'm new here and I would like to try Fish Oil (omega 3) in hopes of treating moderate depression. I'm not on any meds, but if I don't get out of this funk I'll probably be on them again soon. I've heard of the many benefits to my health of fish oil...so I'd like to see if this might also help me emotionally. Right now I have a bottle of Nature Made FishOil 1200mg and in 2 capsules it has 720mg Omega 3. The bottle says to take 2 pills twice a day.
Any recommendations on whether I should follow the label or increase the amount? Thanks so much...

Allison

Hi Allison,
I've been taking Fish Oil for a few months now. I only take 2 softgels per day (Spring Valley has the same content as Nature Made of 1200 mg in 4 gels).
I found this article that might have some relevant information for you http://www.healthcentral.com/heart-d...5/20777/omega3

Hope it helps,

Anyone find they get headaches if they take too much fish oil?
I also find that if I have salmon (for instance) as an evening meal that it can keep me awake...

I haven't noticed any headaches from fish oil, but it does have a tendency to make me burp. And yes they taste like fish, gross. I've heard tho that if you put your vitamins in the freezer that eliminates the burping.

Just buy "non reflux" fish oil caps.

I think you should just follow the directions on the bottle.

I don't burp the taste when I eat before I take them. If I have not eaten before I will get a nasty taste.

My Dr would like me on 4000 mg for my blood pressure. I have to pick up some more on the 1st. I will try this Spring Valley. I hope that it can help with some mild depression I've been having from unemployment and a stressful time right now.

I was having some headaches so that makes me wonder. I told my Dr about the location and she said they were in the part of the head that is often tension headaches and suggested neck exercising. It would make sense too since I was a bit deep into playing Sims2 game. I had just installed it and was in a bit of a trance. LOL Now its cooled off and I can play for a short time in evening and done.

I am under a doctors care for a Vit D deficiency and he added 4 Omega 3s (3000mg) to the mix for me and I don't have the burpy fishy taste with them. The previous ones that I had did and I put them in the freezer (as the previous post mentions) and never had that issue again
