Talking New~ need Atkins friends!

Hello everyone!

I have read the books! Now I need the will power and support to do it! Help! I don't like to many different kinds of food, my palete(sp?) Is very picky. I need to lose weight to have a better pregnancy around sept/oct 2010. Anyone that is willing to help me, I want to thank you in advance. I just need like a meal plan of sorts. I don't like all those weird named plates of food and crazy stuff, just easy simple meals. They say if you keep to the same meal plan then your more likely to stick with it??! How much of the food can I eat? How many calories a day? Thanks for any input and help.

I have been doin it for 6 weeks now... I did myself a favor and cleaned house!!!! I got rid of 7 bags of groceries, all food we can't have!! I find it easier this time than ever before.. I lost on atkins about 10 years ago, 85 lbs, had great success but the pressure to eat what my family was eating was too much and I gained it all, plus an additional 20 back!! This time, my family is older and we are all eating this way!!! I told my skinny hub that he can eat all the carbs he wants away from home, but here he will have to eat what is provided!! We eat meat prepared in different ways, baked, broiled , pan fried, no breading.. I sauté veggies every night, we eat salad.. My daughter and I during the day, breakfast we eat turkey sausage or Canadian bacon, lunch we eat tuna with avocado and mayo for snacks we have pork skins, cheese sticks, or almonds... We do not vary off of the acceptable food list, except for the almonds, but I think they are ok after the first 2 weeks.. Good luck to you.. I hope this helps... I have more free time this time to think of different things to cook... I am really having fun with it and my family is really enjoying it as well!!

Good luck - I dont think there is a right or wrong for same vs different menus - it's a question of taste. Some people love variety & like to cook or eat out (and can manage the temptations of eating out) for them probably the answer is very different from people who dont cook and dont mind the same predictable, steady, pleasing meal over and over. When I was single I was more the latter, now that I'm married my husband is the first, and I can eat out with no worries with my diet. Even Italian doesnt sway me!

Pick whatever fits for you (and change it as needed).

If you mix chicken, mayo, and shredded up lettuce in a bowl... it's awesome. ;D

And I love salad with pickles, olives, and canned banana pepper rings.

Ya just gotta try new stuff and see what ya like. ;P

Altho its a pita...I would highly recommend reading the book if you are going to follow Atkins.

That said, one of my go-to lunches is tuna salad with feta cheese mixed in. YUM! I eat pretty cleanly...some sort of meat and a veggie...either cooked or salad. I eat chicken thighs rather than breasts as they are dark meat and more moist. Another fave of mine is buying a rotisserie chicken and stripping the meat off of it to make chicken salad. It is delish!

Good Luck!

Well, depending on the day and how much time I have in the morning, it might just be chicken and mayo. However, if I have time or am craving something I will add some onion, celery, lettuce to it. Today it was chicken, mayo, and half an avocado which gave me some very good fat! I ate that 4 hours ago and I still feel FULL!

I find keeping things simple easiest for me and avoid processed foods as much as possible, but thats not to say I won't enjoy a hot dog or two this weekend!!
