Former Weight Watchers
I'm a former Weight Watchers girl...I've been on a plateau for awhile now and am having the hardest time breaking out of it and keeping consant, so I decided to start south beach. I really think carbs were a big problem. I'm hoping South beach will teach me to lean more on fresh vegetables and stop grabbing fruit all day !! Did good on day one which also include getting new foods from the store !

Welcome to SB! I still weigh in once a month at WW as a Lifetime member, but have been eating SB for 2 1/2 years now. Love not counting and measuring! The lady at weigh-in was so impressed with my loss, she asked me what I was doing & I told her SB. I've lost well with WW before, but never was able to maintain. I've maintained my loss for 2 years now on SB. For me it was all about the carbs, but also not being afraid to add good fats on SB.

I am also a WW refugee. I found that being on the point system just left me eating a lot of junky food that I could fit in because of the point value. I am much more comfortable with SB (and even was with Atkins when I did it a couple of years ago) because I do need to know that certain things are off limits and others you can eat to your satisfaction.

I am a former "Weight Watcher" as well. This was the reason I stopped doing it. I may try it again with only SB foods though and see what happens
And I like your name (and car) too!!!

I tried mixing SB w/Weight watchers (by habit)...meaning, if I ate something bad, I would always sya, well it's only 3 pts....it's not bad...
BIG MISTAKE...
I love SB simly it's less confusing and made me try new foods!

welcome! I lost 30 LBS on WW about 7 years ago. I kept almost all of it off even through a secound pregnancy. But when I quit smoking and gained 30 lbs back WW no longer cut it for me. I realized my body just didnt like all the crap I was allowed to eat on WW. After almost a month of re trying WW I didnt lose a pound and it was time for a change.
I started SB at the end of November 09 and reached my goal about a month ago. I actually must have hit a platue because I am losing again. I feel great a have realized this is a WOL my body loves. I feel much better on SB too then I ever did on WW. You will do fine!

I am also a former WW member. On my last try I became so resentful of points - sometimes healthier options have more points. I needed a change. I am on the first day of my second week on SBD and I like it a lot.

I was in the 18 to 20 point range while on WW and even with the extra 35 flex points and using activity points I often felt hungry. I have always been a regular exerciser and exercise makes me hungry. I would hoard those 35 points for the weekend and save points so that I could have a larger evening meal with my husband. Being on SB for almost 3 weeks now, I feel very satisfied and I am definitely eating more quantity-wise, yet I have had a good loss so far.

I am a current WW'er using SB principles. It has really worked well for me. I follow a phase 1.5 (basically phase 1, but with fruits and limited grains) - phase 2.
My basic meal plan looks like this:
B: fruit smoothie (1-2 types of fruit, 1 scoop whey protein, almond milk) or scrambled egg whites and spinach (if I'm working out after breakfast, it is a fruit smoothie)
L: (my kids eat an early lunch, so I just eat with them) lettuce wraps with 4-6 oz. of protein (usually chicken or vegetarian black bean patties), lots of veggies (2-3 servings of whatever fresh veg. I have on hand - carrots, zucchini, cucumber, tomato, etc.)
S: If I'm working out in the late afternoon, I usually have a banana or some triscuits.
D: 1 serving of grains (brown rice, whole wheat cous cous, whole wheat pasta, etc.), 4-6 oz. lean protein, 2-3 servings vegetable
I've been doing WW for 3.5 months now and was doing SB for a year previous. It took combining the two to really spark my weight loss....well, that and getting back to the gym. I needed the accountability of WW, but the good healthy food choices of SB. Combining them is perfect for me!
Good luck, and I hope you find the success you're looking for!
