I'm a 39 (almost 40!) year old CVT from northern MN. After years and years of battling the bulge, January 1st of this year, I decided to get serious about making changes in the way I look, feel and eat. I stopped eating junk food, I bought a Wii and challenged myself to spend at least 2 hours a week on it. I did pretty dang good.
Now here I am...6 months later and about 50 pounds smaller and I'm feeling great!! I just added walking several times a week to my routine and I have to admit...I'm starting to like it!
I wanted to come out here and meet some new people who would understand where I was coming from and how hard it is to lose all this baggage (both physical and emotional) that I've been carrying around and hiding behind all these years.
I've finally learned that this change is going to be a marathon..not a sprint. Anyone else wearing their running shoes?
Welcome. Since Chicks can be overwhelming at first, I suggest you look for a support group or challenge to join; a small group of friends to help keep you motivated. Find one you like that fits your needs, or inspires you, and just post to join.
Welcome, Ashenvenus! And Bargoo!!! No wonder I have always just *dug your posts!! Another Minnesodan. I have always taken your advice to heart, Bargoo, as you has lived/thrived through alot. Ashenvenus, whatever Bargoo says, you do! Note to self: whatever Ashenvenus does, do!

Like someone else said find a place and jump in . When I joined I was right on time to get into the biggest loser challenge so that was awesome timing, I'm kind of quiet but just reading the posts gets me going.
I'm also in the June WII challenge but haven't been back to post my results yet.(they will think I ran off)
