They offer Zumba classes at my gym.. Kind of afraid to try it. Is it hard?

To be honest, yes, it is kind of hard. But it is a lot of fun!! Its hard for me because I am so out of shape. Thing is, with zumba, I was tired but I just wanted to keep going. I have trouble doing some of the moves, but I just do the best I can and try not to get discouraged. Try it out! I think you will like it, and worst case you will find out you don't and never have to do it again.

LMAO Good idea. My gym is holding a Zumba class tonight at 6:30pm. I'll go and tell you what I think!! Thanks so much. Right now I don't have much drive after not going to they gym and dealing with a death in the family. I think classes are the thing I need to push me to get back in the swing of things.

Zumba is definitely worth a try. They teach a class at the gym on my college campus and I went a lot during the school year. It was a nice break from running or the elliptical, and I still felt like I got a good workout. Truthfully, the difficulty level depends on the instructor, some classes will be way more intense than others. But the music is great and makes you want to dance, the instructors are usually really encouraging, and so you want to keep on dancing. If it is hard, just march in place for a few seconds. The key is to keep moving and to keep having fun.

I hope you enjoy it!

I've been doing Zumba for a little over a year and I'm SOOO in love. The more you go the more you will learn the moves and the easier it will get. At first its really awkward and almost embaressing but hey everyone was a first timer at one time. The most important thing w/ Zumba is to have fun..and if you cannot do the arm and foot movements at the same time then concentrate on one and it will all come to you after lots of practice!!!

I've done several Zumba two hour fundraisers put off by local Zumba instructors ( how i made it thru I have no idea) and it was amazing!!!!!!!!!!

Zumba is a blast! I don't go as much as I used to but I still love it. It's almost like you're not even exercising And the first few times you'll find yourself giggling most of the time trying to keep up with the moves. SO fun though!

I've always gone to classes. If your local gyms don't have them try looking for them at YMCAs or the Zumba site can look up local classes. There are no levels, you just start picking up on the foot work. But it's not too hard, there are 70 year old women I've seen in Zumba that can do most of the moves

So...today was offically my second day of zumba. It didn't go as well as the first did. I am feeling very frustrated with myself. I keep getting this really bad ankle/shin pain when I try to do anything that involves movement. I know it is probably because I am SO not used to doing ANYTHING, but it sucks. I have to quit doing whatever exercise I am attempting at the moment because the pain is NOT my friend. Did anyone else have this problem when they started exercising? Does anyone have any suggestions?

I LOVE Zumba. It is such a great workout but it's so much fun that you forget you're actually exercising. I'm always dancing so Zumba is perfect for me!
