Default After losing 35 lbs

Okay, so in the last few months I have lost 35 lbs and dropped from a size 20 to a 16... not bad, right? Well, to reach my ultimate goal, I need to lose ANOTHER 35 lbs (so yes, I am half there). Weight loss has started slowing down. So my question is... is it harder to lose weight the thinner you are?

Wow! Congrats! And I think it is harder to lose the smaller you get, I have no clue why though. =[

How long did it take you to lose 35 pounds?

Yes, I don't mean to burst your bubble or anything...but the smaller you are the less calories you burn naturally...the less calories you need to consume, and the less calories you burn doing the same work outs. I lost the first 60lbs (from 260-200) in 6 months. The last 25 pounds I lost were an uphill battle with a weighted vest. Nothing easy at all about it. However, you may be different...and I hope that you are! Good luck!

As a heavier person, you burn more calories doing *everything*, and I mean everything. Sleeping, standing up, walking, exercising, etc. Imagine a 250lb person walking a mile uphill compared to a 150lb person walking a mile uphill. The heavier person is using more energy, they're carrying more weight. If the 150lb person put on a 100lb weighted vest, they'd be burning the same amount of calories as the 250lb person. What if you put a 35lb vest on and tried to walk around? It would require a lot more energy. That was you 35lbs ago!

So yes, it will be harder to create a deficit (difference between calories burned and calories eaten) as a smaller person. You may need to lower your food intake or increase your exercise or both.

Good job on being halfway there!

Congratulations! That's a great accomplishment!

While I agree that it does seem to be a lot harder to lose the same number of lbs as you weigh less, that is somewhat compensated by the increased impact the loss of those pounds has on your appearance. I could not notice the first ten pounds I lost, but the last ten had a big impact!
