Default Ever feel like it's a joke?

I've been 187.8 pretty much since March 22nd, even though my calories have been good and exercise has been great! Every morning - 187.8. So here I am a week after TOM and all of the Plan B crappy symptoms are gone. The scale has finally moved! I've gone down 3.8 pounds already in the week since TOM left! However, I'm feeling like my body, nature, the scale, whoever is playing a cruel joke on me and the next couple of days I'm going to wake up, weigh and see that dreaded 187.8.

Anyone else ever feel like this? I want to feel excited about my loss but I'm afraid it's all a big joke. Am I going (slightly) wacko?

I think your focus on the number on the scale is a bit unhealthy. Stop weighing yourself every single day, you will drive yourself nuts. I weigh myself at the end of each month and I find it is plenty (I hop on the scale on 3 different days at the end of the month as I would not rely on a single reading).
It is not necessary to count calories either.

Perhaps you should give a summary of what your typical day looks like, foodwise as well as exercisewise.

Sometimes your body has to recalibrate, y'know?

Weight loss is a fickle thing. Maybe you could try measuring your 'success' through other ways, like measuring your waist or something?

I know exactly what you mean about it feeling like a joke, though.

I feel you... I have been being very good but my weight has been up and down the same little bit for the last several days. 215.6--215.8--215.6--214.8--215.8--215.2. Really?! Ugh, guess I just have to keep on keepin on.

Tomato, I weigh myself every day because avoiding the scale is how I let myself get up to this weight to begin with. Weighing every day helps keep me accountable. I think the reason I was stuck at 187.8 is because my hormones were seriously out of whack.

Yossarianlives, I measure myself too. I've lost inches everywhere! 4 just on my waist alone! Just finding the almost 4 pound loss this week a little unbelievable.

Kae, yep, you and me both. Have to just keep going! We'll get there!

I'm actually in the same boat as you. It's really stupid. Sometimes I feel like I'll never be out of the 180's because my weight keeps fluctuating from 183 - 186. ARGH. *dinosaur rage foot stomp*

I'm a daily weigher also, newly inducted. Pink, I feel like I'll do better in maintenance because of it.

Yes, I have those fears. But as a daily weigher, to you record it? If you do, you should see a pattern. I tend to bounce low, then it takes a week or two to get back to that low, but then it tends to stay there. That's MY pattern. What's yours? That should ease your mind as to whether or not you'll see 187.8 again.

200 was a number I didn't want to see again, so I took a scale break for a little while. If there's a specific number that's wigging you out, maybe just take a small break from it for a week or two. But I think daily weighing is just fine for some people.

I am a daily weigher and I need that to keep me focused. My endo (diabetic doctor) wants me to weigh every day. He thinks it's important to see the affect of certain foods and/or activity can have on your weight. I need to get a small notebook to write down the weight every day - something I haven't been doing. It does frustrate me sometimes, but I have learned (for the most part) to not let the daily fluctuations bother me.

It never crossed my mind to look for fluctuations and patterns - what a great idea!! And writing it down - another great idea! Thanks for giving me something more to work with

I definitely feel you. I just moved back into the 150's (159!) after an eternity at 161, and I keep expecting 161 to show back up.

A four inch shrinkage in the waist it HUGE!!! Congrats on that - so you are clearly doing something right, regardless what the scale says.
I don't remember how many pounds I had to lose to see my waist shrink by 4" (I would have to look up old records) but then again, my waist is my problem area where I will lose the fat only when there is none anywhere else.

Ha! Glad to hear I'm not alone. Yes, I do record my daily weigh-ins (but only Monday counts as the "official"). Over the last three weeks, my "pattern" has been 187.8 on repeat. I'm convinced hormones (from Plan B and then my period) stalled me for that time. Tomata, thanks! I seem to lose weight in my waist and butt area first. Ironically, my hips don't get smaller when my butt does. So I end up with wide hips and little to no butt.

And guess what? I'm not going to let myself see 187.8 again!

Yes! It takes me about two weeks at one weight to drop a pound. I'll be at, say, 160 one day, drop to 158, and then spend the next two weeks at 159.8, 160, 159.4, 159.4, 159.6, 160.4, 159.4. Eventually I'll one day drop down to 157 but spend the next two weeks hovering at 158. It's incredibly slow and aggravating and makes it very hard to feel like I'm accomplishing anything.
