Default Having some WICKED cravings right now!

I have been doing really good with my eating and exercising. Counting my calories... staying within my limit and keeping an eye on the sodium and sugars too.

For lunch I made a grilled cheese with whole grain bread and one slice of 2% cheese, a huge apple and have some yogurt for later.

But now I am having a craving for the Great american cookie company and Lubys! Don't know if those are local places or if anyone will even know what I am talking about but its driving me crazy! I want the icing and the mac and cheese! I haven't had one this bad in a long time.

But you're not hungry! You just ate, so its not like your body needs food. Are you bored, perhaps? Do something! Go for a walk, organize a closet, email your mom...anything.

Plus, these things will always be there. Its not like if you don't get a cookie today, you're doing to die or the companies will go out of business. Wait for a day when you can make the calorie allotments you need to enjoy it! Then, you can have your cookie and still lose weight.

Thanks ducky! No I'm not going to die.. haha... just have that taste. And it will go away. I am about to chug some water.

If I could get outside and go for a run believe me I would! I am a teacher and my prep period just ended. I teach middle school so at that moment I am stuck in here with 7th graders doing paper mache. Maybe that is why I want that dang cookie!!!

Oh man, I'd want cookies too. 7th graders scare me just a little bit I'm working on getting my credential to teach high school English and every time one of my classmates says they want to teach middle school, I'm suddenly in awe of their will-power.

Oh!! I teach middle school too and my 7th graders just left. And paper mache would be a great excuse for them to act like fools! Hang strong and you'll be ok! I like what ducky said, it'll always be there tomorrow! Wait 24 hours and if you still want it then it's not just a craving. Good luck!

Ducky - I eventually want to teach high school. I teach art and I am certified all levels. Art jobs are hard to come by, so I am here for now. Plus I teach in a school considered economically disadvantaged.. which is a nice way of saying kinda rough. Most of the kids are great, but there are a few I want to strangle. LOL

Robin - This WILL pass, with zero harm done to you and you will be so thrilled beyond belief that you didn't give into it. I have never, ever not even one time, regretted NOT eating something. I never said, "gosh I wish I had eaten that____." <---- SO TRUE! I have so many times given into a craving then wanted to kick myself in the butt for it. And then it makes you feel all bloated and gross. And also like you said.. its gone after a few seconds. My DH always tells me... food is fuel, not entertainment.

Cherbear - You are so right... they were total fools.. lol. I have 2 6th grade classes, one 7th and 3 8th. I have really learned to enjoy the 8th graders. I will be fine once this school day ends. OH and not much longer until the end of the year! WOOT!

If I'm not too late...go brush your teeth. If that doesn't help, the take a tiny sip of vinegar. If that doesn't help, chug a couple of glasses of water. If that doesn't help, go for a walk. If that doesn't help, start all over again. Eventually, it will be dinner time and you will be fine...

*HUGS* hang in there!

Barb

Mints or mint gum can really help too.

Whenever you get a craving for something you know is bad for you, picture yourself in a bikini :-) it helps me stay away from temptation lol

I didn't cave Barb so you aren't too late! I am in my classroom so I couldn't go get it anyways I did chug some water and it helped. I have never heard of the vinegar thing.. what does that do? Just leave a weird taste?

Sheena - I ran out of gum so I need to refill my purse! That does help though.. the mint taste overpowers everything.

Here's an aversion techinique that I learned from Paul McKenna:
Think of the food that you really want to eat and then picture it in your mind (close your eyes and really "see" it) covered in something really gross like worms or hair or tobacco spit (sorry) or anything really gross. Try it. It might work for you.

Good luck

ddc - LOL. Ewwww.. that just might work!

I didn't cave BTW! I went home and stayed OP. I had a weight watcher ice cream bar for 110 calories last night that was really good, so that helped with my sweet tooth
