Default I despise the "1 tp for a Flat Belly" ad that is on here...

I posted something similiar in the "Announcements and Forum Help"...http://www.3fatchicks.com/forum/anno...yance-ads.html

It might be petty but the ad really offends me. This is the ad that shows the hand drawn picture of a chubby girl in a bikini...the Ad reads "1 tip for a flat belly" and the chick shrinks in size. As if there is one sure fire tip that would get me, a 255 lb woman a flat belly! LOL It is misleading and unhealthy and really goes against most of what we here at the 100 lb club subscribe to: Healthy eating, lifestyle changes, no quick fixes.

I know we can't had an ad free forum (ads pay to keep a site like this afloat) but we can complain about the ad to the Administrator who can then complain to Google AdSense.

i don't know what browser you use, but I use Firefox. They have an addon called Adblocker.

you can basically block the ads that you don't like. it's very useful!

For a fee, you can subscribe to 3FC without the ads.

Suzanne said " Ad-Free Subscriptions and Renewals unavailable

We will be unable to process new and renewal ad-free subscriptions for a while as we go through some structural changes. We will post an announcement in the future when this changes. Currently paid subscriptions will continue for the paid period, but may not renew.

Thank you "

Has that changed??? If so...I'll be sending in $$ asap to get rid of the ads! Whooo hooo. That IS good news!

Cottage, I didn't think that was available anymore. If it is, I sure would like to renew my subscription.

I agree that particular ad is annoying - and probably not that effective! Advertiser should know so they don't waste their $$ with something that doesn't work! And really it is sort of contrary to the 3FC philosophy of healthy weight loss!

The ad really doesn't bother me because I have seen it on different sites as well. It's a common one I have seen around other sites. I hardly notice the ads on 3FC because I just tend to scroll straight down and ignore the top and the side.

I can see how it might be offensive, though.

My mistake, the ad free subscriptions are not available at this time. Sorry.

It's kind of annoying. But, if it keeps this site going, it's OK with me. I don't pay attention to it anymore.

Administrators can get specific ads removed from the rotation by URL. The problem, of course, is that these are generic-type ads populated at a bajillion URLs. So we block one and there's another identical one ready to take it's place. We've done this, and continue to do so, for ads discussing HCG injections and other unsafe things, but since the ads are so prevalent, they're really hard to eliminate altogether.

I have to say I never even noticed it until it was pointed out. Now I see them both.

My 2 cents worth. Adblocker has been a huge help for me. I will gladly pay for an ad free site if it becomes available again. Not to block the ads, Adblocker works well for me, but to support 3FC. I could not have lost this much weight without the support of 3FC!

Adblocker is a real +/- addon. Absolutely great for totally blocking ads on Firefox and Google Chrome, but it does hurt revenue for sites that you want to support. If there is no option to subscribe to an ad-free version of 3FC then I suggest using Adblocker Plus to avoid seeing diet-related ads, especially because many of them are not only wrong but are triggering and painful for us.
