Red face Beach Chick - Scared of the Scales

Well my fellow chickies I have a confession Over the past 5 months I really let myself go and gained I know at least 10lbs (as proven by Dr. scales)

I started SBD yesterday but I am too terrified to actually get on the scale to get my starting weight...am I being weird? Do you think it will be ok for me mentally to wait until phase 1 is done?

I was a long time weight watcher gal until the weight I was watching never left no matter how good I was so I have traded in my points for the simple life of no breads, pastas, rice, & grains. But how does a long time wine drinker give up her glass or two with dinner?

I would love to get some advice, recommendations, and anything else you can share

thanks

I started for a few weeks then weighed. I really have no idea what my start weight truly was...I think it's fine to wait and weigh but the first weeks on SB you will see the scales move and that can be very motivating. Good Luck!

As far as the wine goes, after you complete Ph1 it will be a-ok to have!

Personally I think it's nice to know your starting weight. You'll drop the first few pounds so quickly in Ph1 that it may be motivating to see the scale change. However, if you simply don't want to know and can keep yourself motivated without it then don't. You'll know when your clothes feel looser that you're losing!

Welcome to the Beach!

Welcome to the beach Nancy! Weigh when/if you want to. If it scares you, don't do it. If it will motivate you to know, jump on.

, Nancy! IMHO, I don't like scales much, and try to avoid them, too. It drives me nuts how your weight can vary from day to day, and how each scale you weight on will tell you something different. I think taking your measurements and seeing the inches whittle away is a much more encouraging and accurate way of tracking your weightloss.

Good luck, and I hope to see you often!

Welcome Nancy! Former WW here too. Love SB better. I'm a fan of waist measurements. Dr. Pamela Peeke calls it her pant-o-meter.

Wow I love the thought of a pant-o-meter what a great way to measure success!

Well day two almost down but I confess - again- I drank a glass of wine but I countered it in my head that I had done 60 min of low impact aerobics to counter the wine??? I know I know mia copa

It is strange or maybe not but I am finding it a good challenge to find food combinations that fit the phase one plan and meeting the veggies requirement for me is easy. But this has forced me to put more protein in my diet and it does keep me satisfied longer so when I do eat my meals and snacks they are not huge like before I am actually full sooner and stay that way longer

For exeample in the eve I would snack on prezels and never knew when to quit, tonight I had sugar free jello and after a few good spoonfuls I was done..

wow I am rambling lol think I will sign off for the night

I waited to weigh my first time around and guesstimated my start weight (lower than what it probably was) which drives me nuts. I worked so hard and don't know how hard in measurable results (even at 15 pounds lighter, I haven't gone down a pants size even!).

So yeah, I kick myself for not knowing my true weight.

14 days flies by and you will be able to have some wine thereafter. Save the $ you'd spend on a bottle every 2-3 days in those 14 and treat yourself to a nicer bottle to celebrate day 15!

Here it is the begining of day three and I swear (or is it hopeful thinking) that my belly is not as 'hard' as it has been. I mean I could bend down and yes it is in the way but it did not feel like it was cutting my breath off. I don't think I have lost any weight yet maybe it is just because I am eating heathlier?

Any thought?

A lot of people lose retained water weight those first few days, that could definitely contribute to a smaller tummy right away. That's got to feel great!

omg please don't tell me what little bust I have is going to leave me

oh well that may be the price I pay --- why can't it be tummy and hips???

Guess I could always buy a pair when I save the money I use to spend on junk food

Weighing is a personal choice (boxers or briefs or none?)

My own choice was no scales at all. I have no idea what weight I started at ( 3 years ago) or what weight I am now. I go by clothes.
