I just received The South Beach Diet Dining Guide yesterday and was looking it over. I see that it says that on Phase 1 you can have pickles on your salad. I just assumed they were sweet pickles and we couldn't have them. I'm glad to know that I can add them to my salad now!
The larger bookstores also carry the SBD Dining Guide.
When choosing a pickle, make sure the sweet ones are sweetened with artificial sweetener, as the sugar in the regular versions can really set off cravings.
Another thing to keep in mind: although pickles are allowed, they can also be very high in sodium, so it's best to limit your serving.
