We want to invite everyone to join us in our journey.
We share laughter and tears.
We share what works for us and what doesn't.
We recently started a Topic of the Day.
Monday........Motivation Monday
Tuesday.......Tuesday Tips
Wednesday.....Wednesday Weigh ins
Thursday......Thankful Thursday
Friday........Friday Facials, Fingernails and Fun
Saturday.......Sit-up Saturdays - any physical activity
Sunday.........Soup and Salad Sunday - recipes
These are not required topics ...just ideas to share. We have found them very helpful. We also share heartaches and fears...joys and celebrations.
Please feel free to jump right in with us.
And be sure to check if there is a second page. We don't want anyone to miss any posts.
This thread will be our RECIPE THREAD. Here are a few guidelines:
1. Recipe should be low fat. 2. Please include all ingredients, measurements and caloric values. (calories, fat, fiber...etc.) WW points would be great too if you have them! 3. Try to make these quick, simple and easy. As Donna stated, let's not have to have a PHD to make them. 4. After we all make these, you should send them to my home address for final taste testing.
You can't blame a girl for trying, can you?
With every post you make, just try to include one of your favorite recipes. I think this will be really fun and neat and will give a lot of new, good recipes. Now go get those cookbooks out!!
Soak cereal in water for 5 minutes. Mix baking powder into brownie mix. Add to cereal mixture. Stir until well blended. Spray 18 muffin tins with nonstick cooking spray. Divide batter evenly into the tins. Bake at 350 degrees for 20-25 minutes.
Keeping track of all you ladies talk is so funny! All I do is go back and forth!
Mary: Where in MS? I worked for a company that did a lot of work in MS and of course my favorite place is Tunica (lol)
For those of you ladies who don't know, Tunica is casino capital of MS. I think there are 8 or 9 now.

After a HELLACIOUS night at work, I crashed and burned around 7:30...about 10 minutes after I got home! Slept soundly til 2:00, which is a biggie for me. I have to start getting more rest, if I ever want to get rid of the dregs of this cold. I'm happy to report that Mother Nature has left the building, finally...If I'm gonna go through THAT every two weeks, I say, BRING ON MENOPAUSE!
Yesterday, my daughter and I had dinner at a cute little Italian bistro in Philly. ...uh oh... No, dinner was very good...I had Chicken Marsala which was very light, actually...2 half breasts in Marsala sauce with lots of fresh veggies: mushrooms, broccoli, carrots, artichokes...no pasta or rice. Wellllllllllllllll...since I was so virtuous at dinner, AND since I hadn't eaten since the 7=11 roll and coffee on the road @ 7 am...we decided that dessert was in order...Bless me chicklets, for I have sinned... It was just a sliver, really...well, maybe a tiny slice...but oh so freakin' good...Turtle Cheesecake... !!!
BUT! One does not dance to the music without paying to the piper...
I made myself use the stairs all night long, at work. No elevators! Believe me, I got a LOT of exercise in! I'm usually lazy (or tired?) enough to take the elevator down one floor. Last night, I was UP and down the stairs all night. I have four floors to cover, so that was a lot of steps!
So I turned the into an
No guilt. Life happens, find some balance...move on.
I planned on doing some replies...but I forgot everything that I was going to say, besides, it will take me WAY too long...will try to come back later for that. Here is my easiest recipe and some possible modifications...I have no nutritional values to share, but it's not hard to figure them out...
I think I have shared this before, but it is so easy and tasty, it bears repeating...
Place chicken in crockpot, pour salsa over top (the whole jar, or at least enough to cover) Cook on Low for 6-8 hours, or till chicken is done.
I shred the chicken and serve with warm tortillas or sometimes I'll add a can of corn or some diced olives to the shredded chicken, serve over rice, and sprinkle shredded cheese over all...very good!!
Points will depend on how much chicken you eat and any additions...Is it 3 or 4 points per breast? I haven't a clue about calories... Sorry!
I was thinking of using Newman's Own Pineapple Salsa, next time, and adding some pineapple chunks and green pepper chunks during the last hour or so of cooking...will report results on that one.
Okay...that's it for me...I have to dig up my chili recipe for my next post...A big hit here...even with my picky son! Where'd HE come from??
see ya'll later...

Hey, Mary I am game anytime! I am pretty familiar with Olive Branch and Southaven as when I worked it was at that end of Memphis almost to the state line.
Kat, your dinner and recipe sound yummy. Wonder what it would be like if you shredded the chicken, added fat free cream of chicken soup and green chiles than made a caserole of it with tortillas and some low fat cheddar. Instant green enchiladas! (my husband is from the southwest so I am an expert Mexican food cook!)
My grandson just had his mom call us, got the giggles because we were both on the phone to him at the same time, said, "I'm gonna hang up now." and did! So much for those long conversations.
Jack is downstairs with the super bowl (YCK). He is a sports nut and I have never quite understood the interest, though I try to keep up on everything so we can discuss it. I guess, I will just veg either on the computer or the tv in the bedroom tonight. Jack has to get up at 5 am to go to work and as tomorrow is the day my daughter and I scrapbook at my house, I usually get up with him which will mean an early evening for me.
Has anyone ever been to Las Vegas? Jack was asking me what parking was like downtown (Frontier street area). We are going there in Sept for my birthday and are going downtown with my sister and brother-in-law in a car.
Well, toodles. I am going to go for the evening. Everyone have a nice night. Donna
Okay call me blonde but why did we switch to this thread? I'm really new to the posting on board stuff so thats why I ask. All of your recipies sound so scrump-did-ili-ump-sious, can't wait to try that salsa chicken one, I love mexican, dh really dosnt but he will have to deal with it if he wants to eat... .
Well this is what I had the other night......No name just kinda threw it together and if you buy the package of Lo Mein noodles the whole package is 4 servings.
3 Chicken breast halves cut up small pieces
loads of fresh veggies or frozen stir fry ones?
Teriyaki Sauce
1 package of Lo Mein Noodles
Cook Noodles in pot of water, drain and set aside. Stir fry the chicken pieces in teri sauce still for a bit, then add your veggies and cook till done to your liking. Add more sauce if you want and then throw in the noodles and stir it all around to get them good and coated. Serves 4
I figured the WW Points to be 4 for noodles
3 for chicken
1 for sauce
0 for veggies
So enjoy girls....it was so yummy and filling, and if you dont use the noodles well just subtract that amount.
Hey guys....just popping in real quick before bed. I am soo tired tonight. I worked today 7-3....got off work, came home, threw on some different clothes and went grocery shopping. Finished............2 hours later. Fixed dinner, did a load of laundry and then did the two mile walk and I am pooped!
To answer your question Sandy, we try to keep each thread to about 30 posts per thread and then we start the new one. Hope that helps.
Here's my recipe:
Simple Easy Dip
1-8 oz container of non-fat plain yogurt 1-package of dry salad dressing mix (like Hidden Valley Ranch) 1-Tbsp. of dehydrated onions
Mix all ingredients together and let chill at least 2 hours. Makes a very yummy dip for veggies and is only 2 WW points for the whole thing.
Ok, I'm out of here for now, but thought you might like to see the little banner I picked up at the grocery store tonight.
Nice produce, huh?
To all of you football fans... I won $15 on the game.
My husband, son and I all put in $5. If the game ended in both teams score being even numbers then my son would have won. If both team scores were odd numbers then my husband would have won. But I got one team even and one team odd and so I WON !!!!! We just enjoy a fun wager. I almost lost... they scored with only seconds left to play. LOL It was exciting.
I enjoyed that Osborne commercial... and I hate the show.
I also like that Dodge commercial. The young dude commenting on the fat driver and then got chocked on his beef jerky. LOL . another favorite was the office linebacker. LOL I guess I have a mean streak in me. LOL
Yeah 2cute for your winnings! My husband told me about the Osbourne commercial and said it was funny.
QB: sounds like a wonderful snack recipe. Thanks.
If you want a recipe that will curb those chocolate urgings, go to the low fat recipes on this site, chocoholics, then the fudgy chocolate pudding. I made it this morning for dessert for our scrapbooking and tasted it. It is really pretty good. I think I would add just a tiny dollop of cool whip to complete a nice dessert. Bet your kids would love this one.
I got my exercise in this morning. Froze my tush off. Thought it was supposed to warm up! BRRRRR!
Well gotta go. Will check in this afternoon. My daughter should be here anytime. I am making a weight loss scrapbook with monthly calendar pages, and a pic for each month. I thought it would be a great way to keep me on track and as a remembrance in case I start to slip.
I'm back from another very uneventful weekend, well actually I did help my parents move, and arange some of the furniture in their new house, but I wouldn't say it was fun, they moved to another town, about 25 mins away, which is alright, but there goes my babysitter, now it's time to dish out money for a regular permanent babysitter, oh well, I've been spoiled living so close to them, no more depending on my mom when I'm in a bind.
Foods been pretty good, ate a little to much chips and salsa on Friday night, but other than that it's been good, and today is WI Monday for me, and I am proud to report another loss, I lost 4lbs last week, yeah for me. I hope I never lose this frame of mind, It seems like I always go for a couple of months losing and eating good, and then go off, need to be consistent.
Welcome newbies, I know you will enjoy this crowd, as well get lots of motivation, and if you ever need a kick in the arse we can do that to.
Bobsgal, congrats on the 5lbs, your doing so good.
The recipes sound yummy will have to try them, don't have time to post one right at the moment, will get back later and post one.
Just checking in since I've been AWOL for the last couple of days. For no reason in particular, I haven't been too chatty recently but I have been faithfully reading all your posts a few times each day! :0)
Donna & Sandy: I wanna take a second to welcome you to our little group! WELCOME! You've come to right place for motivation, support, friendship and ACCOUNTABILITY! My advice to any newbies is to post everyday... it really helps keep you in line and outta the kitchen! I might go as far to say, without this group, I may not have made it to my GOAL of 120 pounds lost, which I finally did last week! Still working on about 5 pounds or so... so I'm not done yet!
Duckie: Woohoo! Congrats on your 4 pound loss! Don't let snacking a bit too much one day discourage you! Recently, there's been about one day a week that I go over my calorie/fat/carb intake... but all in all, I'm eating healthy and exercising and... I'm still losing! So... it's really all about sticking with it, not about PERFECTION!
Steph: Woohoo for you too! We're all on a roll here!
Okay. So today I was feeling a little grumpy and, I was feeling FAT. TOM is supposed to be arriving today and I feel BLOATED; it feels like I'm retaining 20 pounds of water! SO... what did I do to put myself in a better a frame of mind? I cleaned out my closet again. No matter how I feel right now, it feels SWEEEEET to go through all your old clothes and get rid of everything that's too big! My favorite thing to do is get rid of things that I'd been saving FOR YEARS hoping that I'd fit into them again. It was a thrill when I realized that they fit again and it's an even bigger thrill to realize that they're WAY TOO BIG now! (Plus, when you save something for years, by the time you fit into it again, you suddenly become aware of how much styles change and it's not quite as "cool" as you remember it being!)
ANYWAYS... I've saved one pair of size 22 pants (I'm a size 9 now)... just so I will always be reminded what I DON'T want to be. It's so much fun to put them on and pull out the waist--you know, that classic "I've lost 120+ pounds" shot! If you've read my journal, you know that I'm planning on putting together a web page chronicalling my weight loss with lots of pics and stuff (with help from my hubby) and I'll definitely do one of those poses!
