Default OK...So how would you manage this ?

Every summer I sell my natural soaps, and hand crafted accessories at a local farmers' market. This year I am adding homemade jams and baked goods to my list of products. Right now I am testing recipes...all made with a healthy twist...like whole grains, mostly organic and under 250 calories per serving. Now here is the problem: After I make these (healthy, yet much too enticing ) foods I have to find a way to move them out, or I might end up doing a little too much tasting. I live alone, so I can't feed them anyone here. I will probably take them to a friend's place tomorrow...if I last that long...any Ideas ???

Can you pass them to neighbors? That way you can build community and get rid of those goodies.

I wish you were going to be at our farmers market. The fresh baked high in calories good are so tempting.

Trash them if you have to: they aren't any more "wasted" sitting in the trash than they are turning into fat in your body.

Yes, Shmead...better trashed than on me...but I feel awful turning good food into compost. I can make smaller size recipes, and give it away but there will be more , because I have to fine tune the ingredients. I am trying to avoid throwing it away...but I might have to get over it.

can you cook on weeknights and take to your work the next day? (assuming you work outside your home, of course!)

And definitely reach out to your neighbors - if they know ahead of time, maybe you can eave a basket or plate for them even if they aren't home.

I agree with trashing rather than eating but understand why you'd want to make that the last resort.

Start building up a fan base. Like "coming in summer!!!!"

Can you have tastings at churches? Stores? Coffee Shops? Library?

I think in addition to neighbors and friends, what about offering samples to local coffee shops, bookstores, libraries, offices, churches, etc.? They would probably appreciate the food and you may get some new customers!

do you have a foodbank in the area or homeless shelter or anything like that? They're always looking for stuff.
Do you know of any single moms (or dads) in the area that could use the extra help? Do any of your friends know?
My mom was a single mom of four, and if anyone ever offered us food it was greatly appreciated.

Yes, these are really great ideas ! I think friends, and the local soup kitchen (thanks, Jessica) are good options for now, and I love astrophe's sneak preview suggestion for when the recipes are perfected.

I like the sneak preview suggestion too!

What's odd about me, is that if I do the baking - I don't eat it, but if someone brings is over for me made, THAT'S THE PROBLEM.
