Default Good News/Bad News

An eventful day for me ...

The good news is that the training I have been doing these past few months for the half marathon is working. I ran a 5K today and took 4 minutes off my time, finishing at 35:30. (Back on New Year's Day I did one where my time was 39:37; I ran my first 5K back in October with a time of 48 minutes.)

The bad news is that I pulled or strained a muscle somehow in my right hip and am limping. I wasn't pushing myself that hard (less hard than I have pushed myself on training runs) so I am not sure what I did but I took some Advil and have been icing it down since I got home. I'll be taking it easy this week but just hope I haven't screwed myself for next Sunday, which is the day of the half-marathon, when I will join 18,000 people in running through downtown Atlanta.

Thanks for the support and encouragement! Sometimes I feel out of place out there, the big girl among all the skinny people.

This morning feels a bit better, although I still can't put all my weight on it - which I found out when I went to put on my clothes this morning. I had to sit on the bed to put my pants on. Luckily, my running partner for the half is a physical therapist, so she's been giving me tips on how to deal with this week.
