Default Hard time dealing with fewer daily points!

Hi everyone -

At Saturdays meeting I hit a new milestone...I went into the 150's. While I am excited to finally see this number, my daily points went down another 1 point and I am having a hard time for some reason with 22 points. I'm only going over 1 or 2 points, but when I was at 24 and even 23 it was no problem.

Why now? Its only a 2 point difference from when I started but for some reason it seems like 1000!

I can relate kinda.... when I first started I got 32.... now 24 (with 23 looming) is almost unbearable. I know it is a victory, but darn, it is hard. I commend you for getting to the 22 point (no pun intended).

I have to agree I just hit 25 points, and I start to panic everytime I lose a point. I tell myself it's only 50 calories.
Congrats on your progress!

I was on WW when they first started the points program and I left because I could not handle that downward drop in points. This time around I have decided that if I am still losing at rate that is comfortable for me then I am not going to drop my points when suggested. I am not sure how they decide when you need the point drop but I know it is one of the things that stresses me out so I am going to do it differently this time.

Carrie -

You answered a question for me. I have been losing 1-2 lbs. per week at 23 points. Am wondering if I should just stick with that for a while until I see a change (less weight lost) before going down?

Marie,
I really think it is a personal choice and if you are comfortable with the points level and your weightloss than I would stay there until you feel like you need a change. I like WW program but you still have to make it your own and if it means staying at a points level then stay. It is better to find a way to make the program work than to quit.

I take the opposite view so I'll be devil's advocate here. I get 18 pts daily, by the way. As your body becomes smaller, you need few calories to maintain it. With dropping 1 point every 10 pounds, this is taken into condsideration. The day will come an you are ready to maintain and it makes it very easy when you have dropped points regularly and eased into it. If I need more points, I use WPAs but I don't use more than 5 in a day. Just the way it works for me.

I just switched to Online from meetings. When I finished changing my profile, I had 1 less pt. Turns out that I've had a birthday, and it changed my pts total. Arrgh!

yup, that's exactly my problem, and what makes me soooo frustrated with trying to count my points every day. I try to aim for 22, and always end up with 24. But I'm hungry! so why can't I eat? I mean, those 2 points are usually eaten because i'm just plain hungry, not because there's a 2-point treat or something, you know?

I would be interested in what your meal plan is for a 22-point day? Or even QuilterInVA who can only eat 18 points per day! I just don't see where I can cut my points without starving to death or being miserable!

A lot of it depends on how you spend your calories. If you are eating lots of filling foods and 0 point foods it makes it easier to stick to the lower point counts. I have 22 a day also.

Sample menu

Breakfast - 1/2 cupFiber One cereal, 1/2 - 2/3 cup other cereal (equal to 1 pt), 1/2 cup skim milk. Total 3 pts

AM snack - 100 cal bagel with WW cream cheese - 2 pts

Lunch - Sandwich made with Orowheat thins, lunch meat, mustard - 3 pts
or WW Quesadilla - 4 pts
Baby carrots - 0 points or salad with FF dressing - 1pt
small orange - 0 points

PM snack - yogurt 0-1 pt
apple - 1 pt
sometimes low fat cheese if I am hungry - 1 pt

Dinner - I try to pick something around 7-9 points sometimes a couple more if I have them available.

Evening snack - dry cereal (for some reason I have several I like to snack on)
1-2 pts

Some days I use a couple of my WPA and somedays I do not. It depends on how hungry I am.
