Default Dumb Calorie Question

For daily calorie intake take my weight and multiply times 7=1652. If I work out for an hour and burn 300 calories, do I add that to my 1652?

No question is dumb if you need to know.

And my answer is no. If you find that you are starving, you know you can have a little something and not do too much harm.

Why do you take your weight and multiply by 7? I have never heard of that. That would make daily calorie intake 945! Is that how many calories I should be eating to lose weight? If it is no wonder I am loosing real slow at 1200 calories per day.

No club ... it's just another way of guesstimating a starting point.

All of these formulae are just that ... guesstimates ... some more scientific than others. We fiddle away until we find one that gives us a number we can work with and go on from there.

7xs your body weight I believe is the biggest losers suggest for losing 2 lbs a week. In my personal experience this is too low for active people. My weight loss slowed down at that level once I bumped it up 200 cals I started losing again and then slowed again and then I added another 200 cals and am losing again. So it really depends on your body. I don't add back my exercise calories per se, but I do eat more than what is recommended to lose 2 lbs a week and I typcially still lose 2 lbs per week.
